Many letters went to this post office and mysteriously vanished, to never be seen again. Most of the letters were from woman. As the mysterious letter vanishings grew in number, people began to notice, prompting an investigation. This investigation took the investigator to the basement, where they discovered a secret room and a dead letter bin. In the bin were up to two hundred dead letters, some of them managed and decompose beyond recognition. "It was a most gruesome scene Ive ever saw" said an unidentified investigator. "In the bin were letters that appeared to be chopped up. There was ink everywhere, some of it still wet from recent victims. Who ever did this is one sick (explicative omitted) and must be caught.

The man who became infamous as H.H. Holmes, one of the first serial killers in the United States, preyed mainly on naive and gullible women -- young women who wouldnt be missed amid the thousands of Worlds Fair tourists streaming into Chicagos fashionable Englewood neighborhood in 1893. After arriving in Chicago in the late 1880s, he built what became known as his Murder Castle at 63rd and Wallace streets and proceeded to murder, swindle, lie, steal and cheat, all under the facade of upper-class respectability as the friendly neighborhood druggist and businessman. The Hotel is now the ENGLEWOOD POST OFFICE. Spooky.

My mail was placed in the wrong mail box, several times, even though the boxes are clearly labeled. Tracking numbers say my package was delivered to unit, but never was. Packages left on porch so thieves can steal them, and no notices to indicate delivery attempt or request for package pick-up! Absolutely the worst post office in America!!!!

This place is unusually cold, Ive felt fingers on me, and a womans voice saying "Excuse me..." as if to get by--and nobody is there. I go here just for the experience. Also to get stamps on occasion. Update: I just found out this used to be the place where H.H. Holmes committed his murders of women during the 1893 Worlds Fair.

Extremely Poor Customer Service, every time Ive gone here service was slow. Only have 1 window open at all times even though there are two. My last visit the clerk announced she was on a 15 minute break, but did not have someone else come up to serve those in line.

Anyone who visits or works for this post office should really take the time to learn about this addresss history. Id assume that most people have no idea what happened on this property about 120 years ago.
