Ive been hearing about CG for a few years and FINALLY made it in last night with the wife. The place wasnt very busy which seemed unusual considering the wonderful smells in the air, the unique drafts on tap, and the atmosphere. The walls are decorated very vibrantly with what appears to be murals by local artists. Drink specials were the stars of the menu last night. I had a maple bacon manhattan which comes with a strip of bacon in it. DELICIOUS! You can sample the beers on tap (which I did...they have one called Tangerine that tastes just like...well, you guessed it). Their menu, which comes on clipboards (cute) features an entire page of vegetarian food, some of which I was tempted to try myself. I had the "Leaky Roof" which was absolutely delicious. Their fries are thin (not as thin as BJs), crispy, and delicious! They play a 70s top 40 pandora station. I loved every song. Id highly recommend CG and look forward to going back, hopefully on a night on which they have an event planned. Im looking forward to Geek Quiz Nights in December.

One of my favorite past times with a certain friend is going out to eat and critiquing on the place, service, food & specialty drinks, etc. Well, Capitol Garage has been on our list to try for about two years... we finally made it there last Sunday and the experience was well worth the wait! The only thing that I would have liked that would make it perfect is if the burger was rare to med rare (as ordered), rather that well done. But even the well done burger was yummy! Oh, and I would have liked to have tried one of the desserts, but my friend and I ran out of time for another appointment. The sauce on the yalla noodle dish was flavorful as was the chicken, and the broccoli was cooked perfectly--heated but still had a good crunch, just the way I like it! And our server, Vanessa was awesome! Very accommodating, knowledgable about the menu items, kind, and she laughed at my silly jokes! Capitol Garage is now high on our list to enjoy a good meal on a Sunday and visit our new friend, Vanessa! Looking forward to trying their breakfasts! ;-)

CG was one of few places open on Christmas day. Id read positive reviews, so I booked a late reservation of 9:15pm for my boyfriend and I. After traveling all day from DC, we were turned away at the door. The manager on duty told us that the kitchen had closed for the night at 9pm. You can imagine my frustration and shock when we had just a short time earlier in the day received a call from someone at the restaurant to confirm our reservation time. The person who called said that they were running low on everything, but agreed to set aside two burgers for us. When I asked the manager why they would even accept a 9:15 reservation when they closed the kitchen at 9, she did not answer me. She offered us a couple of drinks and a dismissive apology. After traveling across the country, we needed food, not booze, so we left. Thankfully, a local theater had concessions available, so we ended up having hot dogs and popcorn for Christmas dinner. I have never been treated so poorly by a manager of a restaurant in my life.

The food here is great. But they should give up trying to serve it a lunch. Seriously.I have gone in there twice mid-lunch hour. The first time it took 30 minutes; today it was 40. Thats right: 40 minutes from the time I ordered until I was handed my to-go sandwich and fries. You just cant operate a counter-service lunch place that is THAT slow. 5-10 minutes is standard wait; 15 is acceptable. 30-40 minutes means something is seriously wrong in the kitchen. I went the second time to see if the first time was a fluke. It was not. Every single person in there was bugging the staff about where their food was. "Im late for my meeting" was a common refrain... as was "ill need to get that to go now." This means it takes way longer than most people would have anticipated. Fix it or fold it up....people wont be coming back after too long.

This was a ridiculous location. The bartender was the quintessential rudest white guy there is. According to the California State law regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages, UNITED STATES FEDERAL permanent resident card is an acceptable form of an ID. It has a birth date, name AND picture along with a unique code number for every individual. It is encrypted with heavy security. This ID acts as a passport and I dont even need passport when I travel in US because this ID is like a passport. It has the same importance. KNOW YOUR LAWS. Ive been 21 for a while now and youre the first bar whove refused. Better employee education please. And even if you were gonna refuse, do it nicely, dont make fun of the person and laugh with the other ppl at the bar. Youre gross. And your food sucked too.

The service here is excellent. Every server was on point: cheerful and fast. Sadly, the menu took a hit recently and they now serve only lunches all day. I was looking forward to a steak, but they are no more. The food is generally quite good, but not worth the prices they charge. My friends had very good burgers, but my fish tacos were meh. The flavors just didnt work. The draft beers are good, but Id prefer to read them from a menu somewhere, rather than have the wait staff tell me. Use a Groupon when you come here, or it isnt worth it. Park where you can, or use the garages next door. Careful: one is a flat 6 bucks and the other is like three times the price. No idea how they can do that. All in all, not worth what we spent and I probably wont come back.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND CAPITOL GARAGE!!! I went there to order breakfast to go as I was on a break which I was told would only take 15 minutes. I was told to be seated and someone would bring it out to me. I waited and watched as a server brought out a to go meal but was unaware it was mine. She never asked me if I was waiting to be served or anything. Another 10 minutes and I had to ask where was my meal. They didnt know and checked with the kitchen to find out my food had been sitting now for 15 minutes. The server apologized but the guu who took the order and didnt communicate with her failed to apologize. I asked for a refund because I didnt want soggy frenchtoast for $12 and my break had gone and left. He was not concerned so I will not go back!

Weve been coming here for a few months for trivia. Both the menu and the service have remained lackluster, so its no wonder people seem to ONLY come here for trivia. We sat for five minutes before a server asked us if we needed a menu. Then he warned us that the kitchen would be closing in 30 minutes. It was 8:15. Why close the kitchen at 8:45 when the quiz doesnt even start until 8:30? We ordered our food, then the server asked us if we would like anything else. Yes, as a matter of fact, we would like some drinks. Sorry for the (apparent) inconvenience. Again, the only reason we (and apparently everyone else) come here is for the trivia. Good luck lasting another six months, Capital Garage.
