Its always a pain to receive the dreaded smog-check notice from the DMV. In the past Ive made appointments at places closest to me only to turn around when I saw their hole-in-the-wall shops. The first time I used Foothill Smog I was a little concerned when I arrived because the shop was in one of those auto repair strip malls where you just know theres a chop-shop somewhere in the building. But since the owner sounded so professional on the phone and the price was right, I decided to take a chance. I was pleased to find it a professional operation despite the location and I was in and out in about 20 minutes. On my most recent trip I found that theyd moved to a new location (a freestanding building) and I was quite impressed. The owner has created a very slick, franchise-like presentation - fast efficient intake, a clean comfortable waiting area with a meticulously restored cherry-red classic muscle car smack dab in the middle of the room (which to me, is a steel and chrome illustration of the owners commitment to quality of service and customer experience.) If I didnt already have a "committed relationship" with another mechanic (sort of like a woman with her hairdresser...) Id use Foothill for other service and repair without a moments hesitation.

I strongly recommend Avo and Foothill Smog & Auto. I found this place via what seemed like to-good-to-be-true ratings on the internet. Well, they were right. And Ive now been taking my Subaru to Avo for over 2 years for all of my auto services, from changing the oil, to tracking down why a check engine light was on, to changing the belts, to work on the differential and power steering. They have always been honest, prompt, and most importantly good. I never feel pressured to do anything, and I always feel like theyre looking out for my car-related interests just like I would if I knew anything about cars. Ive recommended their services to others and each one has been equally impressed. I will be taking my car here until Im too old to drive - or I leave the area, whichever comes first.

If I could sum up my experience with Foothill Smog & Auto Repair, it would be . . . AWESOME! Id tried a few other auto repair places within the local area and, although some were a bit better than others, I wasnt totally satisfied. So, based on the reviews Id read about them, I decided to give them a try and I could not be happier with the results! Avo took the time to explain the issues and options prior to doing anything and to answer any questions that I had. I never felt he was trying to pull a fast one on me or to get me to agree to have work done on my car that really didnt need to be done by using "scare" tactics. Thank you both, Avo and Mariam, for your honesty, courtesy, professionalism, and integrity!

All around great service. This was my first smog check since moving to CA and I went here because he was the nicest on the phone. Everyone in the shop was friendly, courteous and helpful. I would go here again and recommend it to a friend. They are by appointment only though so make sure you plan ahead. I cut it close but they still helped me out. Update: Its been a couple years since I wrote the above review and I just wanted to update this because Avo and the team are great. Ive taken both of our vehicles here a few times and they do not fail to be helpful, friendly, honest (a big deal with anything car related) and punctual (another big with anything Los Angeles related).

The 5-star reviews dont lie. I first went to Avo after my dealer quoted $1,000 just to determine whether a timing chain needed to be replaced (had the answer been "yes," then the total bill would have been ~$2,000). Avo discovered the true source of the issue and my bill was $500. I trust Avo and the rest of the guys at Foothill Smog and have sent at least five friends and coworkers his way since my first visit-- theyve all been equally happy with the service (and rates) theyve received. Traditionally car work is thought of as one of lifes pains. Although well never enjoy paying for repairs of any sort, Avo has made this area worry free for me.

This was my first visit to Foothill smog and auto repair (for a smog check). my first impression this is a really nicely maintained shop and the owner is meticulous. upon meeting Avo, and getting me checked in he was very friendly and competent. I was amazed my smog check was completed in less than half hour. i certainly will be bringing my car here for regular service and i expect the same attention to detail with my car as the staff pays to their establishment and to my smog check. Great job Foothill Smog!!

Avo and his wife run a great shop! I did a smog check two years ago (2014). I needed an other smog check for this year (2016) and decided to add on an oil change and a multi-point check. All requested service went well and the multi-point check was thorough and very informative. I am more than satisfied with the service and highly recommend Foothill Smog. Not only do Avo and his team do a great job, they are incredibly honest and considerate. For an annual check, they dont fabricate problems, so that if little or nothing is wrong, you walk away having paid a shockingly small amount. What an enormous contrast with the dealer I used to go to. For larger repairs, they keep you continuously informed of whats going on until the car can be picked up. They strive to keep the shop a friendly and professional place.

Once again, my experience with Avo at Foothill Smog was top-rate. During a regular service visit, he was thorough enough to notice a deep slash in one tire, which he urged me to take care of immediately. The tire place we use was nearby, so I drove right there to have them take a look; they agreed it was dangerous and replaced it. Thank you, Avo, for sparing me from a blowout on the freeway! And for all your good care over the years.

I went there for a smog check because of all the review I read. The price they have posted on the website were completely different. When I mention the website prices, they said that were raised and havnt changed it then they tried to get personal information. But who would pay 72 for a smog check? When about a block away there are multiple places where you can get a smog check for about 50. This place is really shady in my opinion.

Quality, honesty, value. Prior to moving to New Jersey, Foothill smog provided my auto care for nearly seven years (82 Toyota Landcruiser, 2001 Honda Accord, 2007 Honda CRV). Avo and his crew provide the highest quality of service, impeccable honesty, reliably, while still efficient and a great value. Since moving, the thing I miss most is the service we had at Foothill. Havent found a replacement that is anywhere near as good.
