I have been doing CrossFit for a little under two years. My box will be closing next year, so I thought I would jump start my search for a new CrossFit gym. I went to Aim Higher because I know Thiago from his days as a personal trainer at Equinox and it is right around the corner from my job. Although I love my former box, I was immediately impressed with Aim Higher. They do take those extra steps to ensure that your work-outs are injury-free by starting each session with foam rolling (self-myofascial release) and then a sequence of warm up exercises. You then move on to the skill (of the day) and finally, the actual WOD. The coaches concentrate on form and if you know anything about CrossFit, you understand the importance of proper form during olympic weightlifting. They maintain the right ratio of coach to member so the coach has time to work with you. On Tuesdays and Thursdays they offer mobility classes. Again, something that is often overlooked, but extremely important if you want to improve your CrossFit skills and stay injury free. Additionally, they offer classes dedicated solely to olympic weightlifting. All the coaches are great and so is the staff. If you are looking for a new box, feel that you have hit a plateau, or just want to try CrossFit, this is the place. Aim Higher is really a great box!

Dropped in on a random day last week, Thiago greeted me and I was impressed. He is very personable, professional, has a high level of knowledge and made me feel welcome. The gym space itself is well fitted, nicely spaced, lots of equipment, clean and good AC. Thiago invited me to come to a weightlifting class with coach Ryan. I attended the 1.5hr class (which is a great length of time) and again was greeted warmly by Thiago. He introduced me to the other staff members and also fellow gym goers. Coach Ryan was supported by coach Tommy for the class. They both gave clear instruction, constantly monitored technique, gave coaching points appropriately and gave strong motivation. The class started with mobility & stretching, and ended with it also. This was one of the highlights for me, as so many other weightlifting centres leave this to the athlete - thus it can be neglected or done incorrectly. Overall a very impressive first taste of Aim Higher Crossfit. I will be attending another class this week, in order to work with the team again. As I have only seen the weightlifting coaching, I cannot speak for the other classes on offer. However, I have no doubt that that skill, knowledge, motivation and professionalism runs through the whole team here.

I have always been a little skeptical to try "crossfit," but decided to give it a go because I was sick of my same old unmotivating solo workouts. I looked at a couple options and asked my trusted personal trainer friend if he knew Aim Higher and he knew the head coach from his days at Equinox and highly recommended it, primarily because of the attention to detail given to injury prevention. A lot of crossfit gyms just care about making their money and not about the members health. I did a class and loved it so much I joined the next day and have been going for a month regularly. There really is an "Aim Higher" philosophy to this gym. The coaches pay such attention to detail and make sure you know how to crawl before you try and walk. Slowly but surely and aiming higher, they want you to achieve your fitness goals and improve, but in the right, safe way. Thiago, Alfred, and Tommy all know their stuff and are very friendly while being equally motivating. Every day is a new and different challenge, constantly striving to improve. My overall mood has improved tremendously since joining Aim Higher and I cant wait to see what Ill be able to do in another month. Also, the facility is top-notch and clean. 5 stars for a reason!

I started doing CrossFit a few months before I went to Aim Higher. I live in California and I was visiting a friend in Miami. It is always interesting to see how different boxes run their business. From the moment I stepped into the gym, the service was incredible, the equipment is top notch, and the instructors (Thiago, Melanie, Minnie too name a few...) are knowledgable and personable. I was a college athlete and I am always seeking a challenge. Aim Higher pushed my limits and created an AWESOME workout for the classes I went to. They are definitely a community that wants to see you achieve your fitness goals. I think the most important thing to remember is that CrossFit is for any age and fitness level. They offer mobility classes that that develop flexibility strategies, improve positioning and movement set-up, and implement body maintenance practices- which leads to decreased chance of injury. Aim Higher is able to modify or challenge their members depending on their fitness goals and overall needs. I wish I lived closer so I could go every day!!! Once you try them out youll see that they have a great atmosphere and helpful instructors who give attention to each member. Go take your FREE trail class NOW!!! -Lindsay

As a Canadian visiting Miami, I had the opportunity to work out at this gym almost everyday for 3 weeks. I felt inspired & uplifted by the staff coaches who had fit bodies but the difference is that they made me feel like it was possible for me too. I just needed the correct training. That gave me the motivation to arrive everyday knowing I was going to have a complete workout based on challenging but safe movements & principles learned during the prerequisite basic training of Powerhouse class. This is very distinct to this gym. Coach Ryan encouraged me everyday by accompanying me with his mental toughness approach which pushed me to accomplish & power through demanding workouts. Of course it was difficult but ultimately it became empowering and made the difference for me in staying focused on my goal of becoming fitter & healthier. To top that, an added benefit was the mobility class which helped me in easing the muscle tension & physical soreness which occurs when starting a new workout regimen. Feeling less tight post workouts definitely was an added bonus. How unique is that! Thanks Coach Melanie! Without a shadow of a doubt, I highly recommend this gym. Your body will thank you! :)

The first time I stepped into Aim Higher, the first thing I noticed was, cleanliness, functional space, the turf area and the equipment to meet the demands for every demographic possible from novice, fitness enthusiast to professional. Then when I spoke to the staff and coaches, I knew I was someplace special. I knew the objective of the staff was just not to sign up another potential member, take them through a crash course of the lifts and release them to their own peril. Safety is priority one. After all, that is why we exercise in the first place, to get better and healthier. The staff told me that I would be involved in learning SMR (self myofacial release) techniques, mobility classes and the proper technique and execution of all exercises from easy to complex (such as Olympic lifts). Knowing that someone has my back at all times and will call out bad form and execution/technique puts me at ease and lets me know that I am genuinely cared for and looked after. That to me is what separates this "box" from the other "boxes" out there. In addition to the awesome staff and facility, my experience at Aim Higher has been nothing but fun and really positive.
