On July 18th this year, I received an e-mail stating that my rental unit lock had been "tampered with". When I called the local office, I was told that in March, some vandals were apprehended trying to break into several of the units. I was told that "nothing in my unit had been taken" - when I asked how they would know, I was told that they could tell from the layer of dirt covering the contents. When I asked why I was only being informed now if my lock had been tampered with in March. I was told that they had no means of getting in contact with me. I advised that they had sent me the e-mail which prompted the call to their office; additionally, I have been registered on line since opening the account with Pubic Storage in Oakley. Additionally, I told them that I had just visited my storage locker in May and that my key worked fine, why did I need to replace the lock. The manager told me to "hold on for a minute" set the handset down and never came back to the phone, despite my hearing shuffling and noise in the background. After waiting and listening to background noise for about 10 minutes, I hung up the phone and called the Pubic Storage office back and no one answered the phone. I tried to call back at least twice after that call and never reached anyone. Over the course of the near 3 years Ive rented the storage unit, I have visited to either find an item or add some items to my storage. In any of those visits did I ever find anyone in the office or walking the grounds that I could see. On two of those occasions, I also called the office and did not reach anyone - nor were any of my phone calls returned. The last times I visited - about a little over a month in between visits I was unable to exit the location, due to my access code not working on the exit gate - only the entrance gate. I had to wait until someone else had come to access their storage unit, then exit just after they entered, before the gate began to close. The inside of the rental unit is absolutely filthy and inundated with dirt, litter, and dust - ostensibly from the road traffic, about 25 or 35 feet away; great effort to assure all contents are sealed in boxes or plastic containers, otherwise the dirt would absorb into your stored items. Im certain that a rental unit above ground would likely be less inundated with dust, dirt, litter. Ironically, the ground units rent for more than the upper units. It also seems rather evident to me that some of the other reviews appear to be written by the same person - or those people have phenomenal sycophantic complexes for rental unit administrators. Is that an allusion that the manager, "Sunny" calls clients during the month? the only call Ive ever received was the one commented upon, below. This writing is actually the second review of this pubic storage location in Oakley - where I was compelled to write my experience to be posted on their website. That former rant appears to have just disappeared after I posted it. Too bad, my original posting was much more colorful and contained a few other - and some of my better sarcasm and biting commentary, I dont mind saying. Maybe I expect too much. Naw. For $137/month for just 7’. 6’ space? There should be the basic consideration: safe, secure storage; working entry/exit gates, management "reachable" and occasionally visible. I think Id be better off with without the space - you gotta ask yourself if you can do without something, pretty much for 3 years, how badly do you really need all that "stuff"? JJ Schwark

well jazmin is great as far as employees they need a reevaluation when it comes to the safe keeping and addressing the concerns of a customers straight order "no one is authorized in my storage unit" . Ive had to deal with someone stealing my purse which contained the storage keys and gate code and I had to pay to have a new lock put on .then my keys were stolen again and the person went to the storage place I called immediately stressing no one is authorized to be in the storage unit and the employee was supposed to go make sure no ones in it ...and to put a security lock on it. well the person that was in was told to take as long as he wanted which was against my order by the employee and he gave him the security lock to put on after he was done and was told he could take his time. the storage was ransacked and everything was stolen there were empty boxes and a chair that remained. Ive emailed public storage several times to get no response at all.I talked to my lawyer and he said that I can sue the company. I have insurance that is $3000.00 I paid when I got the storage .

I recently took a trip to the Oakley public storage location. Im currently in the process of moving and went in to buy boxes. The employee there, her name is Teana, helped me pick out the right sizes for my belongings and I feel like it was a great deal. I felt so at ease with her. She smiled and was very warm and welcoming the entire time. Moving into a new place can be stressful but Teana assured me that Public Storage had everything I needed to make things go smoothly. She also informed me on the great prices on their storage units, I will definitely be back to get mine! Its hard to find good customer service these days, but I highly commend Teana on her knowledge and sweet demeanor.

I have been storing at this place for a while now and everytime i go there the manager Jazmin is always smiling and always in a great mood. Its great to see someone that truly enjoys what she does and takes care of her customers. The first thing that made me rent here was how clean the grounds were, it really makes a good impression. I have a space that is inside and its air conditioned which is very nice to have your items climate controlled. The price is about the same as the going rate but would stay if it was a bit more just for the service i get. I recommend!!!

I moved from the East Coast, over 2900 miles. I shopped for a storage unit based only on price. I was fortunate in choosing Public Storage. The facility was easy to locate with easy access to the unit. But, more importantly I was impressed with the manager, Sunny. I watched as she checked doors, checked locks, cleaned items left behind by tenants and handled each tenant as they came through the door with an attention to detail, professionalism and care. Sunny is not only a great spokesperson/manager for Public Storage but a friendly face in a new town.

Sadly today was my last day at public storage in Oakley. The property manager Jazmin was great she always took time to get to know me when I came in to make my payment she always ask me questions about things we talked about the last visit she always remember my name and always had a smile. The property was clean organized and had lots of merchandise to choose from. My unit was true to size had a nice roll up door in easy access I will 100% recommended Public Storage
