This is one of those instances you think only happens in the movies. My significant other and I had signed up for gym memberships and personal trainers through LA Fitness. When we signed up, we thought we were signing up for a month by month basis. It was never explained to us by either the Sales Rep or the Sales Manager who was called over to offer us a better deal we were signing up for a 12 month program. 13 days into our program, and two training sessions later, the unimaginable happened: We lost our jobs. No income. Both laid off. Working for the entertainment industry, I knew I could find a new job within a few weeks. However, my partners industry isnt as forgiving. We pleaded with the gym to cancel and reimburse at least a portion of the sign up fees, and the Sales Manager insisted there was nothing he could do. If we wanted to opt out, we would need to BUY out. Paying for half of the unused training sessions for the YEAR. Well over $1,500, just to cancel, on top of the $700+ we had just spent signing up. We werent pleased with his answer, and we asked for a customer service number. He was unwilling to provide us a number. Not just unwilling, he blatantly refused us. He went as far as saying there was NO Corporate number. Then he told us there wasnt anything THEY could do for us anyways. The way we were treated by this supposed Manager was unacceptable. We had to look up a corporate number to call seeing the Sales Manager at our gym was refusing to be of any help. We called and called, and no one offered a single solution saying, "Well, you signed a contract. Sorry," as if these people had never heard of an Extenuating Circumstance. We were finally put on the line with an Avalon, saying theyll look into our account and get back to us. Its been two weeks, without a single call from corporate besides the billing department telling us they cannot bill us. What a shame! I decided to call myself, pleading with the customer service reps that if we do not receive some sort of refund, well not only default on our payments to LA Fitness, but well lose the roof over our heads as well. Of which, the reps reply was "Its not LA Fitness putting you on the street," as if that was some sort of consolation. 72 hours over a grace period, and LA Fitness refuses to help. What was offered, we would have our memberships cancelled and no further billing department calls would occur. We spent over 700 dollars on training sessions and memberships, of which, we used 2 hours of training each, and 5 entries into the gym. We had signed up for 8 one hour sessions a month total. Basically, we only used half of our months training sessions, and are now being told we will not be reimbursed for the remaining half due to contractual obligations, simply being 72 hours over our grace period. The unwillingness to help someone in need. The awful treatment we received from the Sales Manager at the gym here on State Road 436, Winter Park, FL. The ineptitude of the customer service department. All prime reasons to NEVER sign up with LA Fitness. Who wants to go to a gym where youre viewed as a dollar sign rather than a human being? Because thats how LA Fitness views its clientele.

THE WORST LA FITNESS IN CENTRAL FLORIDA !!!!!!!!!! PLEASE READ !!! THE POOR STAFF THE CLEANS THE FACILITY ARE UNDERSTAFFED AND THEY WORK SO HARD TO KEEP THE FACILITY CLEAN. THE GUY THAT MAKES THE SMOOTHIE DOESNT EVEN WASH HIS HANDS WHEN HE PREPARES YOUR SMOOTHIE, OR WIPE THE COUNTER AFTER HES FINISHED HE RINSES THE BLENDER WITH WATER AND NO SOAP AND THEN MAKES YOUR SMOOTHIE ! THE EQUIPMENT IS OLDER AND THE CARPET SMELLS SO SWEATY AND YOU HAVE TO WHIP DOWN THE EQUIPMENT WHEN WORKING OUT , IF NOT THE MATS ESPECIALLY BY THE ABS ARE BLACK ONCE YOU WHIP WITH THE PAPER TOWEL. THE FRONT STAFF SPECIALLY THE SALES MANAGER JUNIOR AND CALVIN ARE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL , YOU HAVE CALVIN APPROACHING GUEST ABOUT MATTERS OF THE GYM UNIFORMED(IN A TANK TOP !) , ACCUSING MEMBERS OF FRIVOLOUS ALLEGATIONS. HE THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE SAYING MY COUSIN IS TRESPASSING WHILE HE HAS A LA FITNESS MEMBERSHIP AND THE SALES MANAGER JUNIOR PIERRE LAUGHING IN YOUR FACE AT SERIOUS SITUATIONS SAYING TO LOWER YOUR VOICE ! I COULDNT BELIEVE THE DISRESPECT AND DISCRIMINATION I FELT HERE ! IM SCARED FOR MY SAFETY AT THIS GYM ! PLEASE BEWARE OF THE BATHROOM A ROACH CRAWLED OUT OF THE DRAIN AND ON MY LEG WHILE I WAS TAKING A SHOWER, AFTER I WAS CHANGING I SAW ANOTHER ROACH IN THE BATHROOM, THE BATHROOM NEEDS TO SEE A PEST CONTROL SPECIALIST IMMEDIATELY ! THE CLASSES AT THE GYM WERE GREAT , BUT THE MANAGEMENT MAKING YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE BECAUSE YOU DONT WANT TO PURCHASE THERE PERSONAL TRAINING ASKING QUESTIONS LIKE DID YOU FALL OFF FROM YOUR FITNESS OR DID YOU HAVE A BABY ? ! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND SEE THE LA FITNESS AT LEE RD.

SCAM !!! SCAM !!! SCAM !!! SCAM !!! CHECK YOUR CONTRACTS !!! DONT SIGN UP OVER THE PHONE !!! YOUR TRESPASSING IF YOU ASK FOR RECEIPTS !!! This facility is pretty shady. I was looking for a gym with a sauna because I find comfort in working out and then sitting in a sauna. I chose to sign up with this location because it was close to my school, despite the bad reviews I seen online. I called cancelled my contract with them 2 months ago because my apartment complex has a pretty advance gym, I wouldnt need the services any more, and because they continued to give me miss information. I never received a written copy of my contract because I signed up over the phone and when I brought my boyfriend there they were trying to charge me $15 dollars a day for a visitors pass. No one informed me that I needed to put him on some type of favorites list for him to get the 7 day free pass. My account was still charged 3 times last week even though I spoke to someone back in April about canceling the services. No one yet has told me that I needed to go into the facility to cancel the contract. When I got there today, Robert a staff member called the police because I asked for a receipt or proof of the refund. I also asked another member if he knew how to cancel and he admitted he didnt after Robert accosted me and suggested I was lying when I told him I was never given that information. All in all, he refused to give me a receipt called the cops; I called corporate and a receipt was given to me. THE HASSLE ISNT WORTH! 24 HOUR FITNESS IS OPEN ALL THE TIME AND HAS GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I read a few of the reviews and they seem to be over the people that work there. Honestly since I signed up I havent dealt with much of the staff except for the ladies at the kids club who have always been warm and friendly to my daughter and I. Any place you sign up for you should always read what youre agreeing to I think thats just common sense. But anyway Im here to talk about the facilities. I usually go in the morning, early afternoon, or late night because it starts to get crowded after 3 till about 8 or 9. The keep the place fairly clean, I still wipe down anything before I touch it but thats just how I am. They have plenty of equipment to choose from, 4 raquettball courts, a big pool, hot tub, saunas, big locker rooms, baskettball/volleyball court, and a ton of classes you can sign up for. Me personally I just do cardio and use the weights, I did a ton of reasearch and got a good deal on my membership so I feel like Im getting more than what I pay for especially considering the childcare...no I wont tell you how much I pay I feel that would be unscrupulous, just do your research and dont be afraid to haggle. Im not in the gym to make friends with staff or clients Im in there to do work and get out so maybe my review is skewed.
