Plenty of businesses get the job done when things go according to plan, but the true test is: how does a business behave when something goes wrong? After Dup A Key programmed a car key for me, something strange happened to my cars computer, which caused the car to behave strangely. I have a really old VW, so it wasnt too surprising, but I figured it was connected to the new key, even though the key worked fine. I took it back, and they handled the situation calmly and professionally. It turned out that it was just a random glitch, and was easily fixed. But what impressed me was their professionalism and commitment to fixing the situation, even though it was no ones fault. Ive used them a few times now - for lockouts, lock changes, and duplicate keys, and have gotten great service every time. I dont write many reviews online, but I feel compelled to spread the good word about these guys.

Awesome Service!! I was really surprised that a Locksmith service in Pacific Beach could help. I was out this weekend and lost my key to my Lexus. I called the Lexus dealer and they said they would have to replace my cars computer in order to get a new key. They estimated the cost to be $800.00 plus labor. Almost $1200.00. Thats RIDICULOUS! For just one key? Oh and dont forget towing another thing overlooked when I stupidly canceled my roadside insurance last year. So after looking around I found Dup-A-Key. They were very helpful on the phone Vince explained how they were able to use the existing computer and program new keys. No tow, half the price of the dealership and he was out to help me in about 30 min. I of course saved the phone number and will be passing it along to all my friends if they ever need a locksmith. Thank you Vince and Dup-A-Key for saving me.

Great guys, great service, best prices. (My disclaimer, I knew the Fisk brothers before they opened Dup-A-Key in PB. They have always been hard working, fast and super about pricing. Fortunately this is close to home.) Vince saved my wife in PB after she locked the keys in the car during our daughters karate practice at United Studios on Garnet. Unlocked within 15 minutes of the call! My wife now gets all our house and car keys there. Anyway Vince, Wes and Claire are great! Cheers!

When I locked myself out of my house I originally called Ethan Locksmith company and they quoted me $60. When the guy showed up he told me this type of door knob would cost $115, possibly more if he runs into problems trying to open it. I felt I was being scammed so my neighbor told me to call Dup A Key. Weston came out right away, opened my door under 30 seconds and charged me $75. Thank you!

Posted hours are incorrect! Opens at 10am Mon-Sat, 12 noon on sunday, and closes at 6pm every day. Theyre probably reachable in emergencies outside those hours (I dont know) but these are the times posted on their entry. Great place for key cutting and car key programming. They even threw in a free metal car key for surfing;)

I needed a key made at an awkward time. Vince at Dup-A-Key was very courteous and professional. He really made it convenient for me. These guys are amazing! They are fast, efficient, and customer service was exceptional. I called them for a duplicate because I lost my car keys, and they were able to assist me within an hour. In addition, their prices are fair and economical. Thanks again for all the help. You guys are the best!

My Honda Civic ignition would not work. My car door was also not working properly. They came the same day and fixed both problems for a very reasonable price. They explained all the prices up front. I was happy to have my car working within 2 hours.

Perfect service. They managed to duplicate a key where many others failed. It wasnt easy and it took couple of attempts, but they were extremely nice and professional. Definitely recommended, and worth the trip from wherever you live.

Whoever answers the phone should actually sound like hes happy to get a phone call and answer customer questions. I was put off by the tone of voice of the tech who answered the call and Ill be going elsewhere for my car needs.

Couldnt find anyone else in town to cut me a duplicate key for my 2001 MZ Baghira. Vince cut me 2 in 5 minutes. Very reasonable prices, friendly staff! Will definitely be going back!

BMW owners, they will only cut keys that they sell. Price is same as the Dealer. better of going to the Dealer.

Fast service for sure. But their re-key is pretty expensive compared to just buying a new lock altogether
