Very unhelpful. I am a potential Sarasota, FL resident who is looking to move to the area with my elderly and disabled father who has end stage kidney disease. We are currently living in southern Mississippi, but have made multiple trips to Sarasota, and have even submitted active rental applications in the area. The sticking point is that I need to get a job in the area to show on the rental application. I am a young (28), healthy, hard worker with extensive work experience both in field work, industry, and clerical work. I need a job opportunity in the area in order to get my dad and I an apartment in the area. I was told that unless I was physically in the area right now there would be no possibility of getting a job. My question is, how can there be new people coming into the area and into the job work force from other places if they need to already be living there? It goes without saying that to rent even the most basic apartment I need to be employed. But now Spherion says I need to be a resident to even get a job. I asked how new people got to the area and got established, and was told that people move in with relatives in Sarasota, and then gain employment. I wish I would have followed up with the question of what if I dont have a relative living in the area? I dont see how ALL job opportunities would bar new and promising out-of-town residents from their open positions. If this is the case I would assume there wouldnt be much economic growth in such an area.
