There is so much history in these 2.5 acres of land nestled in between the hi-rises that are in Westwood. Only a few blocks from UCLA this little park to the stars thrives. If you are coming up Glendon its to the right before you get to WILSHIRE BLVD. Dont get it confused with the big pink parking lot. It will seem as though you are going into a little alley way type road, you will then see the a discreet sign that say PIERCE BROTHERS WESTWOOD VILLAGE MEMORIAL CENTER make a sharp right and you will enter the gates go the Memorial Park, if you would like to start by going to Marilyn Monroes grave then keep going around the oak tree until you are a third of the way around the park. It is one of the most shiniest on the all so you cant miss it. It is said that someone hand cleans that dialy. Which reminds me, that although they open pretty early try getting there around 10:00 when the groundsmen have already done their daily watering. An interesting story about the man who is buried above Marilyn Monre, his name is Richard Poncher, he bought the plot from Joe DiMaggio after he divorced Marilyn. Richard Poncher wasnt necessarily a Marilyn fan but it is said that eventually who grew to have an affinity for Marilyn so he requested of his wife that he be buried face side down, facing Marilyn, that way he would always be on top of her. If you continue down to the end of towards the benches on the west side, you will find TRUMAN CAPOTE and JOANNE CARSON, they wanted to be buried together and here they are next to each other like true friends. I hope you come on down and check out this place, its worth it.

Im Cortney Page and go to Marilyn Monroes grave site on her birthday and death date every year when Im in the LA. We share the same eye color, height, hair texture, hands, feet and toes shape and even the birthmarks on our bodies are nickel sized or matching ones on our breasts, just a mirrored reflection of us. I believe the eyes are the gateway to the soul and believe that Im the reincarnation of the late-great actress born as Norma Jean. This maybe an MKUltra program? But I do believe my dreams and dejavu experiences is proof to myself that we have been here before and I wrote and registered my claim with the writers guild in the 80s when the revelation that even my name was designed for my 2nd mission on this planet. I do believe in an afterlife and that well meet again here on Mother Earth!

The existence of this this place is not well known, even to locals. I work right across the street and about a year ago I showed it to some co-workers. They had no idea a cemetary was even there, much less who all is buried there! It is a pretty amazing place to visit. I love the oddities: only half of Truman Capotes ashes are here; women (and maybe some men too) put on red lipstick to kiss Marilyn Monroes crypt; Frank Zappa is here in a completely unmarked grave (but if you ask an employee, they will show you the spot); and some of the epitaphs are great: Merv Griffins reads "I will not be right back after this message." Certainly worth a visit.

I give this cemetery five stars as it is a most interesting and lovely place. So many stars are buried here , too many to list , Westwood Cemetery is small but well worth the visit . If you visit on Marilyn Monroes birthday youll see how well she was remembered by the many flowers she recieves . I always bring flowers to put on some of my favorite stars graves , just as a token for all the enjoyment they brought me . Ok. Google is messing up and saying this is my review which it isnt, but I dont want to delete it! :) I agree. This is a beautiful garden. Very worth the visit!! ♥

Visited October 2015. The entrance can easily be missed via Glendon Ave as we found due to a large truck parked in the road obscuring the entrance sign. I think it was $9 to park - at a cemetery?!? But then this is LA where you pay to park everywhere, but we parked for free on Malcolm Ave and walked the 2 minutes around the block. This cemetery is the final resting place of numerous celebrities, Marilyn Monroe, Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon to name a few but our visit was to pay our respects to Peter Falk and James Coburn

This place definitely deserves 5 stars. Not many people, including locals, know where it is situated. It is down a driveway next to a library. Look for Pierce Bros. If you do visit, make sure you take a map of the grounds that you can download as you will kick yourself that you didnt see everyone who is here. Very quiet, peaceful and you would not even know you were in LA. Definitely will visit again. Take flowers as well if there is someone there who is special to you.

I was luckey enough to visit this cemetery this past may 2016. What a beautiful place this is. So quiet and peaceful. The grounds kept up beautifully. Bathrooms were spotless. What an awesome place to be laid to rest. I was so impressed by everything I saw. I went into the office to say thank you for allowing us to visit everyones grave. The very sweet young lady I spoke with was so very nice and kind. I truly love this place Donna Pollock

An amazing, beautiful and tranquil cemetery, yet so close to bustling Wilshire Boulevard. This is the final resting place of more well known people, per square foot, than any other cemetery. Map its location since the entrance is unmarked. Footnote : Elizabeth Taylors parents are in crypts and she was going to be interred here but changed her mind after attending Michael Jacksons memorial service at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California.

I visited this unique final resting place for Hollywoods elite, on November 17, 2009 and let me tell you, the place is amazing! There are so many celebrities jammed packed into this small cemetery thats a stones throw away from towering office buildings and busy Wilshire Boulevard. Paying my respects to all, especially Dominique Dunne and Heather O Rourke was tremendous, Westwood is truly worth the visit!
