Sadly I have to write this review of Horan. Their sign says something to the effect of Affordable, Caring and Professional. I have issue with all three of those. First, affordable. Turns out Monarch Society charged 1,400 for same services that Horan charged us 3,600 for. Yep, you read that right! We used the Monarch Society when my sister passed away and had as good of an experience as possible, not so much at Horan. Now caring and professional. Their office staff, particularly a girl whos name starts with a W., awful! We had the simplest arrangements. Place a letter inside the casket, cremate my mother, and return the ashes with a scatter box. Simple. Guess what, they could not even get that right!!?? I was late in getting the letter. We called and said we would bring it to the Aurora office so they could place in her casket. They INSISTED we bring it to the Colorado location. My husband dropped it off and again said we could bring it over, it was very important. They assured us it would be taken to my mother in time for the cremation. Guess what, Horan did NOT do this. Their office staff messed it up!!!! In a poor attempt to make it right hey called and said they could place it in the scatter box. As if that was the same. As if they could take it back. They had one change to get it right and the messed it up. They were, and are, completely indifferent at their mistake. When the girl W. handed me the letter I told her how upset I was. She mumbled "sorry you feel that way" as she TURNED her back to me. The worst possible response. She did not care in the slightest. I cant cremate my mother again. My sister felt as though we deserved a discount because they messed up something so easy. When they called back they said they would not do that because they felt I was in the wrong and people had witnessed this exchange. Which is funny because no one was there! Yep, I was not happy. But they should not be in the business if they cannot handle emotions. With that said, there was nothing to witness. I think I just looked at her back and said "are you kidding me?" and walked off. In the end Horan was not even accountable for their mistake, or cared, just tried to cover it when talking to my sister. Oh yeah, and to top it off. They will tell you about how their high survey ratings. DON"T BELIEVE THEM!!! Knowing how unhappy I am, they never sent me a survey to fill out! Go to the Monarch Society, Horan takes advantage of people at their lowest moments, over charge, do not follow through on requests (and dont care) and ensure good surveys by sending to only those who will give a good rating!

I have to say this place is amazing. We lost our son on 7/9/16. We called them that day and we where taken care of the next day. We had been in denver for almost a week and our funds where depleting fast. We explained our situation to them and the first thing they say is dont worry about it. They will cover it for us. They only asked that we donate to their grief help center what we can. The loss of our son is the hardest thing we will ever go through, and they took away what pain they could.

Each detail of the process was handled efficiently, smoothly and with great professionalism. We had no worries as we knew we were in wonderful hands at a most difficult of times. By choosing a family-owned mortuary, I am convinced that we got something extra...people who truly CARED ABOUT OUR FAMILY.
