12/21/13 I can not give them a star. Well...Im being made to give them a star Last Saturday, I brought my car in for an oil change, a change of windshield wipers, and a new headlight. Apparently they rotated my tires too. I didnt know they did this. With all of the hustling at the end, adding air to my tires and what not...I was feeling impressed. Not by the time I made it to the traffic light on Artesia and Aviation. I was too hungry to turn around and said to myself I will come back...i just have to have something to eat. While depressing my clutch and applying my brakes...something was squeaking and creaking very loudly in my back end. it sounds like it is either rotating or torquing. A week later, I still have the problem. I took it to a mechanic friend, he took the back wheels off, checked for wear and tear, looked in the trunk area...did the same. He was baffled! I returned the following morning...explained what I was hearing and that I needed to be helped first thing. I didnt get the service persons name...a tall latino, a big guy, asked me what the problem was. after hearing my description he mentioned my rotors. I said I had had my brakes done fairly recently. He asked if my mechanic machined them. Yes, he always does them correctly. I later come to find out that the rotors are only on the front wheels. And so that would have been impossible anyway. He asked me if I wanted my tires rotated back. I said "yes". Of course that wouldnt have fixed anything...that was not the problem. There wasnt any offer of getting to the bottom of the problem and taking ownership of it. I can not believe that my car was in very good running condition upon coming in (no noises, no problems, drives very well) and I drive away with a problem. What happened here??? Needless to say, I will never return. I posted this on FB and I can see Im not alone. Not a very good history Pep Boys on Artesia.

I dont know why I keep coming back to this Pep Boys. They NEVER do good work. All my cars Ive taken there has always come back worst then going in. My latest adventure was I took my car in for a simple brake job because my brake pedal would vibrate when slowing down. I knew it was the rotors. So I bought a pair and put them in the back of the car. They tell me the vibration was due to the ABS system was faulty even though no ABS light was on. I told them to just do the front brakes they said okay. The call me later and told me they dont have any rotors for the car so they cant do the brake job. I told them that I happen to have a pair in the back of the car. They said okay. I get another call later telling me the rotors are the wrong size. I asked them if they could measure the both sets of rotors to make sure that they are the wrong size. The service manager said "that would mean I would have to measure them" I said that is correct. Then he said we dont do that here. I said okay Ill just pick up the car. So I took the car to the dealer to confirm if the ABS system was bad they said no. Every single time I go to this Pep Boys its like dealing with idiots! One of my car the took it for a test drive and the hood threw open and damage the hood! Go to the Pep Boys in Westchester they do much better work.

Had our brakes changed with them because of a mail in coupon we had for a $50 rebate. After the service was done, the guy gave us the form to mail in for the rebate, highlighting the service that we qualified for. Later on, we get a denial in the mail saying we didnt qaulify for that rebate. To make things worse, were driving downtown and the car brakes down. The brake falls off and damages the whole wheel and were stuck w/ two babies in the middle of downtown L.A. and the car wont even move!! So my husband has it towed to the nearest pep boys. They say it should be done today, and we wait around...no one calls us. So we call back. They keep transferring us to a phone that no one picks up at. We keep trying till finally their automated attendant announces they are closed. So were stuck in downtown LA w/ no car and two babies for over 5 hours till we find a ride back home. Very upset. Luckily this didnt happen while on the freeway.

Always had problems at this Pep Boys location with the Services. The mechanics will take advantage of you $$$$, if you dont know anything about your vehicle. If you have 4 hours to kill for a proper oil change, go there. They will keep you waiting around while they look for any little problems in your vehicle, when you just want a simple oil change. Last two time I went there, they overfill the oil in my vehicle (overfilling the oil can damage or destroy the engine). And both times I had to argue with the mechanics how to read the oil stick (the oil stick never lies!!!), the oil should never be above the line or above the "F". Plus I wanted a tire rotation, but no they took all the brakes apart and didnt do a tire rotation at all. One more thing, the outside of the store should be cleaned, and the trash cans should be emptied out. I heard the Pep Boys in Torrance is better...

My warranty expired on my car & this was my first experience away from the dealership. I obviously chose Pep Boys because of the huge marketing scheme they have, but I would warn anyone who wants their car to work after they pick it up to go somewhere else! I simply needed my brake pads replaced, but had to go back 3 times and still ended up going back to the dealership and paying a fortune to fix not only the initial issues but he damage caused by Pep Boys. The guy I spoke with at the dealership used to work at Pep Boys and told me they use after market parts, unlicensed mechanics and are sued on a regular basis for comparable situations. This is the situation in a nutshell, and it was obviously a much bigger nightmare, but I never write reviews and just wanted to take the time to warn everyone, its not worth the price!

ive been to other pepboys especially the one by Carson Mall and they treat me good over there and great service. i only came over here at the redondo beach pepboys because its closer to work and i need my break fix asap. i left it so as they promised will be inspected first thing in the morning. i gave them a call at noon time and they havent done nothing. around after 2pm they told me what needs tobe done and how much. i was told it will a little after 6pm it will be ready. when i go there after work around 5 they havent started with my truck. now they tell me itll be ready after 2 hours!! oh im so mad. so they dont hold up with their promise and idk .... i dont want say anything else but i just have this bad bad feelings towards them.i know itll be the total opposite in Carson Pepboys
