Moving is never easy, being asked to move with two weeks notice is stressful, and moving in a hurricane is an unbelievable nightmare. Fortunately, after calling around to three moving companies, I found the Suddath Moving company who said YES they could move me quickly. Deb Hicks arrived as my coordinator and quickly gave me an estimate with a smile on her face as she diligently helped coordinate the move with their logistics operation. This was no easy task given that while I needed to move quickly I was only going to be available certain days and it was days before a holiday weekend. Good job Deb. I then spoke to Shar-Dey in logistics who helped schedule the pick up that had to be done in one week and coordinated the delivery; an almost impossible task because once they picked me up I had to travel for work not once but twice. Thank you Shar-Dey for all the early morning and late night calls to check on me and update me...very comforting. But the true heros where the team of three who arrived to pick up my goods. They arrived in Tampa the morning Hurricane Hermine became the first hurricane to make landfall in Florida since Hurricane Wilma in 2005....yeah what fun! Joyce, Michael and Vic...aka calm, cool and collected were all kind, courteous and friendly and not one complaint out of their mouths. I was blown away and learned a lesson in keeping cool under pressure. They managed to move me between torrential downpours taking care to wrap everything carefully. Oh and I lived on the top floor with no elevator. I cannot say enough about Miss Joyce who was a Godsend. She is to be applauded and if she is your team leader and Vic and Michael are helping trust me you will be in good hands. Into Atlanta Harold and Reggie moved me and again the Suddath team expertly handled their 18 wheeler into an apartment community and figured out the logistics to get my goods from the bottom of the parking deck to my place on the top floor; they too kept me calm and said "we got this". Suddath you can count on me always using you for every move I make....great job in hiring people who care and take time to do the job professionally.

I have used Suddath twice now in the last 2 years. My son was in the Navy and when he got out he moved from the east coast of Florida to the west coast of Florida. Suddath was there to unload the trailer and the crew was very professional and hard working. That was the first move. Then on New Years Eve, 2016, he was moving back to the east coast for a new employment opportunity and needed help again. The crew from Suddath did a super job! They had him loaded in 3.5 hours and this was from a 3rd floor apartment with one small elevator. They sent a 3 man crew and they were awesome!! Cant say enough about their professionalism, their organizational skills and their politeness! Hats off to Suddath! Great company.. Great Team! I just bought my first home. And since Suddath moved my son and did such a fantastic professional job of it.. I had them move me from my Condo to my new home. The stress alone on purchasing the house was bad enough.. but when the closing was moved to a week later.. I was on the melt down side. But thanks to the wonderful team at Suddath, from the Operations department to customer service to the crew that moved me.. they relieved a lot of my stress and anxiety. Assuring me that when ever the closing was final.. they would see to getting my belongs to the new place on time. The crew, Doug/ Marina/ Henry and Markie were very very professional, friendly and hard working. They handled my goods carefully and took precaution so that nothing was damaged! Since I lived in a 55+ community and the neighbors had to come watch. I went back the next day to clean up the old place and a lot of the people who are Snowbirds commented on how professional and hard working the move crew was. I was very pleased to hear that. Thanks Suddath for having such a wonderful team. I would defiantly recommend them and if needed use them again. Thanks Team Suddath! You ROCK!

We knew we were in trouble when we heard "uh-oh" and "get the camera" from the crew delivering our furniture. The furniture had been wrapped in one layer of brown paper (no quilts, no padding) and placed in crates. The crates were not full, and the things in them had obviously shifted around a lot. One crate was broken. Everything from dining room furniture to an oil painting was gouged and scratched, and there is a strange mold on some items. Many items had sentimental value - the oil painting has been in the family for three generations. Filing a claim was time-consuming, because we had to estimate the date of purchase and cost to replace each item. Once the claim was filed, it took several phone calls and two weeks to have a Furniture Medic franchisee come out (apparently an adjuster was not available), then another set of phone calls and two weeks to be told that some of the damage would not be covered because the Suddath employees packing it had marked that it was damaged when they picked it up. It turns out that the "item numbers" the Suddath employee had referred to on the packing form were actually codes for "scratched," "gouged," "chipped," etc. and that most items, even brand new items, were coded as already damaged. Given the cost of the move, the damage caused and the time weve spent filing paperwork, following up to try to get an adjuster to come out and meeting with the Furniture Medic, we would have been better off putting everything out on the curb and buying new furniture at our destination. We cant recommend you hire Suddath to move your household, but if you do, take photos of each item BEFORE it leaves your home. Do not sign any forms without understanding what codes are embedded in their "item numbers."

Gary, Beverly and Steve, As you can tell, this would not have happened without your help on this great project. It showed how important the business community is and how each of us can make a difference. Sometimes we don’t always see or hear about the great things that happen in a community. Kudo’s to all the teachers and kids in DECA that help make this a special project. Team Suddath: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your help. This was a huge logistic effort and could not have happen without you. Good Morning Team, I hope all is well. The DECA Emerging Leaders Summit was awesome! In regards to the helping Hands Project, Florida DECA collected 61,594 servings of oatmeal and grits, 227 undershirts, 597 pairs of socks, and 32 other items, for a total of 62,450 items!! Our local chapter also collected 50 pairs of tennis shoes. I have attached a few pictures of the conference and our excursion to Busch Gardens. We help to load donations on the dock, but did not have any pictures of the Suddath truck, because it came about 30 minutes after our charter bus left for Busch Gardens. On Behalf of Florida DECA, and the Clara White Mission, we would like to send a special thank you to Stephen Pollan and ATG staff, and Gary Paul, Beverly Rogers and Steve Von Oetinger at Suddath Van Lines, for helping to make this an awesome event! We could not have made this happen without your help. We appreciate you all for being a part of our community service project. Services like this, makes you proud to be connected to such a great community! Thank you and be well! We make a living from what we get, but we make a life from what we give. *Winston Churchill*
