I went here to get my car inspected for Maryland. The car failed inspection and they handed me the paper saying what was wrong. I was unfamiliar with the form and asked them exactly what failed. They said they were eating lunch and no one could help me or show me what was wrong. It was 1:30pm and they scored like I was asking a dumb question. They finally had someone assist me. They said they could do the work but I would have to put 50% down for the part they had to order. I received a call later in the week telling me they ordered the wrong part and I needed to pay more. I refused and asked for a refund. I then took the car to a Mazda dealer that also had an inspector on property and told me they would pass the car for the problems Rayo said made it fail. NEVER DO BUSINESS HERE. Not only were they trying to over charge for something that wasnt required but their customer service was awful.

As with the other poster, Im usually not one to write reviews, but like him/her, I have to express my high esteem for Rayco Auto Service. During a time when major auto dealers and auto service chains charge ridiculously high prices for service, usually charging several times what the work is actually worth (translation: try to rip you off), its VERY refreshing to receive the great auto service that Rayco provides, at prices that are very reasonable. After a bad experience with a dealer maintenance shop in which it tried to charge me $400 to replace a headlamp (totally unreal), I decided to give this shop a try. In addition, to the replacement of my light, of which I paid a fair and reasonable price, Rayco has performed more extensive work on my vehicle over the years and still continues to charge very reasonable and fair pricing. I highly recommend it.

This is at least a second generation family shop. They will never diagnose a repair you dont need. They are reasonable and you can bargain a bit, and even go to the nearby shops on Selim Road, but Chang at Rayco will give you peace of mind. They always test drive the cars. Over the past three years he has maintained three of my cars 10 to 20 years old, including backstopping repairs I dared to have done somewhere else. RecentIy, I had major warranty work (90k timing belt and an axle) done on a recently acquired used car (btw he had checked the car and prescribed these repairs before purchase for free!). While doing this, they found other items (belts) that needed replacement. He took pity and only charged me for the parts. I have seen local commercial drivers begging him to fix their cars and give them a break. Apparently he does.

I recently moved to MD and had to get my car inspected. I took it to Rayco and the car passed on everything except for my Tints. So chang ( the owner presumably), says get the Maryland tint limits. So I went home, did the research, went back and got the legal limit tints, then took the car back to Chang for re-inspection. Imagine my surprise when he failed the car again and then tried to charge me a second time for it. I refused to pay him. We got into an argument and that is when he fully disclosed that MDs law is not to have tints at all on the car while it is getting inspected. I wonder how many other people he lies to and tries to charge them twice for services he should have fully disclosed but didnt.

Dont go here! They are dishonest. They broke something on my car and tried to glue it back together with silicone... It was something connected to the carburetor, I took it to another shop down the street and they immediately found what Rayco did. I called Rayco and demanded that they tell my what happened they admitted that the accidentally broke something and the owner then stated that it was too expensive to fix (costed about $300 which was less than what I paid for their "service") and that is why they glued it back together. They eventually replaced it at no additional cost to me but it left a bad taste in my mouth. This was the first and last time I will ever go here! BUYER BEWARE

Absolutely DEPLORABLE... First, I made a joke with the owner, Mr. Pak I believe, and he was completely hostile towards it. Now for the real problem, I took my Mustang in for a tuneup before I left on a 1,000 mile trip. I did not even leave the parking lot when the check engine light came on and had to pull her back in to his shop. It turned out that one spark plugs that he changed did not go all the way in. It went in at an angle and they FORCED it in until it would not go in anymore. I am now paying for their gross neglect to get it fixed and rethreaded... Would not recommend to anyone.

A friend had a a horrible time with RAYCO in Silver Spring, MD. Total rip off!!! They tried to over charge her $300 plus. STAY AWAY FROM THESE DISHONEST PEOPLE. If you have a problem or complaint launch it with BBB & Consumer Report/Affairs. Expose rip off mechanic shops & dealers, call TV News anchor, Doug Buchanan on these type of crooks. Dont allow these crooks to keep getting away with POOR SERVICE & taking your money.

This place is terrible, I went in today for simple Maryland inspection, didnt get it due to the poor customer service and this guy could not even look at me while he was talking. He just made a bunch of hand gestures telling me "No not today,go in make appointment." very rudely. So I chose never to return to this place of business because of its terrible, terrible customer service. I would not send my worst enemy here.

I was skeptical but the reviews are absolutely true - rayco is the BEST place to go in silver spring for car repair. after getting burned by a few other repair shops, I found the positive reviews for this place. They told me everything that was wrong with my car and even told me that I had 6 months to a year before anything got serious so I didnt need a fix. All their prices were 100% fair. definitely recommend rayco!!!

I have taken my 2000 Lexus RX300 to Rayco for 7 years and they have kept it running. There is a huge difference in price between what Rayco charges and what the Lexus dealer charges for the same repair. I also bring family member cars here for diagnosis. Chang will tell you what to do as if it were his own money and his own car, even if the service is not one Rayco provides.
