I cancelled my membership through WOW gym in March. I sent a certified letter like I was told and also kept a copy of the certified letter and a copy of the certified signed receipt certification from the post office. They are still charging me!!!! When I called this morning to find out why I was still being charged for a personal trainer I was told its a separate cancellation even though thats not what I was originally told. I specifically asked if my personal trainer would also be cancelled along with my membership once they received the certified letter i was told it would be, now Im being told different. The girl who answered the phone didnt seem to know much, I asked her for the number of TNT corporation so I could call and resolve the issue she put me on hold several times. She finally gave me a number but it of course wasnt for the corporation. I would definitely not recommended WOW gym. Its dirty and the machines are old. As for the personal trainers its like a revolving door. They are constantly changing trainers. One of the main reasons why I left.

Terrible customer service, overall. I dont know where they find these people, but they lack any type of people skills, what-so-ever. So many issues with billing - dont even try to change your credit/debit card number. Guaranteed you get hit with a late payment fee, this happened to me twice. So crowded and smells like dirty socks, not to mention the steam covered windows. The equipment is not up to date - and dirty. You better clean the machine yourself because you may end up with a disease if you dont. Avoid this place at all costs. The gym is dirty, the customer service is the WORST I have ever experienced, in any place, not just gyms. They do not want to help you at all - so much that you can easily just walk right by the front desk an no one will say anything to you. Take advantage of your free gym membership while they have this staff working there, but do not pay to go to this gym. Not worth it at all. If I could get out of my one year contract, I would.

The gym facilities are unrecommendable. Also, when I tried to cancel, the staff gave me a multi-month runaround and continued to bill me even after I (1) sent in a letter (which they acknowledged receiving) and (2) came into the gym to cancel in person. They refused to cancel my membership in person and insisted I "send in another letter that was certified"--even though the letter should be addressed to the very person with whom I was speaking in person! The worst part about it, is that when I originally called in by phone to ask about how to cancel the gym employee failed to tell me the ridiculous loops through which I would have to jump in order to cancel. So, WOW ensures that cancellation is a multi month process. Sign up at your own risk! (Really, Im a temperate person and this is the FIRST bad review I have ever written about any company. This company has abusive consumer policies)

Gym is just OK. I went into Remission with my MS and can barely walk. But yet they are giving me the run around and it takes months to cancel? Even after i have submitted the certified letter and payed all of my dues. Anyone who signs up for this "non-gym" and reads the reviews is retarded. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!!! ----UPDATE--------- Now after finally having been able to cancel I am hit with another fee of 41 dollars because my cancellation didnt go through in time for this annual membership fee. This is the biggest bunch of scam bullshit ever! I hope this company goes under or a roided out meathead offs someone in management.

A lot of people complain about how hard it is to cancel a membership at WOW. You are locked in for a year at $10 a month, so if you try to cancel before that youll have difficulty. Its in the contract, thats how they manage to keep prices down. I was a member for almost two years and moved. I called them and they said to mail a letter with my address and a statement saying I wanted to cancel. They tell you it takes 30 days, so you will have to pay for the next month, but it was successfully canceled after that. For the price, it was definitely worth it, but make sure you want to go for a year.

Disgusting place, horrible trying to park there, too small a space, not enough machines for the number of people, no ventilation so it ALWAYS smells horrible. Scam artists run the place, and have damaged my credit because of their fraudulent billing practices. So after a year having passed, I called to cancel. Nope, sorry they cant do that. I stopped in to cancel. Nope sorry, cant do that. I have to manually write a letter, and send it certified via snail mail? Seriously, thats what they told me. SCAM ARTISTS!!! STAY AWAY! Dont fall for their crap like I did.

This is without a doubt the worst gym in Connecticut. The owner, Lou, screams at his employees in front of members and treats the members very poorly. They do not care about their members and will not cancel your membership when you want to. Their personal training department is one of the worst Ive ever seen. The trainers just bring clients from machine to machine with no type of programming at all. This owner does not deserve to own a business at all. Stay away from this gym if you are smart. Go the The Edge in Meriden. Its so much better.

Honestly if i could cancelknow i would but there early cancellation fee is outrageously high and they try to find every way to stop you. Even though most of the people are nice this gym sucks. The trainer program is over priced and they dont really care about you training they just want your money. The wont do anything to work with you. Also the facility itself looks old and worn out. Over all i do not recommend it to anyone I pay $170 a month between gym membership and a trainer and i defiantly dont get any form of good service.

Undesirable types go here. Broken equipment stays that way for long periods of time. Gets loud. Some members converse with one another by screaming at each other from opposite ends of the gym (usually in a foreign language). Staff is jaded. Its obvious they are only there for a lousy paycheck. Equipment is pretty cramped together. Only 1 true squat rack. Morons and muscle heads always workout right up against the dumbbell rack. Its a mostly carpeted gym. Smells. Nobody cares. Seems as if the owner doesnt care.

No customer service, sullen employees not being supervised. Example, asked if I could leave my glasses somewhere, got a sullen "over here" "pick them up before we close". Rare greetings when coming and going. Yuck. Gabfest among themselves. Ridiculously difficult to cancel. All yucks and nothing but schmucks. Never saw the smiley faces that are on TV ads.
