Some pros: Even though its packed theres always enough machines available to get your workout in. Ive been going here roughly a month and dont think Ive had to wait for a machine yet. They have everything you could possibly need to satisfy your workout requirements. Friendly staff. Helpful. Some cons: As far as what really irks me, and I understand these arent necessarily all the staffs fault, but they dont do anything to stop it. Its practically accepted as a way of life at this gym, but to me its unacceptable. Ive been going here roughly a month, and I dont know if its the same in the girls lockeroom, but in the guys lockeroom, there has not been a single day I have entered without seeing a completely naked man, and I mean completely naked. Granted most gyms have a stray guy here or there, but literally EVERY time I go there, I see at a minimum, 2 completely naked men. Its usually closer to 4-5. Fat gross hairy men walking around letting it all hang. Have a little decency and respect to your fellow gym-goers. I think I speak for everyone when I say no one wants to see that. Had one bump into me one time. I almost turned around and assaulted him. It would be nice to see the staff put some sort of rules in play like keep it in the stalls, or showers, not just out in the open. Yesterday I saw a completely naked man standing in front of the big mirror rubbing shaving cream on himself getting prepared to shave in the sink. There was another guy a few feet from him in the mirror "admiring" himself. This should be intolerable. They should have their membership terminated if this type of activity is reported. Aside from that my only other complaint is the vast amount of elderly people who just loiter in the pool during peak hours taking up all of the lanes not working out whatsoever. They just sit there talking, not swimming, hogging a lane when theres only 4 to begin with. Save that activity for the retirement home people. This is a gym, not a spot to have a social gathering. If someone was sitting on a machine for over an hour, literally not working out, just sitting there talking for over an hour, Im sure staff would ask them to get off the machine to make room for someone who is obviously standing there waiting. Therefore, if the same activity is observed in the pool, they should be asked to leave the pool. I understand the staffs predicament in wanted to give EVERYONE a fair chance to make use of the facility, but when the facility is clearly being used in the wrong way, something should be done, rather than just let it happen. There really needs to be some ground rules put in play. I almost forgot all of the trouble making teens that occupy the basketball court to full capacity on a daily basis like its the rec. Then go be loud and obnoxious in the lockeroom afterwords. I feel like Im gonna get in a fight with these kids on a daily basis. (Not necessarily the staffs fault, but you let these people in in the first place.)

I love L.A. Fitness, one of the best place that I kept going back to but this time they were just all over the place. I specifically ask for membership that would stop after the summer because i will be moving back to place that doesnt have an l.a. fitness so no point of keeping the membershit, i leave after the summer and i see another charge one my account from them, then i called and they explained that I need to mail a cancelation form to get a refund, they said they didnt receive anything so I waited, and i got charged again after another month, when I called to check on what happened he said specifically said " you didnt mail it and we didnt receive it, i dont know if you didnt mail it, and our policy is clear about the cancellation and we dont give refunds, if pay for direct tv and you cancel they wont pay you back, but i can cancel it over the phone for you and give until october for free" , isnt that just silly. just because youre one the other side of the phone that doesnt give you the right to be an rude, if i was talking to in the most respectful way, i wish they record their calls. since when they hire people that have that stupid attitude. and since you can cancel it over the phone why didnt you do it the first time i called and asked why did I get charged after leaving. Btw after looking closely at the receipts there was a charge for racquetball, and i dont know what that is, I had to google it to know it. all what I needed what the gym and I was specific about that. awefull awefull customer service I am really disappointed, I really used to like that place, i feel bad that theyre give the place a bad reputation

I was upset to see so many negative comments. I've been a member of this gym for a few years and absolutely love it!
I typically go around 8-10 pm.
Of course it will be busy at 5:30pm, most gyms are, everyone is getting home from work, so people really can't complain about that. And during busy times MOST people will adhere to the 20 minute time limit on machines during peak hours.
It can get a tad warm in there, but nothing drastic, I mean... You do have a bunch of people working out nearby, so body heat will be up.
The staff has always been more than friendly and personable to me, and I'm sorry that other people have experienced otherwise.
The machines are great, the facilities are clean, and the classes are awesome.
My only complaint is the hours. Of course I wish this gym was 24 hours, but alas, it is not. If they stayed open a little later on weekends, and opened a little earlier, that would be phenomenal. :]
And I will admit that I do not always receive a goodbye, so I usually say it first, and then they respond back pleasantly.
Im not saying we should all have to say goodbye first, but Im sure they get sick of saying that for 8+ hours to seemingly disgruntled members and visitors.
Other than that, love this gym and really believe you get what you pay for here.

This is the BEST game in town, by far. Im an independent personal trainer and will give you the straight scoop. Yes, the staff are sales and company oriented, and theres quotas and such or theyd go out of business. But theyre not pushy, not as bad as elsewhere, and at least theyre not 18 yr old mental OMG robots. The price is much better than the Y, or Court House, with everything you could want. Compare to the fast-food-like $10/month places like Cardio Express and Planet Fitness, that are super crowded, carry almost no free weights anymore and dont even have a squat rack-impossible. Oh, and the cheapie places just mentioned WILL whack you with startup fees and yearly charges, which is a scam and totally changes their actual costs when you compare. Spend a little more and join a club thatll make you want to go there and work out. I still have a membership to one of those and only go there once in a while in a pinch or to shower when the power goes out. This place has THE best equipment, lots of it, and is a high quality place with a great atmosphere. Is it more crowded at rush hour? Of course-what isnt? Ive been working out at gyms for 40 years and LA Fitness is a great place. This is an non-endorsed and unsolicited review-I have no relationship with the gym except very glad theyre there. Good luck...
