After relocating to Southern California from Philadelphia, my search for a great black hair stylist has been no easy task. I visited Xplicit Hair in March and truly admired the owners positive energy. Unfortunately, my hair experience was less than satisfactory. Ive always enjoyed witnessing the "Before & After" effect while spending an afternoon at a lovely salon. Sadly, I watched many Xplicit clients leave with styles that did not look good. It seemed as if the owner of Xplicit was unaccustomed to natural styles including flexirods. Her equipment and machinery did not function effectively, forcing me to sit under the dryer for a total of 4 hours. Still, my hair was not completely dry. To my disappointment, the final result cost $85 and lasted only one night. While this may be a suitable salon for some women, I will continue to look elsewhere for a stylist who understands my hair wants and needs as a client.

I made an appointment with Duborra to get a flat iron or straightening service. She helped me understand how to take care of my natural hair. However, To my surprise she cancelled my appointment with her because I use to be a friend to someone that she is still friends with. I found it to be unprofessional and immature to cancel my appointment because her friend and I amicably ended a twenty year friendship years ago. If you are looking for a professional stylist, I would not recommend this salon. Its more like high school. San Diego is a very small city with a limited amount of black hair care professionals. Many people know each other here in this town. Not a business to deal with. She ended up saying that what happened between he friend and I in the past was none of her business, she was right it wasnt. But still she made it her business instead of running a salon business.

Xplicit Hair is run by the very capable Mrs McCampbell. Some places are so big that it seems like you are lost in a crowd. She only handles two clients at a time so I never feel neglected. Her personalized service starts from the moment you show up until the moment you leave. I have been going to Explicit for many years and I have never had a bad hair incident. She keeps up with the latest styles & techniques. Including scalp issues & Steam treatments. I highly recommend her to everyone

I came to San Diego on vacation and previously had a keratin complex on my hair. Due to the humidity my hair was horrible within the first day. I called DeBorah on Thursday and she was able to do my hair by Friday. My hair looked better than when I first got the keratin complex. DeBorah did a great job and my hair still looks good. I definitely would recommend to anyone wanting a qualified beautician.

This is a great place to get your hair done! I have thin hair and she made it lon nice, healthy, and thick! She explained to me everything she was doing to my hair and how to take care of it! She is very friendly and has great customer service skills. Great stylist. I will definitely be returning!

Deborah did a great job with my hair. Ive been in California for over a year and have not been able to find some one to do my natural hair. Only thing I would have to complain about is that she does get very busy but thats because shes very good at her job!

I found Deborah and am so thankful for it! I have a ton of hair and she always gets me out in under 2 hours and it looks fabulous! She did my color and it came out amazing exactly what i was looking for highly recommended!!!
