I hate taking my car to the mechanic, but this is definitely a hidden gem. Ill never go anywhere else in DC for work on my car (Mazda 3). There was a long list of little things wrong with my car. I went in on a Saturday afternoon with no appointment expecting to get my car back on Tuesday-ish. Ahmad was at my door looking at the car and asking how he could help before I had even stepped out. I had my own parts for some of the repairs, and he didnt even blink where many mechanics would refuse to use them. The car was up on a lift within 5 minutes (no joke) to look at the brakes. I dont know much about cars, so Ahmad explained everything and let me feel the grooves in the front rotors (yikes!). He also found some cheap workarounds to fix loose pieces of the car without replacing then. When I asked how long it would be, he hesitated and said "well, I have to wait for some of your parts to come in... It should be ready by 5:00." That was only 3 hours away. Ive had tire changes take longer! They did great work for a great price in incredible time. Genuinely impressive.

I went there first with a problem passing inspection. Mohammed had to re-do the work from another mechanic, and only charged me 1 hour for a 3 hour job because I had already paid the other shop. He just felt bad for me. Since then, i have returned whenever I had a problem. He replaced an A/C compressor for $300 - he found a used compressor for $100, and only charged $200 to install the compressor, evacuate, charge and test it. While I was there, I watched him replace an ignition key that he had previously installed at no charge. While he was working on that car, he also tightened the alternator belt and strapped down the battery that was loose in the car -also at NO CHARGE! He does things right, and is totally honest. I have recommended New Concept to several friends and aquaintances and they all came back to thank me for the recommendation, raving about the great service, honesty, and savings that they experienced. NEW CONCEPT is the BEST OF DC auto repair. For real.

I work for a local non-profit, and we are continually amazed at the work done by Rahim, Mo, and everyone else at New Concept. For example, we had a large, tinted van window from a 12 passenger van broken. They repaired it within 4 hours and charged less than any other place we called (SafeLite, etc). Another example was when our van died at the office. Rahim drove out immediately and personally took the van back to their repair shop to fix it the same day. Every time I drive up, I am warmly greeted and granted immediate service. Im not knowledgeable about cars, and it would be easy to take advantage. Instead, they take the time to explain each repair they make and have try to find alternative solutions to save money (non-profits arent known for their wealth!) One tip - come first thing in the morning if possible (around 8:30am) before they are crazy busy!

Muhammad is the sincere and honest mechanic you always hope to find but never do find. I was surprised when he did not want to drive my 2012 Mustang to check for steering vibration and told me that any mechanic that wants to drive my car just does so for fun. I instantly knew this man was dedicated to his craft and our friendship has grown since. I go every weekend to work on small projects for the car and he doesnt mind me using his space and tools. He is a unique person and has taught me some valuable life lessons too. There sure arent many like him and I wish him all the success because of his sincerity which is hard to come by these days.

Ive been several times and never had a bad experience. Mohammed is extremely fair. If there is nothing wrong with your car, he will say that and not suggest a million things for you to get fixed instead. The prices for actual services are the best prices Ive experienced. I would definitely recommend the shop and will continue to go back.

Great service. Much faster and MUCH cheaper than a certain Audi dealership in Alexandria. Mohammed is a Volvo specialist, but when I asked him how much experience he had with Audis he said "40 years. Is that enough?" (Yup.) Car has been trouble free since going to him and hes saved me hundreds of dollars.

I basically needed to know that the car was totaled, and he told me just that. Nice guy, and he did quick work after I brought the car in on a Friday morning.
