Im so saddened to share this review but felt it might protect someone. I had been a member for months, going 5 or 6 days a week. For some reason, management insisted on installing a large wooden sauna right in the middle of the locker room. There was no space for it, but all of a sudden there was a big wooden sauna with all of the benches facing the changing area. Not just facing, but literally 2 foot away. It was like a front row seat to everyone changing. Why would they put members in this situation? In any case, I - like most members - ignored the compromise of the locker room until one day I looked up and there was a guy in the window, filming me as I emerged from the shower and started changing. When I reported it, I was not taken seriously. The GM blew me off. He was rude, inappropriate, and refused to connect me with the owner (who is usually on site). Never once did anyone ask fore details (who/when/where). It was suggested that the sauna person was checking their email. I have a BA in photojournalism... I know what it looks like when people are filming. The Club also suggested that it would be unfortunate if the person was merely checking Facebook, etc. and being wrongfully accused. Again, they were speculating on a situation they never investigated, trying to cover their ass. Blame the victim. Whats really sad about this whole situation is the club always espouses positive vibes/karma in all of their messaging, but became combative and leaderless when called to act. In all their messaging, they keep implying that I might be wrong. Why would anyone pay for such treatment?

As soon as I walked in I was not greeted with a happy welcome. I was basically looked down upon as I approached the front desk. In my head I thought "ok, whats going on? Do they even want me here? Is this how they treat all of their potential new customers/clients?" Later I thought nothing of it and then proceeded for a tour of the gym. The staff member that toured me seemed doubtful and unenthusiastic that he HAD to tour me through the facility. Im an educated, smart, and easy going person and I thought "damn, this is really weird! Why am I being treated like this?" I came into the gym for an interview for a training position they had opened up that I saw online. Im a CSCS and have extensive experience in corrective exercise modalities. I thought ok Ill give it a try and speak to the manager. The managers there seemed so arrogant it was really disturbing!! "We are an upscale gym and we only cater to upscale people" as he arrogantly exclaimed with his nose held in the air. Then he said they charge $85 dollars an hour per session!! Upscale!? I think not! Ive been to private invitation only facilities where trainers charge $100 to $200, even $300 an hr!! These facilities Ive worked out of bring big names and people at the top %1 of the world! Names like Bill Gates and Michael Dell frequent these private residences especially down at Kukio on Hawaii Island. Plus, the equipment at Point Loma is run down and old. Its a great gym if youre white, middle upper class, and like to keep up with the joneses. If youre brown skinned, go somewhere else!!!

I have been a member at Point Loma Sports Club for about 6 months now and I am so glad I made the choice to join. It is the most clean, spacious, and well equip gym I have belonged to and offers a great selection and variety of classes. Everyone that I encounter at the front desk and all of the trainer are always kind, friendly, and helpful. I love how they provide both wet and dry towels. A nice plus. Also, the bathrooms/locker rooms are always sparkling clean! There is tons of nice and new equipment and it never feels too crowded. The early morning (5:15am!) Body Pump and Kickboxing with Nacho are great! He is really an awesome instructor. Its tough to find classes that early so that is really nice. I have also been doing personal training with Brittany for the last two months. She is Amazing. Great trainer, motivator, and really helping me to work to achieve my personal fitness goals. I continue to receive complements as I continue to progress with her. I cant say enough good things about Brittany! I LOVE the stretching room - great machines and quiet space for stretching before and after working out. Also, its nice to have the giant "machine" room separate from the giant multi-function room with the TRX, ropes, medicine balls, turf and tires. You can literally doing almost anything here. I still need to try the spin classes - that is next on my list!

What a great find! I looked all over San Diego for a gym that would have everything I need and finally found that in Point Loma Sports Club. They have great group classes (yoga, kickboxing, cycling, TRX, Les Mills and way more) and a clean, open space that is never crowded and always well taken care of. They have a variety of different equipment: all the standard stuff (but the nicest, newest models of the standard stuff) plus TRX straps, a basketball court, battle ropes, this big tire thing, and way more then I could ever think of off the top of my head. So far I havent found another gym in SD that offers all that in one place. But honestly its all the little things that make this place a world above the rest- like the locker rooms that feel more like my bathroom at home then a gross gym locker room, or the staff who always make it a point to remember your name and say hi as you walk in and out. (I dont know about anyone else, but this is the only gym Ive been to where a trainer I barely recognized noticed I came in twice in one day and immediately ran over to high-five me and say good work. What?! Yes please to that level of customer service.) All in all, it has everything I could want, and I couldnt be happier to spend the money every month to be a part of it.

This is hands down the only gym/fitness program that Ive tried in San Diego that Ive stuck to and for good reason! They have all the equipment one could ever need and none of that super macho vibe youll find at many other gyms in Southern California. This is seriously the kind of place where they make you feel like home. Im from a small town so I dig that. In addition, PLSC is clean, never too crowded, in a great location down at Liberty Station and offers plenty of classes and other amenities. The staff is awesome - they genuinely love what they do and it shows. Ryan, who opened our accounts, knew our names by the second day and makes a point to say hey every time my roommate and I are there. That goes for all the staff - super personal, super helpful and just all around good people. Long story short, if you live in the area and are looking for a gym - this is your place!

Let me start by saying, I am NOT a "gym" person. But this place is close to my office and I had to do something to get in better shape, so I thought Id give it a try. Ive been going for 3 months and Ive lost 8 pounds, have more energy and my balance has seriously improved. I go 3 times a week and love it. It has a wide variety of machines and classes and everyone that works there is super nice, knowledgeable and obviously enjoys what they do. I cant believe that I dont have to force myself to go, but I dont. I enjoy it. And with the instructors I actually push myself to do better, everytime. And when you improve (even in a class of 10) they notice. I am inspired! Thank you Crystal and Brandon
