*****NO STARS***** This place isnt worth 1 star, forced to select that. I read each negative review and decided to give this salon a try because its around the corner from my house. When I walked through the door I was the only patron there on a Thursday afternoon (3/13/14). Everyone was correct regarding the poor customer service, the stylist didnt greet me with a "Hello, How may I help you? or cared to ask "How is your day?" She only asked what I wanted and if my hair extensions were real or not. She then proceeds to walk over to the Shampoo Bowl and doesnt say anything to follow her or walk with me. I stood there for 2 minutes waiting for her to say something. Then she starts to wash my hair, I told her I wanted a deep conditioner and added $10 extra. She taps me on my shoulder as a form of communication to signal me to follow her to the hair dryer. I was under there for roughly 5 minutes and thought to myself "Thats the quickest deep conditioner treatment Ive ever received. Dont waste your time going here, the Stylist Massiel burned my scalp numerous times and I told her repeatedly, "You are burning me!" Ive been to other Dominican Salons and was never BURNED doing a blow out. In addition my hair had a burning smell to it once I left. Also.. she cant style African American hair. I looked like a Poodle when she finished styling me. I wasted my time and money going to this location.

Im glad to know that Im not the only one whos had a bad exprience at this salon. I had never been to a dominican hair salon and was excited because they were not far from home. The first time I went, I asked them the price for a shampoo and straighten. I was okay with the quote and proceeded to let them do my hair. Then they told me they couldnt do my hair without me sitting under the dryer with rollers (which does nothing for my hair because I dont have a relaxer). Next, they where trying to get me to do all this other stuff which I refused. Long story short, when I got to the register they where trying to make me pay more because "my hair was longer then they thought" (mind you, I was there when they gave me the quote) and I felt like they were trying to scam me. Not to mention, When I left, I didnt have a hair style, it would hurt just to touch my scalp and my head was sore for almost a week. I had to go there again out of desperation because my hair dressers son was in a car accident. This time I told them how they needed to do my hair. They told me I could be out in an hour and gave me a price. Needless to say, I was not out in an hour and this time I actually did end up paying more. The people are rude and insensitive. As a result, I have stayed away from Dominican Hair Salons because this one has given me a bad experience.

One star for the end result of my hair. I have very thick natural curly african american hair. I only get my hair straightened once per year (typically, I do it myself.) This time I wanted to be pampered. I read the poor reviews and even called the salon to let them know I was thinking of coming but knew about how poor their customer service was. I only went because I needed a salon late Sat. evening. I came in spoke, and barely got a response. They ignored me the entire time while getting my hair done. I brought my own shampoo and conditioner, and the lady doing my hair combed my hair so hard, I was ready to get up and leave. I told her to take it easy. Her response was you have very tangled hair. I paid for deep conditioner and after only being under the dryer for 5 mins. they wanted me to get in the shampoo chair again. I told her, No. I wanted at least 15 mins. While in the blow out chair, I told the same rude stylist to only blow dry my roots, and she spoke in Spanish in a rude tone and said, you already told me that! The experience of having beautiful hair wasn t worth the horrible customer service. Take your money and business some other place. I will not be returning.

This was my first visit and my last. As I watched every customer before me look the same, hairstyle, I wondered if I should get up and leave. The price was the same as quoted over the phone so that was ok. Just as I thought, I looked the exact same as the others. I tried to tell my stylist what I wanted and she agreed but she was so busy talking to the other stylist I think she could have cared less about my request. They take each customer back as if robots on an assembly line. No warm welcomes as you enter nor do you feel like they want you here during the whole visit. I tried to smile at one stylist and she smirked but continued to speak Spanish and giggle with the other stylists. I went to a beauty store right after to pick up a few items and the cashiers were asking each other if they smelled something burning. Of course, I spoke up and mentioned I just left a Dominican Salon, and I apologized for the smell. Yes, I am natural and would like to use a Dominican salon, only as back up. Thank God, I actually have a stylist.

Ladies, these women dont do hair as well as the women at DOMINICAN SUGAR located about 11 minutes farther down hwy 124. AND the women in Massiels, ESPECIALLY Massiel are extremely rude with bad attitudes. Little did they know, I am hispanic (I look straight up black) so I knew everything they were saying, I just acted like I didnt understand their accents. A poor lady had to get out of there for a funeral and apparently they were taking much longer than she expected so she let someone in there know, who in turn told Massiel - and Massiel started talking about how she didnt care and was mouthing off - about the client! Once one young lady was done in there, she went up front to pay, and the stylists called her hair ugly (in spanish of course) so her stylist called her back to the chair for an unexpected "trim" to her ends, looked more like a CUT to me! Rude rude RUDE women in there, I suggest you go some place else. Not to mention I wasnt impressed with my hair after how long it took...goodness!!!

Theirs was my first and last experience with a Dominican Salon. I went on a Saturday morning and ended up beating the employees there. These people do NOT know how to style black hair in its natural state. I should have walked out as soon as the stylist tried to comb my hair while it was dry, using a fine toothed comb, from the root! They will roll your hair, sit you under the dryer, blow dry it, THEN use a flat iron. Some may need all the heat, but my hair doesnt require all of that to be bone straight. A skilled stylist would have recognized that. Even more frustrating, the hair didnt even hold the style. It reverted in a weeks time. Definitely not worth the money and heat torture.
