Ive eaten here for years, and couldnt be happier that Chef Dustin decided to stay in Nampa. Ill start with the space, and then on to staff and food. The eatery is located on the lower level of Nampas renovated historic Masonic Temple building. The restaurant decor is urban industrial chic (?), a bar with limited seating, several pub height tables, booth seating and traditional tables/chairs that can be re-arranged to accommodate group size. Private room/rooms available for larger parties, meetings, etc. Its modern, upbeat, but also soothing. Soon, the restaurant will move to the newly constructed 3rd floor (cant wait to see it!), which in that part of Nampa, will offer some unobstructed views. Dustin Bristol, in addition to being a very talented chef, is a wonderful person. He and his wife are so easy to talk to, and often stop by tables to chat with diners. He is committed to his customers, the community and very obviously, his staff. I havent seen much change-over in staff, and that speaks volumes. They are professional, so genuinely personable and reflect a restaurant philosophy (in my estimation) that is based on respect for fellow human beings. I cant name everyone, even though many faces pop through my mind as I write this, but two names are always there: Cheri, who is always a bright personality to greet you, and although I dont know her official title, she seems to keep everything running smoothly and I suspect is one of Chef Dustins core managers. My elderly Mom and I eat there as often as we can, and we just love her. The second name is Ray Ray (sp?). He is a superb waiter, a kind and wonderful person and just a joy to be around. I believe hes another of the Chefs core group. Hes beginning to feel like family :) Recently, we had a family dinner there in celebration of my Moms 87th birthday, and the staff embraced her in such kindness and generosity! The food really is "comfort food re-invented". Great food, with locally sourced ingredients, artfully presented with Dustins interpretation of dishes that we love. A simple example is the seasonal Pumpkin Bisque; most of us wait for it each year with the enthusiasm of kids waiting for Christmas! Simple (ha) pumpkin soup...perfect texture, complex, yet subtle, flavors...a lovely drizzle of cream on top with a sprinkling of pepitas...yum! You cant go wrong with the tried and true menu items, but there are always spectacular specials to try, and I often find myself opting for a new flavor adventure. Some of these later become menu regulars. Ive tried so many kinds of fresh fish for the first time. The food is abundant and I usually take some home with me. New creations from the bar are a treat and desserts are also delish! 10 stars to Brick 29 Bistro!!!!!!

So, its 5 on Friday and I decide with no warning to take the fam out for a nice dinner. Not the BK Lounge or any number of pizza places, but somewhere with good service, great food and AC. After a quick Google search of the west end of the valley We found Brick 29 Bistro in Nampa. We walk in at 6:03pm and are greeted and asked if we have reservations. "No" I replied. "Do we need them if we want to eat here tonight?" Then the hostess said "Actually, there is a waiting list, but it will be 45-60 minutes. Is that OK?" "Sure." So, we sat down and waited. Did I mention we have a 3 & 5 year old? Ha ha! Lucky for us our 16 year old likes to walk around outside with the younger two. Lol Anyway, I find out, 30 minutes later as we are being seated in a private room that they were completely booked. Duh! Friday night. However, they made room for us anyway. Already impressed and grateful, we sit down and meet our server Amanda B. Cheerful and ready to deliver she gets our drink order and gives us the specials. At this point, I have to say that if you have not been, you must know, this isnt your regular franchise all you can eat appetizers and burgers joint. Honestly, I felt underdressed because of how perfectly delightful the menu read. I reached a whole new plane of hungry! Wagyu beef brisket, Swordfish with coconut rice, Hawaiian halibut... I could hardly wait! Seriously, words cannot describe how wonderful our meal was. Quick side note for those of you thinking that so far this sounds expensive for a family night out. Nope. Kids were $4 each and everything else was very reasonably priced. The service, atmosphere and surely the quality of the food were tremendous! The thought had occurred to me when we were first seated that being seated in a private room we would probably have empty cups for most of the meal and be starving for attention from any and all of the wait staff. Nope. Amanda B, another gal and even Keela (owner) made sure that at no point were our glasses empty or were we wanting for any more attention. THANK YOU! Owning a service company I am constantly seeking great customer service and a quality product. I HIGHLY recommend you make reservations for your next night out! Thanks again Amanda B! Well be back for desert!

I visited here for the Easter brunch buffet, and that is easily the best Easter brunch that I have ever had. The selection was wide, from waffles to fresh salmon to spicy bacon to salads. There were also 3 chocolate fountains to dip all the deserts in. (Protip - the amazing bacon is even more amazing dipped in chocolate.) The service was top-rate, with a friendly waiter and constant attention even with the restaurant being packed. They have more than enough workers to attend to everything quickly which is nice. And the price cant be beat. Far and away the best cuisine in town, you would expect it to be quite pricy, but it was only $20 per person even on a holiday. You cant beat that price for oysters, salmon, shrimp, pork, and three whole plates of breakfast food plus dessert. Its best to get a reservation well in advance, or else you may end up waiting upwards of an hour for a table, but even then it is well worth the wait. I will be stopping back here anytime I am in the neighborhood.

Service was HORRIBLE! We waited at our table for 10-15 min. before anyone acknowledged us. Had to track someone down to get a kids menu. After finally getting our drinks, we had to waive someone down (not our waiter/bar tender) to get a basket of bread. Our first time there so I asked the waiter what he recommended and he just started rattling items off the menu like I hadnt read it? I asked how the fish was cooked and he had a look of bewilderment and said "of course we cook the fish" Waited forever to get our food, waiter never offered to refill the drinks. My fish was good but my husbands steak was served bloody rare and had to be sent back. Never saw waiter until we complained and the manager was notified. She took my comments like she could care less and offered us free deserts as to just appease me. I was not impressed with their desert menu. The high prices and the horrible service we will not go back. If you want wonderful food at good price try the All American Cafe in Middleton.
