Everyone here seems really nice. My kids like the swim lessons and are learning. However, I just cant get over how dirty it is. The locker room sinks are festering with mold. There is very poor ventilation so you just feel like you are breathing in germs. My other concern is the daycare. I havent yet dropped my kids off there, so I cant give personal experience reviews, however I have been observing it for a few weeks as we go to swimming. It is very small, and the staff working it look like they are serving prison sentences. The children there looked completely bored. But most telling is that my own kids have asked me to please not send them there because "everyone looks so sad." So I have to work out in the very limited time that I have to myself during the day and am unable to take advantage of the whole reason we got a family membership. My advice to the Y is to clean up the locker rooms and spruce up the morale in the daycare, then you would be top notch.

I have been a member for the past 2 years primarily for the children and family programs. I thought that was the main goal of the YMCA is to support families. Unfortunately,I have found out that managment has their own agenda and does not really care about the children. They make last minute changes, cancel classes and do not hire the best people to support growing children. The morale at the Y is very low and management does not concerned about how to make meaningful changes. In additinon they do not return calls, emails and refuse to listen to ideas that could greatly improve these serivces. What started out to be wonderful has turned into a nightmare. The children are hurt as a result.

Been a member for a year. Place was ok but my lock was cut off and contents of locker was stolen. It can happen anywhere but the staff at the Y did nothing to even look for the guy. After 3 days the report was sitting on the persons desk and hadnt been looked at. The staff at the Y does nothing to prevent theft if it happens. It can happen anywhere but if it happens here its a given that they wont even bother to see what happened.

Another great YMCA facility housed in a unique, older building in the city. It may take a few times to get comfortable finding your way to different areas, but that is part of the fun. Saras NIA class is a shining example of how fun and creative the workout can be, providing a unique way to exercise body, mind and spirit (and her special Halloween-edition class succeeded in reminding me how Id felt about the holiday as a kid)!

Sucks now, used to be the place to go for old fashioned workout, and to be around older more experienced staff. The track is not considered posh enough to remain open, the environment is that of a daycare/nursery school, and nobody seems to know anything but to answer questions with another question. Sadly enough, this place is in the early stages of just another wealth club. Go to other locations.

The Chicago Metro YMCA is dismantling the maintenance department at the Lakeview YMCA, putting in jeporady the jobs of staff members who have been loyal to LV for years. It is a continuation of how poorly they treat their employees where line staff are undervalued and exmpt directors and Chicago Metro executives continue to line their pockets at the expense of those at the bottom of the pay scale.

Ive been a member of this YMCA branch for 18 years now and I have always been satisfied with the environment and programs offered. We started off by enrolling my sons in martial arts class, and we have been active members ever since. The staff is great, and the new additions to the facility have made it even better. We will be life time members and appreciate the community here.

reviewed 2 weeks ago If you like doing sports you will feel totally perfect there. They have a basketball court, a pool and a great many training items. Before you use them you can read what regions of your body will be trained. For volunteers, which applies to me, they offer a 10$ membership, which is good

It may be small because it is in the city. However, whatever it lacks in size it makes up in spirit. The staff is always friendly and greets you. There are always events and classes going on. Its like a small community within a building. Besides that, there is always a place available to workout.

Went for a couple months and it is the worst YMCA ive personally ever been to. The majority of the staff just sits there and does nothing. The workout areas are mediocre at best. The basketball court is a joke. A personal trainer there named Jeremy is not a very kind person to say the least.

Working for and at the YMCA has been a pleasant journey. Previously have worked with the YMCA within the Murfreesboro, Tennessee area and also enjoyed working there.
