***The ONLY Other Review on here that is a 5-Star One was PUT THERE by the Gym-Owner, Steven Mount! There WAS a 2nd, 5-Star Review left by him on here until I updated mine mentioning his False-Reviews he had posted on here!*** I got a 1-year Contract w/ Golds Gym when this gym WAS Golds Gym, I then went for several months until my Dr. put me on a new medication that made me sedative, so I stopped going about 4-months in. The contract was for $20 a month w/ initiation fee and all that. Just last week I decide to go in and see Fitness Systems and if I am still on an account with them. As a matter of fact, I AM! In FACT, I already OWE them $44.95 for the past few months, but I can wipe that away by paying $20 right now. Cool, I give them my last $20 and they give me a membership-card and said I have until the 5th of Next month to give them a Credit/Debit Card to process, OR pay 3, 6, or 1-year in advance membership dues with no-strings. Awesome, I might just do the 3-month membership upfront because I hate contracts. So I was going for the last 5-days until I come in on a Monday night and some old-guy with an attitude-problem stops me from proceeding to my workout. He informs me that I need to give him a Credit card RIGHT Now and when I mention Ive already given him $20, he says that THAT was for the PAST dues, but that didnt make me a current member. I tell him that is not the info I was given, and feel a little bit insulted by the old-farts tone. I then ask him how much is monthly membership fee, and he says, "since youre an old-member, $25. But for new members its $40." Ive never had ANY problem at this gym before, so I figure that maybe hes just having a bad night and give him my card infomation now so I can workout instead of waiting and paying them 3-months upfront. So this guy never says anything like, sorry for the misunderstanding or something. Nothing.. I found his behavior very unbecoming of a business owner, as I later confirmed that he was the owner, and it doesnt surprise me because most employees would never treat another person like that if they value their jobs. I finish my workout and go home to retrieve my Original Contract for Golds Gym which I assumed they had purchased from them and were still honoring SINCE I was already being CHARGED BY THEM for ALREADY being a member there! I come back in and wait to be seen by the owner again for which I now know his first name is, "Steve" and tell Steve that Im contracted to only be charged $20 a month for at least another 2-months. No biggie, right? WRONG!!! "Look, every member pays either $25 for coming in earlier or $39 for coming in now per month, if you want to go to Golds Gym then you can drive-out to their Citrus Heights location (which is about a 30-minute drive) and go there if you want to pay $20 a month." Oh really? How can I do that seeing as I ALREADY gave you my last $20 for, Past-membership Dues that I APPARENTLY DID NOT EVEN authorize! I assumed they were going off my old-contract but I guess they were just going off of whatever they felt like making up at the time to get you to come in and give them Your money! During this whole time, I did not raise my voice, use foul or unbecoming language, or do anything to cause a scene BECAUSE I workout there! After asking a few more questions trying to get to the bottom of how they decided that I owed them $44.95 to begin with that I paid off in agreement with them at $20 and why did they do that if they were not following the original contract because I never signed-up with Fitness Systems?!?! Before I could get another word-out, I get the proverbial, We have the right to refuse service to anyone and Im not trying to argue. "Im NOT either, Im just trying to get to the bottom of.. "OK then, were done. Your membership is canceled! Good-bye!" and just THAT fast is how I lost $20 to greedy Steven Mount of Fitness Systems of Lincoln, Ca! What a sad little-man Steve must be, for someone who is as Old and as past his prime as he is, youd think he would have learned to be a Gentleman by now :P

I have been a long time member of Fitness Systems and Muscle System. I have had the great opportunity to workout at just about al of their gyms. The equipment is by far the best in town. If youre looking for a gym that is less than mediocre this one is not for you. I have read a review where a customer states Steve Mount is the owner. Thats false. Its too bad people make stories up. The owner is Steve Tresner. Steve is by far, the nicest on hands gym owner anyone will ever encounter. He shows up at different times of the day making sure customers are happy and staff are professional. The first time I worked out at Fitness System in 2005, Steve noticed a few of us had no clue what to do. He walked over and asked if we wouldnt mind him jumping in and working out with us.

Wanna let everyone know that i do not own that gym. Hi my name is Steven Mount and i moved to lincoln a year ago and work on base at Beale. I have traveled a lot and been to many workout facilities all over the world and trust me when i say that this gym is a wonderful place to get fit. Since i have moved here and been a member i have made many friends at the gym, both avid gym goers like me AND staff. I feel like some of the other reviews on here have unfortunately had bad experiences.... if thats the case then im sorry but others who may see these reviews... trust me, give it a chance. Once again, Steven Mount.... not the owner. :)

I lost my phone in Roseville but was able to track it to the outside of this gym. I went in to ask if anyone had seen it and was told no. HOWEVER two guys that were working out there went above and beyond and helped me look around outside and even let me use their iPhone to track mine. The guy at the front desk was SO awesome and helped me look as well! Their moms would be proud. So thank you, didnt get names

I joined the gym when it was Golds and it was kind of run down and old. The new owner came in and brought new equipment and fixed it up really nice! The staff is friendly! I left a really nice stainless water bottle there by accident. The guy at the front desk called me and told me I left it. He said he saw me walk in with it and knew it was mine. It was so nice of him to go the extra mile and let me know.

Anybody who treats customers as Ive heard he does, does not get my business. I have been looking into gym membership, as Ive suffered an injury and am unable to walk great distances as I was. I called, got a sketchy rundown ... no clear pricing and had even more questions after calling. Ill spend my money 11 miles away instead of 1... sad!!!!
