When I moved back to the Bay from New York I was hoping to find a barber shop as good as the one I had back there. My initial experience at Marcellis was rough but once I found a regular barber and figured out how to schedule appointments its been great. Walk-ins: While they technically take walk-ins, you might have to wait for a really long time or sometimes not get a cut, so its important to call and try to set up an appointment with anyone. I tried 3 different barbers before I settled one. This was a frustrating process for me, because Im used to being able to just walk-in. It really depends on the staffing they have any given day. Quality of barbers: Ive only gotten cuts from the younger guys and they are all pretty amazing. They are patient, can figure a cut out from a picture and have some great skills. Cuts take about 30 minutes depending on what youre looking for. Ive had Chris and York cut my hair and both are great. Just looking around the place, everyone seems to give great cuts, including the female barber (not trying to be sexist) but she gives pretty great cuts too based on the results I see. Cost: Cash only. Prices differ slightly between barbers but around $15/cut not including tip. Scheduling: Once you pick a barber, he usually gives his cell phone number to help with future scheduling. It makes it really easy to text a few days in advance of when I need a cut and figure out a day and time that works for both of us Ive moved to Berkeley now and have only tried one barber shop outside of here and wasnt satisfied. So every two weeks, I take a drive down to Union City just for my cut; its worth it.

When I first moved from SF to Union City, this was my go to place. At first, it wasnt very busy, service was good, and prices were 25% lower that in SF. Over time, it became more popular, prices went up to match SF, and the customer service made you feel as if theyre doing you a favor. The final straw for me was when I scheduled an appointment, came in and was told that they mistakenly put me down for the next day. They acknowledged that the mistake was on their end, but made no effort at all to make it right (such as offer to take me earlier than the mistakenly scheduled time, a discount, etc). Im giving them two stars instead of one for old times sake.

Just moved here from Maryland 2 months ago, and have been looking for a barber ever since. My fiancée called this place on saturday for a cut. I was desperate and lucky Kristen said she could fit me in. Wow, Im used to the person Ive had cut my hair for years back home, she did a way better job. I am terrible at explaining How I want my hair cut but she killed it. Never had a better haircut, perfect fade. Honestly Ive been paying 40 per haircut back home this place much cheaper. Not sure how everyone else cuts hair here but Ill tell you what if you want a great haircut go to her. I will def be back every month.

I have been following and going to John Saca wherever hes been and now at Macellis. Hes been my barber since 1971, thats 49 years. He is the consummate professional and as we reminisce about the days gone by, we enjoy talking how I found John in the Brookvale Shopping Center and my haircuts are perfect for all these years

An inviting atmosphere, with friendly barbers. I get my cuts from Kristen, she knows her stuff and is willing to cut just the way you want it, or to help you develop your look. Never had a bad cut.
