Great food, we ordered 4 dishes 1st the Carolina pork which is slightly spicy and taste great, 2nd the smoked chicken nachos which came with plenty of cheese and large chunks of savory smoke white chicken meat, tomatoes and side of salsa and sour cream, 3rd sliced brisket which was cooked perfect, the only small fault I could find with the brisket was they only gave three slices which I thought was a little light, 4th we ordered burnt ends and they where crispy tender and tasteful. We ordered Mac n cheese, hand cut fries, green beans, sweet potato mash and baked beans and all of the sides were excellent and tasted fresh. For drinks we ordered whisky sours (which you get to pick your whisky and there is tons to choose from), beers, sweet tea and some cheer wine. Our server Daniel was excellent he checked on us often and we never had too asks for refills and our food was brought out very promptly. We ate outside at night on a beautiful cool evening with the Christmas lights laminating the park across the street.

Getting only 3 stars this time because my meal was almost inedible...normally i would give this restaurant 5 stars because the food and service are great...but tried a New dish tonight and it was beyond terrible...the shrimp and grits! I am a S/G lover and have it often and everywhere....this was by far the worst. It looked unrecognizable as S/G instead looking like a plate of slop! It was so spicy that tne only flavor was heat...too much heat. I am all about spicy food but it must have FLAVOR! No flavor here just HOT! Shrimp were overcooked to point of being rubber and there were chunks of pork or beef and big hunks of tomato and mushrioms and onions...it was like hot tasteless gumbo on top of watery grits. Shrimp and grits is an iconic dish that is about the shrimp and the grits...with a little sauce or relish to change it up chef by chef... please stick to what you do best...BBQ ...and collards...they are the best here...but the S/G is a big MISS!

Massive portions. Enjoy down home comfort food with a flair for the fancy (as well as an increased price). Well trained bar staff in line with their whiskey bar theme. Enjoy high end whiskey and bourbon neat, on the rocks, or mixed into a concoction. Ask about mixing cherry juice in your drink. Its a thing. Be warned though, it could change you into a whiskey connoisseur, which isnt a cheap hobby. The food was delicious with ridiculously large portions with a surprisingly high but not out of line price. Not a bad place to share plates. They definitely put their own flare on things, and have a nice dark ambience. Good for a date or to eat solo at the bar. Good location in downtown Ocala with an upscale but inexpensive pool hall/bar upstairs.

Had a late lunch/ early dinner here today, and I have to say, I was very impressed. We sat at the bar, and their display of all of the whiskey was amazing. Im not much of a whiskey drinker myself, but I tried the Kentucky mule. Im still not the biggest fan of whiskey, but that was a damn good drink. As for the food, I ordered the buttermilk fried chicken, with corn and mac and cheese, and it all tasted phenomenal. My boyfriend has the brisket and he loved it. All those different sauces to try kept him pretty occupied as well. My favorite was the smokey chipotle. It had some serious kick! Service was good. The bartender was very nice and fast. The prices were very reasonable as well. Over all we had a great experience

Very noisy. Brick walls, hard floors, and open ceiling amplifies and echoes noise. Probably 50% occupancy but so noisy not possible to have normal conversation with others at table. Food mediocre at best. The Sloppy Mojo was not too bad; coleslaw was watery. Presentation was terrible - have had better meals served on butcher paper. Catfish was way over fried - exterior charred and tough. Fries also over fried, salty, and greasy. Selection of BBQ sauces on table were unremarkable. Very nice selection of quality liquors. However, not the atmosphere to enjoy $30 cocktail. Wait staff was cordial and helpful.

Great atmosphere and a full menu. Good craft beers on tap and a two story wall with all kinds of bourbon and whiskey. My wife and I shared the "whole hawg" which included ribs, beef brisket, turkey brisket, pulled pork, half of a chicken and sausage with four sides for $36. Could have easily been shared by three grown men. Bearded men. On motorcycles. If they, you know, shared food. Sides were great, made in-house. We also split a bowl of Brunswick stew which was very good but tasted more like a BBQ chili stew than Brunswick. All in all a great meal at a good price that I would recommend to most anyone.

$18.50 for burnt ends. Ordered a whiskey, waited 15 minutes, asked where it was just to be told they were out of it. Were you gonna come and tell me or just ignore it? I then ordered another brand instead. Waited another 15 minutes while watching the bartender play around with a couple idiots at the bar. Food came so i told the waitress to forget about it. Burnt ends were dry. Baked beans looked like they got ran over by a train. Never again.

You will have larger portions at any of the area retirement homes. The brisket may be a week old at best but you wont know as the portion is so small. As for value this meat may be the only thing more expensive than printer ink. Fun place for drinks but not for a great dinner with family. Most dishes are about the same with the only difference being what sauce is on top. Very loud as well. A shame as I love bar b que and whiskey.

Sneaky naming! This is Mojo BBQ! Which is tasty and consistent and love the decor in all their restaurants but we would not have picked it if we would have known it was the same restaurant that we have a mile from our house in Gainesville. Great marketing tactic but would have liked to eat something more local to Ocala during our visit (it was to hot out to go anywhere else at the point when we decided to eat here).

Slow to have food served. Seated quickly. Waitress not attentive. Acted annoyed when I asked about part of my meal missing. Smoked turkey was juicy and good. Love the sauce sections. Burger cooked perfectly to medium. Mac and cheese wonderful. Cole slaw sweet and creamy. Jalapeno cornbread was dry and could have used butter that was not offered. I will visit again, food was good, service was sorry.

I first visited this chain at their Gainesville location (Hogtown) and loved it. When I heard Ocala had a new whiskey bar, I hoped it would be similar to Hogtown. This new location did not disappoint. The burnt ends are melt in your mouth delicious and their whiskey cocktails are expertly made. A little on the pricey side, but so worth it.
