Was told I needed both front brake calipers replaced because it was causing my rotors to be ground down. I did not need either replaced. I am sure. I changed the brake pads and rotor (no calipers replaced) and the car works great. Midas Quoted price for single caliper(not including labor) was $198. The part can be bought at auto zone for $70. Pretty steep mark up. Was told I needed both rear brake pads and rotors replaced. Its arguable whether I needed pads replaced, but not absolutely necessary and definitely did not need rear rotors. Midas quoted price for rotors was again steeply marked up. On top of this I clearly needed rear axle seal replaced (I had copius oil leaking all over the brake and wheel) and after inspection they didnt even mention it. I assume because it takes about 2 hours of labor to replace rear axle seal, but why bother with that when you can change rotors, pads, and calipers in under an hour and charge insane prices for the parts/work. Either they didnt want to bother with the extra time to repair axle seal or they are completely incompetent in their inspection-which is even more concerning. In fact, the man running things there pointed out the oil build up on my brakes and said "see, you need new rotors and pads." He never mentioned the axle seal. The oil had nothing to do with the brakes themselves. The man showed me a paper quote for $1400. Then told me I would need to leave my car there overnight because he didnt have the necessary parts. When I told him I couldnt because I needed to drive to work in few hours, he told me to "rent a car from enterprise next door, its only 30 bucks." He said he was worried my brake pads "might fall out while driving" and that it wasnt safe to continue driving with my brakes in that condition- WRONG. I told him I had to drive to work and would not leave my car there to be fixed. He quickly got pissy, crumpled up the receipt and threw it out. Probably fearing that if I showed that paper containing price estimate to anyone who knew a thing about cars they would tell me I was getting hustled, because I was. Then he said "OK well put it(my car) all back together and take it down." That childish guilt trip was laughable because all they had done was lift it up and take the wheels off. I ended up getting necessary rear axle seal replaced, necessary single front rotor and both front pads replaced (parts and labor) for about $350. Car now runs and brakes like a dream. Sure glad I didnt get bullied into a $1400 unnecessary, outrageously priced brake tune up. This place is dishonest. If you do not know much about your vehicle they are going to say that you need things fixed that dont need to be, charge you way too much for the service, and possibly completely miss problems that your vehicle actually has during inspection. Oh yea and they may try to bully/guilt trip you. I Feel bad for all the older folks that dont use the internet/read reviews and are naïve and trusting when their auto mechanic tells them they need certain things fixed, because if you are one of these people and you go to this Midas. They are going to rip you off.

It isnt free! Midas advertised "If the engine light comes on stop by, well check it for free." They charged me $99.10 to check the engine light. On 4/13/13 I took my car to Midas, Pembroke Pines. I pulled in front of the business; I never even pulled into the bay. The guy looked inside the car, saw that the engine light was on, and asked me if I wanted him to check it with the computer. I said yes. He brought the computer out, hooked it up to the car, told me my gas cap wasnt on tight enough, and charged me $89.99 for the service, + $3.50 shop supply, + tax-a total of $99.10. I said, I thought it was free. He said looking inside the car and saying that the light was on was free. Hooking it up to the computer was not. At no time did he tell me he was going to charge me. He did not present me with a written or oral estimate. He did not perform any other service or test. I watched him the entire time. The service took less than 5 minutes. Bottom line--He took advantage of me. As a senior on a fixed income, I want to make sure this doesnt happen to any one else. As an update--the owner of the shop called me in response to this complaint, and blamed the situation on corporate--which means the situation remains the same. He did give me a store credit, but with how I feel about the way I was treated, I wont be using it. He wanted a better rating in exchange for the credit, but I cant in good conscience recommend anyone go to Midas for a free engine check. Y? Because it isnt free!!! Still, it was nice that he tried, and he was very nice on the phone. So nothing personal against him.

I just stop at this branch to do a Uber inspection, but they didnt passed it because the believe my car need new breaks and want to charge $140 to do it right otherwise I will need to return and pay again for inspection. When I request to see the breaks because I bought last year the ones with lie time warranty, they show me just one, and its look like doesnt need to be change yet but first they said Uber requires a breaks with more the 50% of usage and when I request to see the Uber requirement A.J (identify himself as a manager, when I requested talked to one) then he said its not Uber requirements its his opinion a "professional certified" so if I want to pass, I need to pay him $140 because he thinks so.... very unprofessional! Instead to approach my complain providing a good customer service, he said he has a license and I am not... not the response I was expecting from this company! I had unsatisfactory conversation with this people, bad customer service and very unprofessional! I saw how they did this to 2 others people, they want to make money out of this inspections!!! This is not right! So if i dont want to do it with them I just need to come again and pay the full price inspection. Really how can AJ be the manager and doesnt have any type of customer care skills?????

I told my mother to take her car (a Honda Civic) for an oil change, since it was already due. She took it to the Midas at Pembroke Rd. and Flamingo, and spoke to this guy named Carlos. They did change the oil but my mother ended up paying $157,30. They explained to her that the car needed a special oil since the odometer was about to turn 100K miles, and that they had to flush the engine in order to do that. Off course this was totally unnecessary. Then I went to talk personally with them and never could get any refund. They told me that it is not their fault that my 67 years old mother didnt know exactly what her car needed, and that it was their duty to offer her those services. Unfortunately she was never told how much the final bill was going to be until the service was already completed. Funny thing is that days later I went to a store nearby and coincidentally there was a couple of people talking about another incident they had at the same place. One of them told me that this Midas location is very well know for overcharging people, specially older people that lives around, and that everyone is well aware of the poor service they offer. I just happened to catch that information a little late. Well im sure they wont do it again with me.
