I am a collegiate volleyball player at Claremont McKenna College, and I worked with Matt this past summer prior to my preseason training at school. Coming into my senior season with a recent surgery on my right shoulder, I was extremely nervous both about my chances of effectively rehab-ing my shoulder enough in order to be able to play for my final season, and about maintaining my overall fitness so I would be prepared for preseason/season. A good friend recommended Matt as the perfect guy for the job, and, needless to say, he was. Ive been in and out of physical therapy for the past 8 years for my shoulder, and Ive not once experienced someone as thorough and dedicated as Matt to pinpointing all the problem areas, and creating a plan to make them better. He constructed routines for me that not only incorporated shoulder physical therapy, but also allowed me to adequately prepare for a grueling collegiate preseason. Largely thanks to Matts influence this summer, I was able to play through my whole senior season of volleyball, and my team made it to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament, making us the team with the most wins ever in my schools sports history - I even made the NCAA All-Tournament Team. I wholly believe that my participation and contribution to this incredible last season would be nowhere near where it was without Matt, and I cant thank him enough for that (and probably should have thanked him sooner than this...). As someone who has been to 6 different facilities for physical therapy before going to Krave Fitness, I would not hesitate in recommending Matt first. Thanks again Matt, I really wouldnt have made it through the season without you!

Ive done sports all my life and did competitive track and field and volleyball all the way through college and afterwards. So Ive been through the usual train-compete-injury-strengthening cycles that competitive athletics inevitably lead to. Ive also been through conditioning and weight lifting with team coaches as well as Crossfit. So when I decided to train under Matt I had quite the baseline to compare him to. Matt impressed me. He gave me insights about my body I never heard of. I like how he works with surgical precision. On day one he identified all the muscle groups in my body that were limiting my movements or could lead to injuries and he gave me a list of stretches to do at home. Stretches that were different and more effective than what I knew. Ive been doing them and Ive been feeling better. During training he keeps me working hard but not too much that I cant get up in the morning yet I feel strong and I like how my body feels tight and more defined after a month or two of going twice a week. On top of that he spent extra time with me after class to help me figure out which muscles have been reprogrammed due to my 20-year-old back injury and we are working on programming them back to normal. My back pain has already improved and looking forward to getting rid of it completely. I will continue working with Matt because I dont think I can get the same results on my own.

Definitely one of the most thoughtful personal trainer Ive ever had! I have always been very athletic, and been teaching yoga for over 7yrs. When I shopped around for the best persona trainer I could find in the area, I found Matt. He was very generous and sincere on our first phone call, listening to what my concerns and thoughts are, explaining to me about his training theory, and offered me to see him in person the very next day for free just to try it out once. My past training experiences have mostly been a bit on the boring side for me, which I think might be a common problem for a lot of athletic people. So I could be very skeptical and picky when it comes to trainers. Matts training is definitely gonna kick your butt, make you work, and keep you interested, as he had done for me! He went through the assessment to understand my bodys limitation and capability, and then tailors every class around my own ability, push me just a bit harder than I had expected. Hes friendly and yet strict, knowledgeable and yet humble. He offers different exercises and modifications to different body types, different age groups. I would highly recommend Matt to anyone whos new or experience!

So Ive been working out with Matt going on 5 years now, and needless to say Im not sure what Id do without him. Sure theres other trainers out there that will give you exercises and have you lift weights, but what separates Matt from the others is that he actually understands and studies the science behind sports therapy and training, and is constantly pushing himself to learn and grow his own techniques as well as his clients. Hes also perfect if you suffer from any type of injury or debilitating physical issue and understands how to provide care and support to help you recover as quickly as possible while also working to strengthen and maintain those positive results at the same time. I really cant say enough good things about him, and thats just as a trainer. Hes also become a personal friend of mine, as well as his wife and children. If youre interested in a personal trainer I really do recommend you come see Matt, and Im not saying that just as a friend either. A+ business and trainer.

I decided to retire from my career as an electrical engineer about a year ago at the ripe old age of 66. Since my job involved a lot of sitting on my butt in front of a computer screen I became what I will call slightly fat. No major health problems but I decided I would certainly like to feel and look better. Enter Matt Chmelka, the trainer. My wife was already training with Matt and encouraged me to do the same. In about 10 months since I have been training with Matt, I have lost about 20 pounds, could do with a few more but I like to eat the wrong stuff a little too much. However, the energy and strength levels I have gained are amazing even to me. I am doing things now I could only look at others do before. Matt takes his time to make sure the expertise he has developed in his career is applied to you in the best possible way and correct rate. Exercising can be annoying on occasion but the effects are great.

I was a Division 1 soccer player at Saint Marys and graduated a couple years ago. I still play for fun at least twice a week and wanted to continue my strength training because its important to me. I found Matt through a Google search, read his reviews and thought he was qualified. After meeting Matt I realized quickly that he is knowledgeable, experienced and professional. He was interested in knowing my goals, he went through the most detailed assessment that I have seen from a trainer and then he designed a customized program for me to address flexibility and postural issues. My core strength has never been stronger, I have no aches or pains other than when we have a tough workout and I truly enjoy my three days a week training at Krave Fitness. If youre considering hiring a personal trainer I highly recommend calling Matt first and you wont be disappointed by your results!
