The dashboard on my 2009 VW Eos said my left light was out. I called AIM and asked if they could replace it. They could and I brought it in to them. It is a repair shop at the intersection of Rhode Island Avenue and 6th Street NW (Note, NW not NE) and you would miss it if you were not looking for it. They asked if I could leave it for an hour or two and it should cost about $50.00. I left it and received a call an hour later to tell me it was a much more expensive and bigger job than expected. Because of the design of the headlight (It moves to follow the curve of the road) it was an expensive bulb and also required that the bumper be removed! It would cost $500.00!!!! She suggested that I could have them do it or check with my dealer first. I called the dealer and did some research on the web and found out they were right! I decided to have the work done at the dealer at some later point and went to pick up my car. I wanted to pay something for their time and effort but she refused! This kind of service, friendliness and straight-forwardness is uncommon today unfortunately but here at AIM those values still exist. They are wonderful.

This couple was amazing- SO friendly, informative, and honest. I came in to ask for advice because so many dishonest mechanics/dealers had told me that I needed thousands of dollars in repairs urgently on a used car I had purchased, but I had only $600 to spend. I asked what the most urgent $600 might be, since I was on a long road trip and still had 5,000 miles to go. After looking my car over, he came back in ranting about mechanics and dealers who only want to make money. He showed me all the parts in question, and said most were either fine, or had very small problems that could be fixed rather than replaced. I ended up spending less than $250 and he told me I had a great car that could easily make it back to Oregon. Hooray!! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and learned a ton. Wish I lived in DC, I would definitely make them my permanent mechanics! (PS, I made it back to Oregon without any car issues!)

Friendly and helpful. Id been happily going to AYT on 14th until they closed & wasnt at-all pleased with AYTs alternative location in Chinatown (apathetic service; very expensive). AIM seemed to have good reviews so I gave it a try. I grew up in more rural reaches and have never left my car with someone whom didnt have an Appalachian accent, but the staff here helped overcome any qualms. Located since 1995 a block from Shaw Metro Station, they are a family-run business and are very friendly & informal. They took the time to not just say what the problem is, but to explain it & show it to me. Thats a sign of a good & honest mechanic: one whom appreciates an educated customer. I had a cracked suspension spring on my Saab 9-3... the work was completed quickly and the prices have seemed reasonable. I will definitely be returning for future car maintenance & repairs.

while we were in Washington, my esclade suddenly had problem with service stabilitrak and traction control light on, the car started to shake during the night. on the second day, we were planning to drive all the way back to michgan. this couple is the best auto repair people I have ever seen. they solved the problem within 3 hours as their first thing in the morning and change me with a ridiculously reasonable price. after I went back to Michigan, they even called me back to ask me about our safety issue. They treat an out-state customer like me in the way with honest and honor. I bet they are the best choice in Washington while you are facing the auto problems.

Amazingly honest and friendly. They accidentally overcharged me $20, I said it was no problem since they only charged me $9 to top off my synthetic oil in my BMW, and they refused and refunded my money. They dont overcharge anything and take great pride in their work. You can rest assured that your car is in good hands and you absolutely are not getting swindled like you do elsewhere. I really cant say enough positive things about this place. This is my new place to go for future maintenance and repairs and I will be recommending it to everyone I know.

Scam pricing! I just moved to the neighborhood and hoped to get a mechanic nearby. My check engine light is on so I wanted a mechanic to take a look. The old lady at the desk told me she would charge me over $100 just to check the engine code! That takes one minute and a standard tool. What a scam! She started trying to BS me about why it costs so much. I can never trust them to charge a fair price. They lost a potential long time customer here! Beware.

Didnt even get a service done by them but my engine oil light was on even though my engine oil was full and the sensor had just been changed and they were just so knowledgeable about reasons why my light was on. He even pointed out a few other things under the hood that were the result of a lazy mechanic so that now I know more about what to look for after having someone work on my car in order to make sure I dont have any problems.

Labor rate ($80) is cheaper than Richmond, VA ($91) or places in MD ($120)! They were so friendly to me and now I see they were v reasonable as well. They serviced my 97 Subaru. I plan to go back again. A note to the guy complaining about the cost of the code- that same diagnostic in severna park, MD is $150 at a mr tire!! It IS outrageous, I agree but not a reason to call Aim a scam.

This auto repair shop may not look like much at first appearance, but the couple that runs it is incredible. They dont overcharge, they check with you before making any repairs, and they inform you if you qualify for any rebates or anything from the manufacturer. Ive taken in 2 different cars here - 1 old, 1 new - and got excellent and reasonable service both times.

I have been bringing my car here for several years and I highly recommend this long-standing "mom and pop" shop (literally). They always call me with an estimate (which is always 99% accurate) before doing any work and make recommendations if I have questions or concerns. Ive really grown to trust them and theyve never let me down.

I was surprised to find this kind of shop in DC. Mom & Pop owned and ran, these guys are responsible and honest. I went there with a valve stem issue. They not only fixed it, but gave me great advice on other areas of my aging truck. All together, a fair price and quality service.

Great experience with them. Knowledgable, honest, detailed, and informative. If I lived in the area, this would be my go to shop for sure.
