Oh, boy. Brace yourselves. In case this review is tl;dr: Stay away. We contacted Capitol for our corporate move from the South Windsor area across country. From the initial presentation and estimate I was very impressed. The customer service prior to the move was fantastic and seemed so organized, I was sure we had picked the absolute best movers to entrust our household to. This was a corporate move, so I was so relieved we could have full pack done, and I really believed our things were in good hands. They could even move our brand new Kloter Farm playscape, which we were worried would have to stay behind in Connecticut. The day of the move, I was busy chasing my toddler, but the movers seemed competent and very friendly. We bought them breakfast and lunch and chit chatted, I thought they were lovely. Fast forward a month later to our things arriving. The moving company (United Affiliate in our current state) said it was the worst packing they had ever seen, and that they were embarrassed to be associated with Capitol. How bad was it? Our washer machine was smashed. Our brand new Kloter Farms play scape? Ruined. Our backyard ceramic chiminea didnt show up, so we assume they smashed, dumped it, and hoped we wouldnt remember we ever had one. An area rug had a hole. Several pieces of furniture were chipped. My toddlers train table was smashed. Two Adirondack chairs were broken, I could go on and on and on. The amount of damage was absolutely shocking. The boxes were not properly filled with paper and they were also not loaded properly into the van, so most arrived smashed. Things were packed in the most haphazard way possible. Clothing was not even hung properly in the wardrobe boxes, most of the clothing was at the bottom on the box...but still on hangers. They just couldnt be bothered. All of my childrens toys had been carefully packed and organized into bins prior to moving day. The movers dumped the boys from the bins into big boxes, and packed the bins separated. Why? I cant wrap my brain around it, but maybe thats because I still havent mentally recovered from separating of 10,00 peices of Legos, Knex, My Little Ponys, toy cars, and doll house parts all mixed together. With kitchen towels. Because, obviously you pack the kitchen towels with the Legos. At first I believed this was pure negligence, or possibly purposeful. But the packing job was so strange, I truly wonder if the packing crew was under the influence of substances. Im not saying that to be funny. A toddler training toilet seat was packed inside a board game. What the what? A single pair of dirty underwear was inside a roasting pan (I do not normally keep dirty laundry in the oven), my daughter had a brand new tea set in a box. The tea set was dumped into another box, and the tea set box was filled with matchbox cars. Our pots and pans were full of sand. From where? Dont ask me! But the piece de resistance of crazy for me was when I found that they had taken apart an unused pinata and filled it with hand towels and toys. I have moved many times and have never had experience like this. The stressful experience of moving across country was made even more difficult. I would not recommend their services to anyone.

relocation. I decided to pay out of pocket for their storage option after being quoted a monthly price following several phone calls with their representative. Now, several months later, Ive been informed that the actual price for storage was about $150 more per month than what I was told was a firm price. They arent willing to budge on this, and they have all of my furniture in their storage facility. I dont know what to do, honestly. Ive never been in a situation with any company like this before. My advice - go with someone else. Im going to end up paying over $1000 that I didnt expect to spend, because I trusted this company and their representatives. I spoke to them, they blamed me for the mistake and when I asked to file a formal complaint with a supervisor, they stopped returning my emails. Seriously - one of the worst experiences I have had with a business. Ever. Update: The only way I was able to get any sort of response from this company was by posting reviews on Yelp and google. I spoke to the person who reached out to me. She was polite and listened to my concerns, then said that the president of the company would be in touch. Surprise - never happened. Poorly run organization. Period. Weve lost our $1000, and theres no way to get it back. I am updating my review based on the response of the organization - I was told that I would be contacted by the president of the company. I received NO FURTHER correspondence from the organization - except, of course, in response to this review, falsely stating that I had been contacted by someone who never established communication. Simply observe the way that this company treats a consumer who was given false information by one of their representatives. Stay far, far away.

We couldnt be happier with our move from CT to Florida using Capitol Moving & Storage. They confuse us with United and Mayflower affiliations.....but we had a huge Mayflower truck move our 4 bedroom furnishings. The moving staff in CT that did the actual move were super and we even had the same 3 people in Florida (minus one from CT.....where they used 4 people). They crammed everything into that huge van and even picked up other peoples things which we thought would delay the arrival of our things.....but they came right on the date we wanted......driving to Florida in 2 days only. Thats scary to me that they were that fast.....but the team arrived as pleasant to work with as when they were with us in CT......actually running and smiling and kidding around with each other while they worked. They were amazing. And so far we havent seen a thing broken.....though we did pack things well ourselves. And they gave us plenty of free boxes in So. Windsor and their packing paper was great too. So overall a good estimate was given and the experience was right on the money. We even got a few hundred bucks back since they must have over-estimated a little. So good job!

They were contracted by the navy to ship and store our stuff. I requested delivery and the night before delivery at 5:13pm I got an email from Paige Carlson saying I need to pay 1073.52 tomorrow because the government wont pay it. I have an email from here from an earlier date telling me the government will pay it. Not sure what to do but it looks like I wont get my stuff tomorrow.
