From the street, Brew Hawg is hard to notice and you could easily drive past it and not even know that BBQ could be found in the little business strip. The place is located back from the street and the parking lot; without much signage, even when youre standing in fron of it, youre not sure. Out in front of the restaurant, there are a few tables for dining and relaxing outside. Once inside, there are a few table scattered in front of the walk up, counter service. The menu is comprised primarily of sandwich plates and meat plates. My wife and I decided on the sandwiches and chose to give the brisket a try. The meat plates with two meat choices seemed like a lot of food for lunch. We were looking for a meat plate with just one BBQ choice, but it wasnt on the board. The staff was friendly and was helpful in describing the menu choices. She was also provided excellent service offering refills and servicing our table. The brisket sandwhiches were amazing. Good hunks of smokey BBQ flavor. The combination of the tart cranberry slaw and the brisket was delicious. Based on just the meats, Brew Hawg would rate another star higher. I really wanted to give this place a higher review, but the side dish was a bit of a disappointment. The rather small helping of garlic mash was a bit bland, with the consistency of instant mash potatoes. A strange after taste followed each mouthful. My wife ordered the coconut creme corn. The corn looked like the soft consistency of canned corn and looked a bit watery. As a do over, Id pick beans, fries or potato salad next time. I was a bit disappointed with the rootbeer. I found it unflavorful and a bit dilluted. After having one, it isnt something Id look forward to ordering again. Competition is tough because there are lots of restaurants in the area for BBQ. Improvement could be made by offering a single meat place and excelling at fewer flavorful sides to improve the quality and overall experience of the meal.

BBQ Purgatory. 4 meats, 2 sides. I went with 2 kinds of ribs, the brisket, and the pork tips. For sides, the creamy coconut corn and the cole slaw. And they were all glorious. I will quickly gloss over the things I enjoyed about this place. The brisket is the BEST. Extremely tender, and the sauce they use to cook it tastes amazing. Their spicy BBQ sauce is thicker than ones youll find around the area, and it has a distinct taste that Ive only found here. Coconut creamy corn? To die for. Its as described, but better when you eat it. I usually do not like cole slaw, but the way they make it here, its more on the sweeter side, and doesnt have such a spicy "kick", so to say. Root beer. Brewed in-house and on tap. Whoa. Never had it like that before and it just tastes naturally better than most root beers (Virgils is still better) but since its homemade, its one of the best Ive had. ALSO! The server/waitress there (Ashley, if I recall correctly) was very friendly and accommodating. She was patient and had great customer service. Thats awesome. On the neutral side, the place is VERY small, so dont expect to dine in if its busy. Also, the ribs were just okay. Nothing great, but the brisket was a much better choice. I recommend coming here for good BBQ in Orange!

We stopped here because of the great reviews on Yelp, and we were not disappointed. I cant remember the name of the sandwich we tried, it was brisket on grilled Texas toast with cheese, grilled cheese with brisket, with side of cream corn. Both were so tasty and filling. The hubby had a combo plate which consisted of two choices of meat, with two sides. He chose the tri-trip and ribs, cream corn and Mac n cheese. He loved it, but I think he liked my sandwich better!!! We also tried the fries with cranberry peanut slaw and pulled pork, way better than any carne asada fries Ive ever tried, and the root beer... it was good for home brewed. The place is super small, 2 or 3 tables, so you pretty much have to eat and leave. The food is worth the stop!!!

This shop is pretty small but they have a big flavor. BBQ was amazingly delicious and the Root Beer was pretty good for a homemade. I ordered the 3 Meat meal and a half rack of Baby Back Ribs (some pieces were dried, but still good). (The portion looked small but it was a lot!) The cornbread was heaven. For the sides, I got creamed corn and garlic mashed potatoes. Now a days i noticed that not many places have actual mashed potatoes; they used powder in which you can taste, but this place does it for real, in which i love. Almost forgot, the briskets and pulled pork was just beyond descriptions, you just have to try it. Brew Hawg will definitely be one of my go to when im in the area. Lucilles is like the last last resort lol.

I dont know how anyone can give this place less then 4*. The food is awesome and the service is as good as it gets. Sorry they arent mind readers and cant have your order ready the moment you walk in but for some people that would be to quick, minus 2 stars. The pulled pork is really good and so is the chicken, ribs, and side of cream corn is awesome. All the food is good.

Mom and pop BBQ is starting to make a showing in Orange County with some new places opening up. You have The SmoKing Ribs in Garden Grove, which is phenominal, and this place, Brew Hawgs, here in Orange. I thought their ribs were ok, the Tri-tip and pulled pork were pretty fantastic. Plus they have a BBQ Waffle cone! Ill definitely be coming back.

F this place? Really? Life just isnt convenient enough for some people. SMH...this place is fantastic! Straight forward awesome barbeque joint with a laid back vibe. Had the mac-daddy bowl today with extra pulled pork...phenomenal as always! Definitely worth the 3 seconds wait that we were forced to endure. ;-) Thanks Brew Hawg!

Have ate here a few times now. Amazing every time! Ive sampled most menu items, cant go wrong with any choice so far. Their home brewed root beer is also very delicious. Employees, cooks and the owner Leo have met me every time Ive came in, very friendly. Great bbq, highly reccomend.

Small shop, but amazing food and lovely people. The owner says he wanted to have sides that "spoke for themselves". With the coconut creamed corn, cranberry coleslaw, and Mac n cheese, that is certainly the case! The pulled pork was also wonderfully tender.
