This is not the worst haircut I have ever had..but the experience definitely was. The instructor with the long white hair came up and abruptly said the haircut was $18. That was so rude. It was like she was accusing me of not having the money to pay for it. The student turned my chair sideways and the student next to us, cutting and blow drying someone elses hair also had her client sideways, and was blow drying in my face, and at times she was practically in my lap. At least they werent wearing their pajamas like the Benes Beauty school. I asked that the hair on the top of my head be left long. Asked her to section it off so that she couldnt forget. Asked her not to pull it straight up and cut it. Explained till I was blue in the face, and she had this attitude that was stone cold nasty, hateful. Turning the chair sideways meant she could do whatever she wanted to, and she did. I guess the four inches she took off the top will eventually grow back...The instructor came up with a demanding attitude, asking if the haircut was "all right." I kept saying it was uneven, and they stared at me, like they were angry, because I said something, again with the attitude. The bag boy at Publix was friendlier and took better care of the bag of potatoes I bought this week. They made me feel like I was a product on an assembly line. And to have the other clients hair brushed and blow dried a foot from my face was not only uncomfortable, but really showed a lot of disrespect. The instructor and the student talked about me as I was sitting there, and didnt bother to include me in the conversation. What was I expecting from the Aveda Beauty School? They used to be so nice. Scalp massage. Shampoo and Conditioner. Looking through a book of hairstyles. Sectioning off the hair into a dozen sections and carefully cutting. Talking cheerfully and asking how to style the hair. None of that this time. Just chopping away and doing what I asked the girl not to, with a hostile attitude. This is not the haircut I asked for, and they didnt care. I felt sort of bullied to say that I liked it. Sort of felt intimidated because I asked the girl to frame my face, and texture the sides and she did a half hearted attempt making a few cuts here and there, instead of doing both sides and making sure they were even. You can tell when somebody cares and she definitely didnt. At that point what am I supposed to do? They cant attach the hair back on. The only choice I had is to say thats great, so she will stop. I didnt feel like sacrificing any more hair. It is shorter and uneven. Neither one of them smiled once. Awkward.

Shocked and Disappointed I understand its a school. Ive been going for years. I buy a lot of Aveda Products. I have ignored bad cuts ( they always grow out) and bad highlights (not many of these, they typically do a good job, I chose Masters when available). Since they relocated from Downtown St Petersburg, the Supervision has decreased drastically. I dont know if they disappear to smoke or eat or just chat, but many times my Student has been gone 30 minutes to get signed off for their next step. Last visit TOOK THE PRIZE...not only did the Supervisors disappear but so did my Student. Last check the Instructions were to give the highlights a FEW MORE MINUTES. ..I looked at the time...I got distracted watching the other Students working when it dawned on me it had been a long time. Actually, more than 30 minutes had past. I panicked. No one knew where my Student had gone. No one could find a Supervisor. I reached up and removed ONE foil...one of the LAST ones put in my hair...it was WHITE...I rubbed the powder off..still WHITE...Still trying to find someone anyone to care enough to help...I began taking the foils out myself. ..the Student next to me, saw how white it was so she left her client and helped me, while another left her client to find EITHER MY STUDENT OR AN INSTRUCTOR. In the end, it took an additional 30 minutes to Tone it down. ..leaving me with Summer Blonde highlights in the Dead of Winter. ..not the look I had asked for.....No apologies. ..just got MY BUTT CHEWED by the unattentive Instructor because I took my own foils out.....REALLY???? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Oh but this gets worse. ...I called today to schedule a braided updo for my Nieces Wedding in 2 weeks...and I am on a LIST that refuses ME service????? They fixed my hair as best they could. It is a SCHOOL. Ive had more good than bad, I didnt complain above the head of the original Instructor. I hoped it would WAKE THEM UP...that we are REAL PEOPLE with real lives.... Instead of THEM accepting responsibility. ...THEY BLAMED THE CLIENT???? WOW. Wake up AVEDA SCHOOL....Wake up!!! Ive NEVER left spending less than $100. And have spent as much as $300. during a visit! Thanks for your concern. Theres always TWO SIDES to every story. Maybe your POLICY should be....to call the client BEFORE placing them on the BAD LIST....and not BLINDSIDING a good customer????

If I could give 0 stars I would. I understand that you are getting your hair done by a "student" but I went in to get my red color refreshed and left with a completely different color of red even after telling both the student AND the educator that the red they selected was not the right color for what I wanted. When booking the appointment I was told if I knew the color of the previous brand I was using they would be able to color match it, when I showed it to my colorist rolled his eyes and said "I dont understand this" and the educator said "In OUR world your color does not exist". I even asked that if they were unable to match the color to let me go without getting my hair done as I didnt want to ruin my color but they assured me if anything the color would be a few shades lighter than my original color. I left with a dark red/brown hair color. When I told the colorist it was too dark his response was "well the sun will lighten it"...... I shouldnt have to fade my hair in the sun to get the color Im looking for. They also explained to me that because I wanted a "difficult" color I now had to pay DOUBLE the price of what I was told when I booked the appointment and that I had to pay per bowl of dye. They used 1.5 bowls of dye and tried to charge me for 3. The only positive experience was the cashier who provided me with a bag of samples and brought the charge down to 2 bowls of dye because she felt bad that I was clearly unhappy with my hair. I still ended up paying MORE than I would have at my old salon (I recently moved to this area). Dont bother going here unless you want something simple and fool-proof done as they do not seem to do well with client interaction or "difficult" requests such as red hair dye.
