Totally unfair pricing -- its $69 for an electrician to come out but not do anything. I dont know how to turn my outside lights on -- the minimum to diagnose the reason (even if it was just a switch I couldnt find) was $250. They dont tell you about that when you set up the appointment. The electrician was a nice guy, but the pricing makes it a waste of time and money. To update the above rating (which was originally 1-star), the owner called me very concerned that I was unhappy with the service. He said he would make sure the people who answer calls provide full pricing information. I suggested that he review how he charges (in my case $69 for the electrician to come out, and $250 for any diagnostic work regardless of how much time spent). I suggested a flat $150 charge to visit and perform up to 30-60 minutes of diagnostics work would be much more appropriate. Good that he cares about his customer experience, I imagine the electricians do a good job. But make sure you know the pricing before hand.

My first call to Safe and Sound Electric was an emergency call. I came home one afternoon to find my meter box sparking and smoking. When the fire department and CL&P responded they disconnected the power to the house. John came out immediately to see what needed to be replaced even though a blizzard was quickly approaching. The next morning, he and Paul were at the house bright and early and not only repaired what was damaged, but upgraded and improved the service and panel. John took the time to answer my questions and showed me what was being done and why. By the end of the day, all of the work was complete and the house had no sign of damage or of the repairs that had just been done; no debris, mess or dust anywhere. I have referred Safe and Sound Electric to friends and colleagues and will do it again.

John is a very friendly, polite, professional businessman. He gave me estimates for electrical work on my new home and installed a dimmer switch on the spot when I mentioned I would like to have one. He made the trek to my house in Stratford, CT, which is far away from his office, and met me at a time that was convenient for me. His work was excellent and his knowledge of his field and the way he explained my electrical needs to me was very helpful. Safe and Sound Electric is a wonderful company to work with. They provide exceptional service and are extremely thorough in everything they do. John installed a new wall socket and hung a rather heavy light fixture. He mapped out the best route to run the wires for the socket to minimize the the number of holes he would need to cut in the walls. John installed the socket and patched the single hole he created. The patch was not even noticeable, When installing the light fixture, he recommended a heavier brace in the ceiling just for precaution. I would highly recommend Safe And Sound Electric for any of your electrical needs

My problem was a hanging pendant fixture in which the bulb was flickering on and off when hot. This was a small issue. Safe and Sound was prompt to arrive - unlike most electricians. They charged me $69.00 just to walk in the door - but I knew that beforehand. However, I was told that it would cost me $280.00 simply to diagnose the problem. Just for a diagnosis. Then Id be informed of the cost to repair. This was completely out of line and I did not go further. Ill replace the fixture and save money. Too expensive to start - with an unknown factor built in. Last time I call this outfit.

Safe and Sound was not only professionally competent, but ethical and trustworthy as well. John came to our house on a Sunday to repair severe damage suffered in a storm the night before. He and a partner worked all the next day until full power was restored. More importantly, he followed up promptly to resolve a glitch after the power was up and running again, and took full responsibility for the quality and results of his work. That is a standout quality among contractors in any field and at any price, in my book. I recommend him and the Safe and Sound network highly.

I had an emergency last month. I sold my house. The day of the closing I’m told there’s an open electrical permit on file at town hall that had to be closed. The original electrician was retired, but I knew of Safe and Sound Electric through mutual friends. Getting an electrician on short notice is hard enough – getting one for same day service to close another electrician’s permit – I thought I’d never have a closing. John said he would handle the problem with the town inspector, and he did. Safe and Sound saved my closing and I can’t thank them enough. Frank W

He spent time assessing each of my problems and then gave me an estimate before doing any work. April 4, 2,014 I was interested in upgrading my laundry system, and needed to have a dryer outlet installed in my unit. I used the internet to search for electrical contractors. John A. came the next day per my request. He provided a written estimate for the work, and and took the appl. for an electrical permit then. Once the appl. was approved by the town, the work was scheduled. I am very satisfied, and pleased with the quality of the work John performed. I would use Safe and Sound Electric again, and would recommend the company to a friend.
