This is the worst place to get a haircut. If you really want to waste your time and your money this is the place. The stylist spend a hour just cutting around my head and ears. I show her a picture of the haircut that I want and she didnt do what I ask her to do. When she was done I ask her if she could trim a bit more and she got mad at me. If you really call yourself a "barber" do what the customer ask for. This place doesnt have A/C or any fans to keep the place cool. The stylist is nice, but not experienced enough for what she charges. The haircut isnt worth the fee charged. Furthermore the fee listed for the haircut is listed as two dollars less. I guess because I told her to cut more of my hair she decided the price should be higher. The haircut should have been $24 but she charged me $26. I didnt get the haircut that I ask for. I end up totally cover with my own hair from head to toe. The stylist didnt even bother to cover me with a drape after it fell off during the haircut. The stylist even scratched me four times! Bottom line- terrible cut and overpriced. I will never go back again . 2 thumbs down

YOU need to GO here. After a disappointing haircut from a salon, I decided to head over to this barber shop to get my hair "fixed." It was not until I sat on the chair with Carla that she was able to point out all the mistakes from the previous stylist. Carla is an artist, and her work proves it. She was able to fix me up and make me look great! I was beyond happy. Best thing about her is that she is able to point out how your hair is (i.e. the way your flows and is fixated on your head.) Not everyone can get the exact haircut from those online photos, but Carla is able to transform your hair to a photo worthy style. She works with you along the way to make the cut you want, at times her suggestions and how she explains the way your haircut could be better is refreshing compared to other barbers. She sees how your hair correlates with the formation of your face and she works around that. You will NOT be disappointed here. She is a sweet Colombian woman who is a pleasure to talk to. I am definitely returning here for all my future cuts! 5 out of 5 stars! - Luis

I gave Cali Barber Shop and Art 1 out of 5 stars and I was so excited to go there, I would give it 0 stars if I could because of this. I never really had a haircut from a barber and I though why not try it out. I went online and looked up best haircuts in Santa Cruz and I found Cali Barber Shop it had 77 reviews and 4.9/5 stars and some of the reviews said it was the best haircut they had in years. My brother, mom, grandma and I, went to get our haircuts. We went there and while we were waiting for our haircuts the barber asked our race and we said Iranian then she went on to say how Iran is a danger to America and how Iran is attacking Syria, she mistaked Iranians as Isis so you can tell shes not the brightest. We all left there was no way we were staying after that. We were gonna call the owner and report this barber so that the whole place isnt affected by 1 barber but when we called we found out that barber was the owner. More than mad at the owner I felt bad that some people are so uneducated about what is going on in the world.

I want to thanks to all my customers that have gave me a 5 starts, but I want to give them these 5 starts, because without their help I cant do a great job. This is a job between the customer and I. It is to bad that Yelp hiding all my reviews and not only that, when people try to find a barber shop in down town Santa Cruz or the closed ones they pass over my barber shop and show barber shops that are located out of the mileage that they are looking for. Yelp only show up the good ones that paid them and the bad ones that dont paid too, to show people that they are doing a great job with the information wish is totally wrong. They tell people go to the filter but that word is fade off and you have to have very good eyes if you want to see the word. I want to say thanks to Google to be honest with all of us. That is why more and more people trust Google day by day. Thanks to all of you for your support. K.G.

My experience could not have been more convenient or pleasant. Carla is both a wonderful professional and conversationalist. The environment is simple and despite the location; there is specific parking for the Business. I have been to several of the Salons in Santa Cruz, for a very simple and classic Mens Haircut. But, I have been deeply disappointed by the results of the stylists that I can only assume are much more accustomed to cutting Womens Hair. I consider myself to be a very high maintenance person and have always thought that I would need to pay a premium price for a decent haircut. Carla only charges $20 for a Cut, without a Wash. This experience may not be the same, for everyone. Again, I have a fairly classic hairstyle and did not need any intensive processes done. But, for a Classic Mens Haircut: This is certainly the best place, in Santa Cruz.

Karla is about the sweetest old Colombian woman youd ever care to meet. This is the best haircut Ive had except for one time in Japan. Im Air Force and I have to get my hair cut about every two weeks; I know haircuts. If I lived around here, I wouldnt go anywhere else. Period. Shes the best. She offered me tea and cookies. She was extremely proffessional and warm too. Her place of business was small but very neat, clean, and orderly. She taught me many little tricks to use to shape my hair. She even trimmed up my facial hair and showed me tricks for that. She takes her time and is very meticulous. She was fretting about individual hairs! I loved it.

Karla is amazing! My hair looks great, and she explained everything that she was doing and the reason for it. Shes very meticulous and precise, like an artist painting a picture, so it may take a LITTLE longer than youre used to. But trust me, its worth it, especially at such a great price. Oh, and heres the icing on the cake: complementary coffee (she even gave me a cookie on the way out) and the walls are covered with her own beautiful paintings. Seriously, if youre not convinced, just compare these reviews to all the reviews for super-expensive beauty salons. And then realize that Karla does a better job for a MUCH better price.

This place is great, honestly the best in Santa Cruz! I go here all the time and Karla is always willing to give me exactly the haircut I want, shes also very friendly and interesting. Theres art all over the shop and its really good, nice atmosphere. She really knows what shes doing when it comes to haircuts and the price is very good. I always forget exactly how I want my haircut done so she was kind enough to write it down for me exactly how I like the sides, the top, and how I want it blended. Ill keep coming here for as long as I live in Santa Cruz. Thanks Karla!
