Ill Be Honest: I needed a haircut. I had a coupon. I walked in. A far cry from my days of having my hair cut for $65^ in San Diego. Julie, the stylist who cut my hair, was working on a lad who looked about 14. As he rose from the chair and came toward the front of the establishment my better 9/10ths commented that his haircut looked good. I replied, well sure, hard to mess up a good looking kid with a full head of naturally curly hair. I, on the other hand, am on the far side of 45, with longish hair with male pattern baldness thinning out my front and a bare patch on my crown steadily expanding like the circular burned center of a slow moving fire. I told Julie what I was hoping for, not knowing if my thinning pattern and directionally defiant follicles would allow it. She considered my head and hair and assured me she could make what was left up top behave through layering, a technique that while still very much used to this day was very much en vogue in the 70s and 80s. Mine was a tall order as beside trying to restore order to a head of hair that has seen better days (okay- decades), Julie had to cut it as short as I wanted while still allowing for enough length to allow me to tie it back when I preferred. She was extremely responsive to my input, cutting it back a tad farther at my request. The end result was a cut that pleased both myself and my girlfriend and stands as the best hair cut I have received in the over 2 years since I moved back north from San Diego. Needless to say I will be returning to Sports Clips and Julie. And if she can cut my hair to my specs she can cut anyones. The place was clean and well kept and the staff was attractive, polite and attentive. They even accommodated our request to change the televised sports to a live baseball game (Satellite TV). Live sports and a good haircut at a great price. Not a bad proposition at all. EDIT: Having read this over it comes off as a shill. Well, while I dont know exactly how to prove it, its not.
