Its too bad many people leave reviews only when they have a negative experience. I suspect that some reviews left here may be a result of them not being happy that the work on their car was going to be expensive. Auto repairs can be very expensive, depends on whats wrong with your car. My wife & I drove our 1999 Pontiac Montana to Tahoe after just having put $4000 worth of work into it since January 2013 (its currently March 2013). We kind of wanted to "test" it out. The very same coolant part we had replaced (a lower heater t-junction in the coolant system of hoses) only 2 weeks prior blew out going over the Donner pass. We coasted back down the opposite direction in neutral and found Donner Park Auto Repair. They closed at 5pm so we stayed at the Truckee Donner lodge next door for the night. The next day Jeff had our problem fixed (enough) for us to drive the car home. It still had other issues that may have caused the coolant system to fail, but at least we got home safely with our 4 yr. old & 2 month old. The price was relatively cheap compared to the recent work. I would recommend them - they were friendly and very attentive.

My family and I were on our way to vacation in the Sierras when our vehicle overheated heading over the pass. Fearing it was something really bad, we had the truck and trailer towed to Donner Park Auto. I was told they would get to as soon as they could. Since this was our only means of transportation and we had our dog with us, it left us with few options to stay for the night. We hung around for awhile discussing our options when they took our vehicle in the shop. Hopeful, we waited for the results.....After about 15 minutes the technician came to us and said it was only the overflow and there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. He sent the other technician in the vehicle up the hill and back just make sure. We were so relieved and when I asked what we owed him, he said since he wasnt out anything we didnt owe him anything. I am so thankful for these men and this shop that day.

I want to give the highest of marks because of a service rendered for free. My car broke down before this exit a little over a month ago. I got it to this station and the attendant, I forget his name, mentioned he knew a fair amount about cars and because it was slow, offered to help by looking at my engine. The transmission fluid level was exceedingly low so I bought a couple quarts and the gentleman poured it back in through the dipstick hole. Told me to drive down the highway, exit and come back as a test run. Unfortunately the transmission itself was the much larger disaster, however I just wanted to note how nice the guy was. Thanks.

About 2 years ago I used their services to have smog done on my vehicle. It did not pass which is not their fault in any way. I was told I would receive a free 2nd smog after I had made the necessary repairs and was ready. Well, when the time came to resmog, their machine was broken and I was told it would be months if ever working again. Therefore, I had no choice but to spend an additional $70 approx to smog elsewhere in town. No thanks.

I have used these guys a few times. Some repairs have been expensive and some reasonable, but they get the job done. I have not found them to be dishonest, although it is always best to question and verify cost of parts & service to be done, then check everything after the work is completed. Expect delays if it is snowing since they are on I-80 in an area where people usually chain up. Selling and installing chains is very lucrative.

Crooks. This shope tried to charge me hundreds more than what was reasonable for the job and they lied about their ability to provide guarantees that other shops couldnt. When I finally found another shop open in Truckee on Saturday (the Auto Doctor!) I was quoted a price $200 cheaper and was given the same nationwide guarantees on parts and labors. These guys are rude crooks, take your business elsewhere.

These guys are as professional a scam as you can get. I broke down on the side of the road and the part they charged me for was $100 more than NAPA quoted me the same day, also charged me for "diagnostics" when I told them what was wrong and an additional two hours over the book time on the repair. If you break down dont go here!!!!

Do not go here, ever!!!!! They fraudulently diagnosed our car as needing a $4700 repair, which was done successfully for a completely different problem at our local shop for $1200. And after almost 3 months, still will not refund us the $2398 deposit for work that was never done. Really?!?!?
