I needed a repair of the water heater that was installed by Ben Franklin in my home several years ago. The plumber diagnosed the problem as a faulty thermostat(s). He required my credit card before he could start work. I have been a loyal customer for many years. Both of my credit cards were declined. The plumber would not start the repair without an approved credit card. I have never failed to pay them in the past. Then the plumber refused to leave until I paid him for making the trip to my home. Finally, I applied for a credit line and was approved. I then received a call from the high pressure salesman, "we could replace the parts for $600 but you really ought to replace the water heater FOR ONLY AN ADDITIONAL $700. I told the sales manager where he could shove his new water heater. I promised never to do business with the company again. I said, "FIX THE PARTS AND GO TO HELL". The plumber repaired my water heater. When he was waiting on my doorstep for an approved payment, I had a good mind to call the police and have the plumber removed from my home for trespassing. DO NOT BUY THE SERVICE CONTRACT! They will come every year and bug you for purchasing a full bathroom remodel. They are pests! And the prices are high.

Im writing this review on behalf of my mother, who contacted Benjamin Plumber in May for an emergency weekend service. I believe that this company preys on people who dont know much about plumbing and are desperate for a solution to their plumbing problem. We dont contest the $189 charge for the Saturday emergency service, but we were shocked by the $800 bill considering that Steve, the plumber, spent an hour at my mothers house and replaced some very basic, very inexpensive parts. One of the toilets that he looked at is still not working well. When we contacted the owner of the company, he immediately took $200 off the bill; but, had my mother, who is 91, not had an advocate, she never would have received that reimbursement. Despite the refund, we still feel that our experience with this company warrants an honest review.

The Plumbers who came to our home were very nice and professional, which was a nice surprise. What wasnt a nice surprise was finding out it would cost me $353 to replace a kitchen faucet! I asked an approximate price when scheduling the appointment and was told I had to pay $59 to get someone to my house for an estimate...What was funny is that they didnt even need to see the job, they just open a book and there was the price for the faucet replacement. WHY doesnt the person answering the phone have that book and provide an approximate price? I could not see spending that kind of money for such a simple job and I sent them away (they shamelessly took my $59!). I did it myself in less than 20 mins!

BFP was called to repair the main water into our last August and they came within hours and repaired the break. We purchased a contact to cover the houses plumbing including the hot water heater. When the first service came due, we learned that the heater was on its way out, it is about 15 years old and never serviced. The repairs were grantees up to $500 but didnt include replacement. However that amount would be attributed toward a new unit. All in all, it took about a half a day to totally replace the unit with a new one plus new valves and drip tray. The service was excellent and professional and we are very pleased with the whole experience! Well call them again as the needs arise.

I would love to say that Ben Franklin Plumbing Company is the best. The office staff of Sara Andy and Joe always take good care of me and make sure my appointments are the exact time and day. Brian the service tech is great, always on time and will call me if he is running late. The work is number one neat clean and never a problem. I highly recommend everyone to call them for all there plumbing needs. I have told my family, friends and neighbors to call them. We first contacted Ben Franklin when we had to replace all the plumbing in a condo. We did not go with the least expensive quote, and are very glad to have chosen Ben Franklin of Andover for the job. Their staff was conscientious, and did an excellent job. They arrived on time, were courteous, and cleaned up before they left each day. We had several conversations with the owner, who gladly returns calls in a timely manner and sees to it that all questions are answered.

Excellent service! Had a water leak in our busy dental office and they came within hours of calling them. Brian diagnosed the problem and said he would have to drain the system to repair. He was able to stop the leak so the rest of the office could still function. Then he came in at 7am the next day and had the repair completed and office functioning before our first patients at 8am! I would highly recommend Ben Franklin to anyone!

Excellent service! Had a weekend emergency which necessitated shutting off the water to our house on Saturday night. The technician was at our home first thing Sunday! Leak was repaired quickly and efficiently. Since then, weve called them in for additional upgrades (well tank & filter) - great work! BUT i with their "protection plan" makes it alot more manageable and you get some excellant perks like 24/7 help free and 15% off repair costs.

Baywood Kennels

Showed up 2 hours late and horribly overpriced. Wanted $900 just to snake a small drain for a sink, called Roto-Rooter and they did the job perfectly for much less than half that price. Ive heard from multiple people whove had the same experience with ridiculous pricing. Shop around.
