I joined a similar style gym when I was younger; the impossible to cancel membership kind. I moved, it was impossible to cancel my membership, then they billed me one more time to cancel! I hadnt used their gym in almost a year. The gym was okay, I only joined this style because my bestfriend, girlfriend, and sister were members. I would recommend paying more the for Y in Westport. The Y doesnt have annoying body builder staff, and the atmosphere is way friendlier. Y has a pool, plus using the showers doesnt have some voodoo attached to it. Gym sucked, would not recommend to myself ever again in my lifetime, canceling my Y membership was ridiculously easy that I assumed everywhere was like the Y. The reviews that give this gym 4, or 5 stars. Are probably from staff, and the owner. I only gave it two because after I emailed the owner, after having emailed ABC to cancel at least 6 times, he checked on my status, promptly.

Pretty solid corporate gym. As a weightlifter, the things I would complain about are that there are not enough power racks. And the knurling on everything is incredibly rough. If you lift, come with gloves. Also, the oly bars are of very low quality, very little spin and whip. You are not going to find eleiko or rogue quality bars. They do have bumper plates, but it really isnt the place to do oly lifting. Other than that, the cardio machines are high quality, although they still have the old iphone-4 connection jacks. The rest of the free-weights are good, dumbbells go up to 125. They have a lot of turf area, and a prowler which is nice. No really good pullup bars to do kips or muscle ups on, no gymnastic rings. They have kettlebells and some plyo boxes and a couple of light tires too. Can get a great workout. Cant comment on the staff because I dont talk to anyone when lifting. Good for the price.

I have been a member of the Edge for at least 10 years , always at the Norwalk location. It has always been clean and the staff welcoming. Over the years I have worked with a few trainers, currently two - one in general fitness and one in pilates. I highly recommend th both. Doran Lewis is my general trainer. He is extremely knowledgeable, bringing me along slowly ( I am susceptible to injury) but steadily, and pays exceptional attention to form to best leverage the exercises. His combination of military training and physical therapy education, combined with warmth make him highly effective and enjoyable trainer. Caroline Benton is the pilates trainer. She is a long time "true pilates" certified instructor, and has made an incredible difference in my core strength, posture and mechanics even through illness and surgery.

This is hands down the worst gym Ive ever been a member of. The majority of the staff is very unfriendly, not even greeting you at the door unless your payment is overdue (they waited 7 days to greet me so they could let me know I owed them 20 extra dollars due to a banking error). They have an extremely deceptive membership agreement. I was told I could cancel my account at no cost should I move away, only to find out when I moved that I need to move more than 15 miles away from the nearest location. Why 15 miles? THIS WAS NEVER TOLD TO ME WHEN I SIGNED THE MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT. Additionally gym cleanliness is subpar at best. Try to find a piece of garbage on the floor (or just drop one) and see how many days it takes someone to pick it up!

ONLY GOOD IF YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY TOP DOLLAR FOR TRAINING-If you sign up to use their equipment, you better be ready to pay out for a trainer because if you ask any one of them a question and they are not getting paid to train you they give you an annoyed look like you have no right to ask anything if you dont pay! The place is crowded and to try to sign for additional "free" classes is impossible as the classes fill up almost before they are posted. Also forget their "Revolution Program". Again, they take your $100, make a big deal of it, send you emails however, again they just leave you hanging! No support.

If I could give it less stars I would. Just a money hungry business that doesnt care about customers. Trainers never greet you when you entered, and are super pushy. I had my wallet stolen from there in July and was pretty much told that sucks. I filed for cancellation afterwards and they still charged me for July, August, September, and October despite the fact I didnt go back at all and was very clear I was trying to cancel. Staff was unhelpful and rude. Absolutely disgusting, just looking to take your money. If you want a club thats kind and fair, this is the last place you should go. Absolutely hate it.

The crowds are insane, so I joined another gym. I wanted to cancel my membership with them and called in May and was told that it would expire after August 15th. I have since been charged an additional $60 and they wont refund money even though one of their staff told me that I would no longer be charged. You also have to send a CERTIFIED 30day cancellation notice to Arkansas in order to get out of this contract. If you do decide to join, make sure you read the fine print before you sign up, but just know that there are MUCH more competent gyms just down the road and for less money...

Well, today was my fourth day at The Edge in Norwalk without air-conditioning in the Zumba class. It was boiling in there so I opened the doors to let in some of the a/c from the rest of the building. Within 5 minutes a young women (possibly an employee) made it a point to look directly at me and close the doors. It is the first time in 4 years of Zumba classes in many locations that I have ever felt judged and unwelcome. I left and asked one of the desk managers to call me when the air-conditioning is fixed.

Stay away. I canceled my gym membership months ago and then I got a call from an angry man who said he represented the GYM in their legal claims and he barked at me for the $100 in unpaid gym fees I had. What the hell? I had a credit card on auto payment them and then had to fill out and send in all this paper work to cancel and then I get a call from collections warning me my credit is about to take a hit. Basically, any gym that doesnt have time to make their cancellation work simply should be avoided.

I love this gym! They have great facilities and a ton of classes. For $20 a month, I go to about 4 Zumba classes and 2 yoga classes per week (and there are far more offered), and I have the ability to go to any of the other locations (except Greenwich, which is more expensive because, well, its Greenwich...) I get more than my moneys worth out of this gym. The training, though, is expensive, and they lose a star for the high pressure sell that they give you after your "free" first training session.

I enjoyed the gym at first but... Now absolutely would not recommend it. They automatically enrolled me for a month to month membership after my 2 year membership ended (I no longer live in the area so would not benefit at all from this) AND because the month was December charged me a $45 yearly maintenance fee on top of my $20 membership when I already cancelled! I am paying a membership fee for a year I am not going to be there for. Really just ruined my experience with the gym.
