Having just moved here, I was afraid that finding a hairstylist for my wife and I was going to be a disastrous chain of events that would lead into crooked head, why do I have a weird part on one side of my head, and the other side looks like a goat had a field day on it haircuts for me, and waking up next to my wife, reaching to pet her hair (she loves it when I do) to realize the hair I was petting was no longer on her head, but laying in a big ball that looked like the cat had a fur ball episode, and whatever was left on her head was now brittle and yellowish-green as she is crying in a fetal position in the corner of the room (can you tell Ive been through this nightmare before?). Reading reviews on many places, I settled on this place. I went first as the Guinea pig (I can deal with bad hair. My wife has hair down to her back, so its my job to take the bullet if need be). I picked Marie as she listed her specialty as a hair colorist. She is awesome. Very friendly and did a great job on my hair (Im picky). We talked about her hair coloring experience and felt better about things. With that said, I was leary to say the least. She is young and concerned about her lack of years of experience. Well, she definitely put that to rest. My wife has been a blonde most of her life and she wanted to go red. Yikes! Red is tricky. Cant be too red or you look like a cartoon character, and too orange and you look like a fruit. She went a couple times to do her hair blonde and Mary did an amazing job. They hit it off great as well, which doesnt hurt. Color was beautiful and hair was still thick, so she took the plunge on the red. All I can say is WOW! So much for being too young. The color came out gorgeous, but she added different layers of red, making it look incredibly full and natural. Her hair feels better and thicker than it ever has. My wife has light blue eyes and a few freckles so everyone thinks its her natural color. She did an amazing job!!! My wife has gone back 4 more times since to keep the red up, and its been flawless every time. I wanted to wait to post a review until I knew if it was a fluke or if she really is that good. Guess what? She really is that good! As far as the place itself, the staff is always very nice, offering you something to drink when you come in. Its clean and organized and has a good feel to it. To summarize, I have been to some of the best salons and hairstylists in the country in NY, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, and Marie is one of the best Ive seen. The prices are just right. Dont misunderstand me. Its not cheap, but not the most expensive either, and in this case, you get what you pay for and more.

Ive visited this salon a couple of times now for hair color. The first time, when I described what I wanted, (basically red/strawberry blonde with blonde highlights), I came away with distinct stripes of blonde on a dark red base. I didnt complain, I figured it mightve been that I described it in a confusing manner or something, so I just got used to it. Theyre the pros, right? Surely it was my fault. Eventually it faded and looked a little better. I decided to go back and have my hair colored right before my engagement photos. I went in and described as best I could almost the exact thing I wanted the first time. Like most of the world (I suspect), I am a layman when it comes to understanding hair color chemicals and base colors etc. The best I could do was show pictures and try and explain what I wanted. I stressed NATURAL. I even brought my mother in (who had the same idea as I did and who is a pretty good communicator, better than me in fact) to help me explain. I came away with brunette hair and purplish red highlights. Does that sound natural? So... I went back to have it fixed. I thought maybe if it was just lightened it would be okay? So Tara lightened it.... to PUMPKIN ORANGE. Does _that_ sound natural? I went back yet again and of course by that time were all a little irritated. Its understandable. They changed my stylist to Amanda and she fixed it, just in time. I thought things were good, I thanked them etc. Now, months later, I want to get my hair back to that- back to what Amanda did for me. I called them up and discovered that they have blocked me from scheduling appointments. So, months before my wedding, I am up a creek with no paddles because of one womans petty revenge. Her name is Tara. So if you want natural hair, or if you are just looking for someone who can actually communicate in laymans terms instead of doing what they think will look best, dont go to Tara. In fact, dont go to Salon West to begin with.

Ive been an extremely satisfied customer of Salon West since 2014 and have been professionally pampered during every monthly visit. Valerie has taken excellent care of my hair using only the highest quality products that are specifically chosen for my hair type. Her knowledge base and well-honed skills have helped me many times in selecting attractive haircuts and color that complement my face shape and are trendy, fashionable and age appropriate. Thank you, Valerie, for your kindness and professionalism and for always making me feel special and appreciated. The Salon and Spa is kept very clean and updated. The shampoo area was recently renovated with relaxing massage chairs at the shampoo bowls. There is nothing more de-stressing than their professional scalp massage during your shampoo. I also really appreciate their thoughtful appointment reminders sent via text and email. But wait, theres more...some added perks for Salon West customers like being greeted with a complimentary beverage and/or snacks that you can enjoy during your self-indulgent visit and the free hand massage that awaits you while you wait for your color or curl to process. I have been a client of Jennys for almost 10 years at this location and their prior location just down the road. I love the salon. The atmosphere is pleasant, the staff is friendly and professional. I am always met with the offer of a beverage (water, coffee, soda or WINE) and there are even snacks available which comes in handy when I being my teenage daughter. I love the hand and arm massage I get while my hair is processing. Jenny is an amazing stylist. I dont even tell her what I want anymore...I just tell her to do what she thinks I need and it always turns out perfect. She now now does my daughters hair as well. Its great to have a stylist that also consults when my daughter has a crazy idea. The stylists at Salon West attend ongoing color classes and other workshops to continue improving their craft. I drive 45 minutes each way every 7-8 weeks to visit this salon and Jenny!

Every time I go here, I have a wonderful experience. The salon is beautiful: The décor and color scheme is contemporary and elegant. They are hospitable: There is a waiting lounge with comfy couches and free beverages, and a color bar where you can sit and look at all your color options on swatches of hair. They are multi-talented: They offer cuts for women/men/kids, color, waxing, manis, etc. etc.They are friendly, knowledgeable, talented: The first time I met my stylist Amanda was to correct an uneven hair cut that I got from Regis Salon. She knew exactly how to fix it. She was sympathetic and talented and I have trusted her with my haircuts ever since. I have referred friends to this salon because I am so confident and pleased with their expertise. I have gone here many times and will certainly be back again, and would recommend Salon West to anyone.
