As a recent UD alum, I have attended Ambitions multiple times in the past. My experiences there have ranged from horrible to okay but nothing has ever been great. But due to lack of a car, I had resulted numerous times to going there. However, most recently my experience was absolutely horrible. Most recently, (the week of May 23rd 2016) I went to Ambitions for an eyebrow and lip waxing. The individual who did the waxing was different than a previous salon worker. After waxing, my face becomes red in the places in which I am waxed, which is normal. However, this person asked if I wanted cover up/make up for it (which would have been horrible for my skin). When I got home however, I had two spots in my face where I was legitimately burned (almost second degree). I had graduation in a couple of days and was horrified. I could not place makeup over it for fear of infection. It hurt a lot and did not heal for almost a week. When I called the salon looking for the manager after explaining my situation, I was told by the person at the front desk that the manager would call me back at 5pm the same day I called. She did not. When I called back, I still was unable to speak to the manager because "she was too busy" and instead was told by the lady at the front desk that instead I would have to talk to the woman who did the waxing. This is completely unprofessional and inappropriate. As a manager, they should be responsible and communicate to the client to address the situation. I merely wanted a refund for the poor service I received and the pain I felt. If the woman who did my waxing was truly certified and trained- I should NOT have been burned to an almost second degree burn. On top of this I have received other poor services. When I came in for a pedicure and asked if I could add a manicure, I was told the woman who did manicures was not in. (NOTE- the woman who did my pedicure also happened to wax me a previous time) I was and am confused because if she was properly trained she should be able to do both a manicure and pedicure. My pedicure was of poor quality- no clean edges/paint on my actual toes instead of nails and clumpy. A previous "salon pedicure" I received was by a new worker who followed an older worker in doing the steps. She still missed some steps and thus I did not get what I paid for. Finally, the first time I went, I got a strip of my hair dyed permanently pink for breast cancer awareness. It washed out within three days. Overall, my experiences have gotten worse and worse at this salon with the manager acting unprofessionally and with a questionably trained staff. If I could give them half a star I would.

I arranged to have my bridal party get their hair done here, as my wedding was at the church on Main St and I wanted to stay local. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. They opened early for us on Saturday and kept to our timeline without a hitch! All the girls (5) looked great and each had a different style that she had selected. The trial run included with the bridal updo really helped me to relax on the day since I knew my stylist knew what I wanted and knew how to get it done. Their prices seemed to be the best in town, and I really couldnt have asked for more. I would highly recommend!

I made an appointment with Nicole to have her lighten my hair up for summer. I brought in a picture and asked her to put a few layers into my hair. She trimmed my hair but added no layers and somehow managed to dye my hair three different colors, none of which I asked for or looked like the picture, then she charged me $100. I will never be going back.

Ambitions salon had a great atmosphere and was very clean. The stylist was extremely friendly and did a great job on my hair. Their prices are also very reasonable. In my search to find an affordable salon, Ambitions offered the lowest charge for a hair cut. I will definitely return and recommend Ambitions Salon in Newark Delaware.
