For those of you who dont want to read my whole review heres a summary. Our party of seven waited for more than an hour and a half for our food. When it finally came it was so bad that two meals were sent back with no requested replacement and the other five were not fully cooked and seemed to be sitting under a heating lamp for a very long time. The wait staff ranged from non-responsive to absent. Even bread took almost an hour to come. You should never come here! Below is a more detailed telling of our night. A party of seven of use recently ate at Pisces Rising and we had a miserable time. To begin, the waitstaff was annoyingly absent and we waited for 15 minutes before our drink order was taken, 45 minutes for the bread (which we quickly devoured because of hunger) and an additional 35 after asking for another basket. Our party ordered two New York Strips (Med and Med-Well) three scallops dishes, one simple pasta plate, and one "Shrimp and Grits." After waiting for 90 minutes, and numerous complaints, our food finally arrived. It was so bad that two people in our group sent it back and said they didnt want anything else, by then it was almost 9:00! The Med-Well steak was beyond well done, the Med steak was cooked properly but was so dry that it seemed to have sat under a heating lamp for more than 30 minutes. The vegetables were raw (yes, literally) and the scallops were so bad that one person in my party said "This is the first time Ive ever left a scallop uneaten." A common theme to the meals was the feeling that all of our meals had been sitting under a heat lamp for the better part of an hour. To make matters worse, the waitstaff and managment were full of excuses when we complained. We were told at one point that "the medium well steak is holding everthing els back." Not only did this embarrass my wife, who ordered the steak, but infuriated all of us because nobody believes that it takes 90 minutes to cook a steak! When the manager came to address our complaints she was VERY rude and full of excuses that carried no weight. Telling a party that had made reservations that the restaurant is too busy to properly care for us is ridiculous. Thats what reservations are for. Lastly, when the check (finally) came they hadnt even taken the steaks off! At the very least they should have comped the meals! This was a horrible restaurant! In the end everyone left with a bad memory of this place and two left with empty stomachs.

While visiting Mt. Dora we came across Pisces Rising while walking through historic downtown. We were seated quickly enough and our server was pleasant. The food was bland and over priced for what you get. Our problem didnt come till the end of the meal when we discovered that we had forgotten our credit card. Having managed mid to upper scale restaurants I thought that making arrangement for payment would be not problem. These things do happen after all. The owner Ann Winters came out followed closely by one of the waiters and we explained the situation. Before we were able to ask about arrangements Ms. Winters loudly said that was "convenient" that we finished our meal and suddenly had a problem paying, that we were committing retail theft, and that our timing was very suspicious. All the while the waiter that followed her began to inch closer, glaring at both me and my fiance, and I felt physically intimidated by him. If the situation and her histrionics werent humiliating enough she refused to make arrangements for payment. We offered to have one of us stay while the other went home offered to leave our IDs or something of like value; all the while she is gesturing broadly, touching my fiance on his hands and arms, refusing to address him appropriately. At this point the other customers were staring at us and I got the impression that she was more interested in making a scene than resolving this. Finally she agreed to take my fiances ID, after she verified that it was a valid ID, while we went home to get the card and call in the number. My fiance had to work the next day and needed his drivers license so we said that we would come back that night to pick it up. Ms. Winters said that she didnt want us to come back and that she would mail it to us. It took quite a bit of prompting but was able to convince her to return the drivers license that night. When we got home my fiance immediately called and paid for our meal. The man that answered was the same waiter that Ms. Winters used to intimidate us. We got a lot of attitude on that call with the waiter saying "well see if this goes through", informing my fiance that he was adding gratuity to the bill, and at the end said that they would mail his ID after we arranged to pick it up that night. We are never going back there and I wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

We took my boyfriends family to Pisces Rising for a late Mothers Day celebration, and while I was impressed with the waterfront views and the detailed, vintage building, I was much less excited about our dining experience there. We didnt have any issues with service, although I was confused as to why they did not have a beer menu: we were told that we could find their list of beers written on a chalkboard wall behind the bar, and this was not easy to see from our table. The server had to go to the bar, memorize the list and then come back and repeat it back to us. We ordered a variety of dishes, but I myself was talked into ordering their special of the day, which was a duck and mashed potato spring roll with a chocolate sauce. From the description that the waiter gave it sounded amazing, and it tasted just as good, I was just disappointed in the amount of food that I got for the price that I paid, which I felt was not enough food to justify the high price tag. Everyone in my party had one or two small issues with their dishes, as well, but nothing that warranted sending anything back to the kitchen. While I doubt I will find myself returning to Pisces Rising, overall we enjoyed our lunch and the atmosphere, we just werent very impressed with the quality of the food.

If you look on other restaurant rating apps youll get a good picture of the quality here. First attempted visit I made reservations for an anniversary dinner with requested seat by a window. Was told no problem. We show up the next week for our date and had to wait 15 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us. The restaurant was practically empty at this point. We are then seated not by the window. I object and am told we cant sit by the window at an open table because it was reserved. I informed the hostess we reserved a table by the window to no avail. So we wait 15 more minutes and our waiter never shows up. Other tables were being helped after we sat down, just not ours. So we got up and left, which prompted our absent waiter to show up all of a sudden and with snark tell us he was on his way. We left. Second visit was for a birthday party. I ordered mushroom risotto. Ive had better from a box. My wife had some sort of paella that was full of shell pieces and grit on the bottom of the bowl. Another guest received a mussel that was still closed, which was a sign. My wife and I ended up riding the Hershey highway that night. Terrible.
