Ive been coming to this gym ever since it was Power house back in the late 90s. I went away for several years and found myself back here and other than the name it hasnt changed much at all ... Thats not saying much. I dont need a swimming pool or a basketball court or the latest machines, but I would think after at least a decades worth of business X-sports top brass would expand this location just a bit. Theyve done some minor improvements as far as cardio and machinery go, but its getting way to crowded with machinery alone and membership has definitely risen over the years. Thats a plus on marketing and membership attainment but geez open up some room and gain some much needed credibility, especially with your members whove been terribly loyal over the years. Its especially crowded every year just before summer hits with plenty of new members who will likely be gone once summer is done and over. The staff is incredibly dull and ignorant to all members w/o a personal trainer membership; in over 10 yrs of experience there Ive only acquainted myself with one staff member and thats only bc we shared common interest in boxing ... Yes they at least have a boxing bag located in a very tiny corner in the back of the gym. Other than the obligatory "hello" when you enter, which often times doesnt happen either, the staff are about as attentive as a fat kid is towards a slimfast drink. Yea this is a gym, but its very much a customer service oriented business. I work in the same field and Ive got to say that customer service is definitely not a focus here. To summarize: Good place to work out especially if you focus on weight lifting and if youre a meat head looking for other meat heads to motivate each other on being meat heads. (Umm theres definitely a steroid groupy here, or DANG theyre all genetically supreme humanoids!). Very affordable prices, and does the minimum job to help get fit ... Bad place if youre accustomed to a luxurios "lifetime fitness" feel. Very small and packed, lacks amenities such as multiple water fountains (ONE! COUNT THEM ONE FRIKKIN FOUNTAIN!) and spacious bathrooms. No Sauna, steamroom, bball court, pool, etc frikkin etc... Very bad, insanely terrible customer service

I visited this gym and had a horrible experience. After a seemingly normal tour of the gym, and when I was ready to just work out, they sat me down to look at my "fitness profile." They tested my body fat percentage, which was 21%. The manager of the gym proceeded to input that information into the computer which then decided that my goal weight should be 101 pounds (Im 112 currently, at 52"). The computer also stated that my body fat percentage should be 11%. I challenged him on this point, because I was pretty sure that was unhealthy for a woman, and he told it was just fine. I indicated that I was uncomfortable with him telling me to lose weight (especially because I had told him I was there for weight maintenance) but the damage was done. No matter how many times I told him Im in graduate school and cannot afford personal training, he tried relentlessly to talk me into it. The offers, in my opinion, felt manipulative and forceful. After I left, I received repeated phone calls from the manager over the course of two months. When I finally answered so that I could explain to him that I had spoken to a masters level licensed clinical exercise physiologist who told me that 21% body fat is at the low end of healthy for a woman, he challenged me and said he had research to support his numbers. Personally, Im taking the advice of the person with more education. I told him I joined the YMCA, so hopefully no more phone calls. Especially if you are a woman, avoid this gym. You do not need a gym that promotes this type of irresponsible weight loss, and that has this little understanding of how to treat and talk to women.

Manager Dimitri was EXTREMELY rude to me. I was a member of your gym eight years ago. So I decided to sign up for a free week to consider maybe coming back to xsport. I came in last week and asked a girl at the front desk do I need to sign in and she said "no youre fine, you can just work out." Today I did the same thing but with a different gentleman and he directed me to Dimitri who then asked for my identification and said "you cant use your free guest pass because you were a member in 2009." That took me by surprise, but I said ok and decided to call corporate on my way back to the car. I spoke with Mike, who allowed me to work out for 3 days instead of seven, which I appreciated because thats how you keep business. Dimitri I guess did not like that and proceeded to say "I wont ALLOW that, you can have one day!" Very rude and aggressive, condescending to say the least. From there it went all wrong he continued to be unsympathetic, unprofessional, and rude. I told him he was acting "disgusting and needs to take a business management class," its not what you say, but how you say it. If Dimitri wouldve said "Im so sorry mam, unfortunately I cannot give you a week free, but I can show you around the gym and tell you about some specials we have going on," I wouldve understood but the terminology this YOUNG man used was in a very negative, careless tone. Xsport you will not be successful in doing business with people such as Dimitri on the team without proper training and people skills. Especially at a location like Arlington heights with outdated equipment. God Bless.

This place is getting worse by the day. They tell members that they can bring a guest with them every time. Now all of a sudden they ask for the guests ID to be held by them while you are training. They claim its a liability issue. Well ask the people to sign liability release. Thats not enough but the IDs are kept on the counter where anybody can walk by and steal one or take a picture of them and steal peoples personal information. They claim its a rule from "corporate". Well I called the customer service and there is no such rule. The rule is you need to just show them your ID and sign in on your way in. As a matter of fact "corporate" called them to confront them on the issue. Notes in the customer service system are showing they spoke to the General Manager - Andrew who told them that if someone has an problem they should talk to him. Well I tried talking to him and the response I got from him was "You dont tell me how to run my business! If you dont like it go somewhere else." The guy is just extremely rude and has a serious case of a*hole attitude. So stay away from this place.

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH XSPORT for the following reasons: 1. Pushy.. they dont care about you, they are all sales focused. They will not take no for an answer.. and once you sign up for something you cannot get out of it. 2. Liars . they will tell you anything to get you to sign up for training sessions or a membership BUT they will never EVER tell you full detail... I signed up for xpress membership where I get to go to multiple locations and bring a guest.. but when i brought my guest they told my guest that they have to pay annual fee just to be a guest and Im like, uh isnt that why I pay $20 a month? and they guy was like... uh yeah but you can only bring a guest at your home location..sooo bs. 3. Dirty - the gym is nothing fancy for an express gym, i get that, but at least dust off the equipment and clean the carpets once in a while! Not everyone at xsport are awful, but if i had to rate my 4 month experience, it would deff be below average. I would rather go to my local rec center! HA! and this gym WISHES those photos were for this location! ... lies again.
