BEWARE: unsafe locker room. Multiple incidents of theft have occurred! Whatever good and relaxation resulted from my deep tissue massage was quickly canceled out by the fact someone had gotten into my locker and *stolen* my wallet and iPhone. A fellow customer had a wallet and expensive watch taken from his locker and, before that guy could cancel his credit cards, the thief had already charged $1,000.00 at Best Buy. Worst of all, two employees mentioned it wasnt the first time such an incident had happened at this Mint. According to a detective investigating the case, it is easy to pry open the electronic lockers with ones bare hands, even if they are locked. Amazingly, the officer says employees even stopped the suspect for suspicious behavior, and escorted him off the premises when he did not have a valid explanation as to why he was at Mint, but he left with our possessions! There were multiple points where more diligent and thorough security could have prevented this crime, and better video surveillance could have helped identify the suspects face, but Mint failed in both respects. Security is far too lax for a downtown location! How can customers hope to enjoy their workout or massage, when their valuables get stolen? UPDATE: Weeks later, we still have not gotten any of our phone calls returned. Way to take care of your customers, Mint!

This is a perfectly fine gym. Its clean, has all the right equipment and weights, the staff was polite and pleasant, and it was uncrowded at the time I went. Here are the cons. 1. I went because one of the of the reviews said it has "a great sauna." In fact, there is no sauna. Its a little unfair to mark them down for this, since they have never claimed to have a sauna. However, my expectations were dashed because of the review. I guess the reviewer didnt know the difference between a sauna (which they dont have) and a steam room (which they do). 2. There is a steam room, but it wasnt working when I was there. Or perhaps it was turned off in the middle of the day when there werent many patrons. All I know is, they told me it was working, I went in and it wasnt, then got dressed, went out, talked to them again, they said they fixed it, and then I went back and sat in an 85-degree steam room until I got tired of waiting and left. 3. I like to do sit-ups on an incline bench. Their bench wasnt made for people my height (64") and my head was on the ground. It was unusable. If you dont care about a sauna, steam room or incline bench, give this place a five. It may be perfectly fine for you, and its certainly far nicer than places like Golds and Washington Sports Club.

So much potential, but such a letdown... If going during the after-work hours, its too crowded to ever use the stength equipment. There was two people sharing the single deadlift platform and there was already another person waiting to get in to use it before me. Little amount of space yet theres alwats large gym groups led by one of their trainers - making the small space even smaller (read: cramped). It makes the gym terrible for people with pre-determined routines as everyday whats available and what isnt changes. The locker room is pretty nice - but definately some misses. The liquid used to sanitize their combs isnt changed often and you can see debris from peoples hairs rolling around in the sanitizer when taking one of the combs out (ew?).. This gym was meant to feel nicer than most, which it does (the actual locker room and showers are nice!), but high overcrowding during peak hours, low strength equipment availability, and a few cost cut corners make it a miss (another ex. type of free weights used). Ive been here for the last two summers though I think theyll be my last.

MINT Downtown is an amazing gym with a fantastic location in the heart of DC. What I love most about it is the friendly community, the variety of classes, and the cleanliness of this gym. Since I moved to DC, I wanted to get plugged into a community, and MINT is exactly where I could do that. All gym members are so friendly that it makes the city feel much smaller, more neighborhood-like. I also really appreciate the cleanliness and the respect that people have for the equipment there. The staff is super responsive and friendly as well. Cannot say enough about this gym. I spend most of my time there outside of work, and truly enjoy every minute.

I walked past MINT on my way to work every day for almost a year before finally venturing inside, and it was the best decision Ive made since moving to DC! Not only does it offer incredible classes with well-trained, friendly instructors, but the facilities offer everything you could need or want from a gym. The location and fully-stocked locker rooms make it easy to go to a class before, after, or even during work (they classes between 12-2pm regularly!). They also host happy hours, fun runs, and other community-oriented events which has contributed to my feeling of belonging. Try the five day free trial - youll be hooked!

The downtown location for MINT is wonderful. I often will go right before work and will do a barre or MINTensity (cardio circuit) class, or right after for a round of Power Playground (think bootcamp with weights!). The instructors are super friendly, but more important knowledgable. Theyll push in the best ways. Regarding non-class aspects of the gym: the machines are great. Rarely lines to use them. The locker room is incredible. I actually enjoy getting ready there in the morning before work. Clean, spacious, locks built into the lockers -- really all youd want.

I have recently joined this gym and go to this location during the week after work. I really enjoy how polite and friendly the staff has been! There is plenty of equipment with a wide variety to accomodate most types of workouts. At this location, there is also a spin studio and a room for classes. During the time that I attend the gym, late evenings, it is never crowded, which is also great! I would highly recommend this gym for anyone in the DC metro area that needs a great gym! There is also an in-house physical therapist and spa, which is a convenient addition!

I look forward to going to the gym here. Equipment is always available and even during peak hours I never have to wait for a machine. Ive fallen in love with the classes. The selection is wide enough that I can just show up and see what is available and get a good workout. Barre an Pilates are must sees! They think of everything so all I need to bring is workout clothes - they provide towel service, toiletries, and an immaculate facility. More of a spa-like relaxing experience that a gym. Try the sauna and take a shower after the water pressure is amazing.

Working out is easier when its convenient, which is why MINT Downtown works for me. I live in Adams Morgan (near MINTs Dupont location), and work on K Street, so between work and home Im only four blocks from both. And while the convenience is what got me to sign up as a member, the great community and even better classes are what keep me coming back consistently. Ive belonged to a lot of gyms around DC, and MINT is - by far - the best.

While I have never utilized their gym before, I used their spa services for the first time this week and I will definitely be returning. I took advantage of a their 50 minute signature facial and was incredibly impressed. The facilities were clean, relaxing, and tranquil and all the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. Ask for Britney! She is relatively new and simply fabulous! Best facial Ive ever had!
