I have always liked Tijuana Flats food...not good for you, but really tasty. Ive been to the TF in Orange City 3 times now, each time for takeout. The bill this last time (July 31, 2010) was just over $24 for 3 items. The girl at the register made a point of looking to see if I gave a tip. When she noticed I didnt, she gave a real exasperated, kinda dirty look at me (cross between a scowl and an eye roll). I was pretty peeved and almost asked for the manager, but I was busy and didnt have time...thats why I was taking out. I dont tip at Tijuana Flats when Im eating in - Im certainly not going to tip when Im taking out. At TF, You wait in a line and order what you want at the register, it is NOT table side service. I will note that Tijuana Flats (and several other restaurants) has a TIP line on your receipt, which I think is totally inappropriate. They want you to TIP when you order/pay, before you have even seen your food. Dont be a robot...just because the TIP line is there...dont use it. After you order and pay, the counter staff brings your food when it is ready (You used to have to put your own trash in the exit garbage can...now they do that). This is one step above BK, Wendys or McDonalds. As a matter of fact, there are a few other restaurants that serve their food like this and they certainly dont expect/get tips either (Pollo Tropical, Dickies BBQ, Firehouse Subs, etc...). If the wait staff is particularly attentive at TF, and they usually are, and they refill my drink, then I usually leave a dollar for the trouble (similar to a Chinese Buffet...). I have to say...for the food, The Orange City Tijuana Flats gets a 4 out of 5, for the rude service at the counter, I have to give a 1 out of 5. Overall, the experience that day was a 2 out of 5. For everyone else out there who wonders if you should tip for takeout. The answer is a big, resounding NO. I have 5 brothers and sisters. When we were young, we all worked as wait staff to work our way through college. Regardless of the class/type of restaurant, takeout is a function of the restaurant and is similar to wait staff having to come in to help set up, or stay late to help prep for the next day. If someone is particularly nice when you are ordering take out, or makes a real point to show that they make sure your SPECIAL ORDER was handled properly, feel free to tip. In those instances, I will also tip the person who checks me out (usually 2-3 dollars for a BIG order, but never a percentage of the bill). Agree or disagree with my tipping philosophy, to each their own...you have to agree that employees should never make rude faces at customers.

i will never eat here again! i went there and ordered a chicken and BLACK bean burrito and i get all the way home which is 30 min away. As i take a bite into this burrito it is BEEF & RE-FRIED BEANS! 1. i HATE with the strongest passion refried beans 2.i dont ear red meat! I dont understand how they can mess up someones order, especially with take out. They do not know how far someone drove or has to drive to get home from there. its not a common restuarant in this area. so most people have to drive a distance. secondly it was slow! ive never been there and this being my first time, they left a bad impression for me and i will NEVER eat there again. and i hope this review along with the others allows you to realize there are better options to dine. AND there chips are flat and stale.. and the verde sauce(which the girl at the register said was hot) was mild. i dont know what they do there or how maintain customers. this place is forever a Hole in the Mall with Mexican seasonings

Good service as soon as you walk in you are greeted by staff and directed where to go to order and pay. Yes , you do pay as soon as you order before ever seeing your food. So for first timers this can be a little weary. But rest assured, if tacos / Mexican style foos is what you came for its 100 times better than Taco Bell. You will actually get a very nice size taco. Anytime a meal consists of two count tacos and you leave full then they must be giving you an amount of significance. I give three stars only because in my opinion , the cleanliness of tables and surroundings could be for sure taken up a notch. Bathrooms are convenient but could use more attention to being stocked more thoroughly. Food is excellent lets not forget that. Take it to go if your not set on dining in.

Best Tijuana Flats experience ever. One young lady saw me getting out of my car with crutches and rushed over to open the door and get my wife and I seated. She then took our orders as if we were in a full serve restaurant. The other young lady was working through the restaurant seemingly covering all tables needs single handedly. I was so impressed by these two girls that I asked to speak to the manager, who introduced himself as Joshua. I offered praise for the two girls, which they earned, and told him that the carnitas burrito I was served was one of the best Ive ever had. Keep in mind that I have lived in Arizona, California and New Mexico, and Tijuana Flats is a Florida based chain. I was impressed.

My family and I come in here often for lunch. I cant say enough about how great the staff is. Truly top notch service! We have never had a problem with the food. I personally like to add a tip to the bill because the staff works hard to make sure your taken care of. Is it table side restaurant service you receive at a sit down place? No, but they come refill your drinks, take your trash, and get anything else you need. They also bring the food out. Although some others reviewing wont admit it, this is a level of service beyond what you receive at McDonalds and they should be compensated for that.

Always fresh and Fast! The Tijuana Flats chain is great, and this location is one of the best. The food is very tasty - every time. The specials that are offered on certain weekdays are consistently good as well. They dont cut corners because of the sale price. The chain offers a "Hot Bar" which has all different flavors of sauces ranging from sweet and tangy to "Whoa! That was Hot!" The service is great as well, the food comes out fast and the servers are always on top of your drinks and other needs. Overall, this is one of my favorite places to dine!

I happened to be helped by apparently the supervisor by the first name of Tiffany. I arrived approximately 25 minutes from closing time and I was simply blown away. Tiffany was very professional, pleasant and energetic. She glowed and as a customer who had not been here for a while Im glad to say that she convinced me to come back sooner than later. Ofcourse I enjoyed the meal but the service was perfect. Anyone who has her working her district and that works with her in the store has a dynamic leader. Take notes.
