The quick notes: - On time - Welcoming - Professional - Thorough - Efficient - Respectful - Friendly - High Quality I finally found a new salon home. Yesterday, I received Loc Maintenance from Mia, and it was, hands down, one of, if not THE, best experiences in my life. The minute I walked into the door, Mia greeted me with a smile and welcoming words, and let me know when we would get started. Once we got started, she gave me a consultation... an ACTUAL consultation. We talked about where I am in my loc process (I shared that I had started my locs about a month ago and that this would be my first maintenance appointment). She looked at, thoroughly felt and smelled my hair and scalp. She explained the process, talked about the products that would be used on my hair that day for the appointment (including what each products role is), tips to properly care for locs in between appointments, and really just overall invested in getting to know me as a customer. Mia did a fantastic job from wash all the way through. My locs looked and felt fantastic after the appointment. We stayed within the time slot, which is really important to me, as it makes me feel valued and respected. Mia was so efficient. She wasnt distracted by anything else. She gave me her full, undivided attention. It was also just a joy to chat with her. She has such a positive personality and attitude. I cant believe that I can actually say that Ive found a salon home, but I have. My whole life it has been really challenging for me to find places where people actually respect their customers time, take good care of the hair, take time to explain and educate the customers, and generally just provide them with a positive experience. Mia sets the bar high; there is a new standard in town. And overall this location is great. It was very clean, metro accessible, just wonderful. I will be back in a month for my next appointment. I highly recommend this place. You wont be disappointment. You will feel valued, respected, well served and educated. Its well worth every penny.

The reason I chose to go to Rachel Joyce Organic Salon was because there were great reviews online and it was in a convenient location. The salon is a short walk from the Columbia Heights metro and there are several bus routes available too. I went for a shampoo, trim, and style and my stylist was Mia. As soon as I arrived I was seated and offered water or tea. Mia did a quick consultation before she started. I appreciated the consultation, and not just because she said my hair was in good condition, but because her questions gave me confidence in her ability to do my hair. During the whole process Mia explained the products she was using and their purpose. The trim part of any appointment is nerve wrecking for me Im already terrified of a scissor happy stylists. Mia showed me how much she was taking off. I felt comfortable the whole time. Her styling was great and quick. My hair is still looking great three days later and one of those days I was caught in some drizzle. I will definitely be going back.

My appointment couldnt have gone better. I came from New York to DC for the weekend and was pleased to find this salon: I was so impressed with their mission statement and the reviews I came across, I had to check it out. The salon is clean with a friendly and peaceful atmosphere, despite the fact that it was a quite busy. I had a cut and blowout with a deep conditioning treatment. My stylist was so gentle and patient, she made my experience very relaxing and soothing. She was skilled and, though I only had a vague idea of what I wanted, she managed to deliver above and beyond. I was extremely happy with the haircut and style. My hair has never looked so healthy and full of life, which i think, is also a testament to the quality of the products used. All in all, the whole experience felt like a treat and I would happily make the trip from New York again to get my hair done. Many Thanks to Rachel Joyce Salon! Keep up the good work.

I left a review on the salon after my second visit. The cut I received didnt seem right at first but after getting it straightened i felt more at ease. Now that it has been several months after the cut I see why I didnt like it. The cut is in fact extremely short all the way around my head with the outside layer remains long. My hair is resilient and will grow back but I wouldnt recommend the lady I used for cuts. But everything else about my experience was really wonderful especially the products.

They do a great job with the color! My hair feels better than it has in years, in part because their stylist follows the protocol exactly and uses a protein rinse recommended by the line. I have seen dozens of Organic Color systems stylists over the years, and some have made a mess of my hair. Rachel Joyce let me maintain control over my formula (I really do know best after all this time using the line), and they do a better job than anyone out there.

The treatment was great, the products were awesome. The cut was okay at first because I thought it was really short. But days later after washing my hair its evident that the cut was done really good too and not to short. But overall Ashley and Daniel were really nice. Those products are amazing and I think thats what takes your salon over the top becasue now a days its hard to find things that are simple and efficient for ethnic hair. ❤️ the salon.

I have officially found my go to salon for my natural hair. I had a 5 pm appointment with Danielle who greeted me soon after I entered the salon and got started. She asked me questions about my hair and scalp and was not scissor happy like previous stylists I have been too. I love that this salon uses organic products and I think the shampoo and conditioner she used helped to temporarily alleviate my dry, itchy scalp.

Danielles great! The salons ambience is welcoming and relaxed . My stylist Danielle aka "Dani" was professional and down to earth. My hair looks and feels great. I told Dani what I wanted; she offered her expert advice. The end result is that my 4C hair and I are sooo grateful! I had my hair blown out, cut, and styled. I whole heartily recommend Dani! Ive already scheduled my next appointment for a twist out!

I love this salon! From the moment I walked in they treated me very well, they took my jacket, gave me tea, and I was seated immediately. My stylist was gentle and knowledgeable, she also let me know what she was doing every step of the way. My hair looked gorgeous afterwards. I am very pleased with my experience here and will definitely come back.

I booked a NYE appointment last minute and was so glad that I did. I got a blowout, trim, and style that was absolutely gorgeous and for a very reasonable price. Additionally, they give you tea and a little shoulder massage when youre done! This will be my go to salon.

Had my first appointment with Folonda yesterday and this was also my first time at the salon. Her service was AMAZING and I was so thankful to be with her. She educated me on hair as well as took the time to treat me well. I will be back to see her!
