I am the Executive Director of a small nonprofit private school and behavioral clinic. This was my second time going through American Electrical Contracting to install smoke detectors and exit signs. After contacting several companies in Jacksonville and receiving outrageous quotes to have these installed, American Electrical Contracting was the only company to give a reasonable quote on price. After the first installation, a two and half years later, we expanded and now have an additional wing. Of course I called American Electrical again. Will and George were awesome at explaining the process to me, the expected amount of time, and also did not disturb our classes and therapy sessions that were going on around them. They were very nice, helpful, and accurate about the amount of time it would take. Even when they had to make a few small holes in our walls that were able to be seen due to the brown paint being chipped, they offered and did in fact bring their own paint from home to patch up the small holes and cover it up with the matching paint color. They also cleaned up every bit of dust, dirt, etc. that was created!

I called and requested an appointment and I was given Thursday Dec 1 as the day. On the morning of Thursday Dec 1 I called to confirm the appointment and the scheduler had not set up my time. So she quickly tried to get me in on the afternoon. I waited from 8 am until 3:30 to hear from the tech and was told he was an hour away and could not come. He set up a time for 10 am the next day. He arrived early and I was already with another appointment so he left and I was told that they could not do my project today and I have company coming tonight. There were many conflicting stories between the scheduler and the tech and another gentleman who got on the phone and no one really knew when the original appointment was made and that I would not be able to get my work done until next week. I was told that the tech arrived when it was possible for them and that I would have to pay the tech to wait a few minutes when I sat all day yesterday waiting for them.

I received a complete home automation service from American Electrical Contracting. First off, the staff is great! The team of guys is very helpful and always came ready to work. There were cameras installed around my entire house including my dock. Each camera displays a crystal clear image. The American Electrical team made it possible for me to access the cameras from inside my home (on my tv) as well as away from my home (on my iPhone). I am now able to see every inch of my home 24/7. The team also installed an automated lighting system around my entire house. This allows me to turn on/off the lights outside of my home. I am also able to do this from my iPhone. In addition, I am able to open/close my gate and garage. This again is all done through my iPhone. All in all, the American Electrical team made automating my entire home possible. Everything from security to gates and garages to lighting. The American Electrical team does it all!

Typically Im a DIYer but I know when there is a need to get a Pro. I was trying to raise the electrical boxes in my kitchen island because they were too close to the newly installed granite countertop. I was told it was no big deal to move the outlets after cutting the 2x4 just above them until I accidentally cut a wire that ran over the top of one of the outlet boxes. I used the Snapfix feature on the Angies list app and got a response within a few minutes. I contacted the electrician I was linked to which was American Electrical Contracting. They had an electrician out to me the same day. Brian was very professional and went to work right away. I was so impressed that he had the wire I had accidentally cut and all five boxes moved up so the granite backsplash could be installed without further delay. He also took the $25 off for being an Angies list customer. I would definitely hire again.

I had an appointment to have a safety inspection on a property I own (rather routine, uncomplicated service). The window for the appointment I was given was "sometime after 2". By 3:30 I had heard nothing, so I called to see if they could narrow down when I might expect the electrician. I was told they couldnt narrow down the time frame any more than the original "after 2", but I would get a call when the electrician was 30 minutes out. As of 5:30 I still hadnt heard from anyone, so with just a few phone calls, I found someone else who could provide the exact same service, at a hard time (8 am the next morning), for $50 cheaper. I cant speak to their more specialized or complicated services, but for the more routine things, I highly recommend shopping around. There are several other options out there at much better prices. All of which seem very eager to have your business.

Terrible experience and this is the first time in my life that I have left a bad review for anyone, ever. I was scheduled for a Tuesday afternoon and after hours of waiting, I called and received no explanation or apology. Instead, they scheduled me for Thursday. I was told I was the first appointment and would get a courtesy call before they came out. On Thursday, they called during the time frame they were supposed to already be at my house (so, late on the courtesy call) and I called back within 5 minutes. I was told that because they couldnt reach me, they were going to do another job and would contact me "later in the day...it will be several hours later". Twice I had to arrange for someone to be at my house. Neither time did I receive an apology and then for them to blame it on me not getting back to them within 5 minutes is totally poor business. I am furious.

I had a list for George and Will when they arrived: install ceiling fan, check swimming pool lights, install GFCI outlets and some minor repairs. They were very knowledgable, polite and kept their work space clean. They made recommendations that saved me money. They also suggested that I replace my old smoke detectors, add a surge protector to protect the whole house, and install a separate outlet, without GFCI, for refrigerator and freezer. I appreciated their suggestions and asked them to do the work. As they were finishing I noticed the ceiling fan was higher than I expected. When I pointed this out they had no problem getting their ladder and tools back out and taking them up stairs and lowering the fan to a level I was satisfied with. I am very satisfied with who they are and the work they performed. I will call them for my future electrical needs!
