This place is disgusting. Heres why: 1. They keep it hot. Steaming hot. Theyll tell you that theyre getting their air conditioner fixed. They say that month after month. You sweat just standing there; much less actually working out. 2. Lots of puke. This area had lots of dumb guys. Education statistics show that only 7% have any college at all. For some reason, these dumb, muscle-bound guys think its a good idea to have a big, full meal before a heavy workout. Result: they puke all over the place. Somehow, they never make the connection that if you work out on a full stomach, you’re likely to get sick. Watch out for people puking right on you. 3. The locker room is revolting. And, tiny. They actually made the locker rooms smaller when they remodeled about 10 years ago. Curiously, they’ve got several large rooms that’re completely unused. Youre pretty much going to be rubbing your skin against some other filthy, sweaty, hairy slob [who hasnt showered in months]. And, man, does the locker room reek. It reeks! Youll remember that smell for years. 4. Always crowded. When you get through jostling and tussling your way through the locker room, youll emerge to find most of the machines taken. Whichever machine you want, thats the one thatll be in use. Always crowded, whether you go morning, noon, or night. 5. Roid rage. As mentioned above, lots of massive, dumb guys use this place. Theyre also pissed and/or violent. Be prepared to defend yourself. 6. Guys just sitting around in the smelly locker room for no reason. 7. Theres some kind of mental asylum nearby, so you may run into fully hallucinating schizophrenics, talking gibberish to non-existent beings, gesturing bizarrely, etc.

Weve neglected to go to this LA Fitness for the past 2 years because of poor reviews. Let me tell you, if you are used to the "Lifestyle" of a Lifetime or a new LA Fitness, with the new locker rooms, the nice saunas, the brand new machines, new hexagon shaped plates (whoever invented those clearly has never deadlifted before), the raquetball/basketball/volleyball teams...you are going to most likely turn your nose up to this place. It hands down has the oldest equipment Ive ever seen in an LA Fitness. That being said, they dont even make half of those machines anymore and it couldnt be better for those who want a totally new/old school variety. The only people who are going to appreciate this kind of environment are people who go to a gym to sweat their asses off (yes, it is quite hot downstairs) and could care less for the bells and whistles. As for your lockers getting broken into, you have to remember that its a unmonitored public facility and yes, people are going to break into lockers now and again. There are signs posted in all LAs. It should be a no brainer. DO NOT leave valuables in your locker!!! Just dont do it. If someone wants to steal your clean post-workout clothes, then all the power to them. Dont give them the opportunity to steal something of value to you. To finish off, we met a couple of the staff, and the manager seemed like a really cool guy. Was he Mr. Smiley pants? No....But maybe if you get off your high horse judging people by first glance, youll realize just because someone doesnt have a fake permagrin when your royal ass walks in, doesnt mean that they are a mean person.

Extremely poor customer service. I am extremely disappointed in how untrustworthy they are. I had received a one week free trial offer in the mail so I thought I would go try it out. Out of trust and naiveness, I agreed to sign up for a promotional offer with one of their representatives. (When youre joining, they are are sweetest and most accommodating people). He told me that if I didnt feel like it would work out, I could call them back before three days and get a full refund. I ended up calling and canceling. The man I spoke to assured me account was cancelled and even gave me a 15 minute lecture about how I should care for my health, etc (they give everyone that talk when youre quitting). I looked for the refund on my credit card bill and it wasnt there so I called back again a week later, and the man told me it was being processed...still no show. So I called back this week, and the lady who picked up somehow knew my name and said there were no notes or indication of cancellation and that canceling over the phone isnt even possible. Are you kidding me?!?! Why would TWO of their representative tell me and assure me that cancellation was made and refund was on the way. Now I have a $90 charge and $30 per month charge that they refuse to refund for me. I dont want to bore you with all the details but please take my word for it. My family and I are long time residents of Norridge and we are all quitting LA Fitness and telling our friends and family to quit as well. Such customer service does not deserve genuine customers business.

The Management is horrible. I signed up with the general manager and he went above and beyond to get me started, about 5 months after I signed up I got a job offer out of state so I had to move. When first signed up he told me that I can just go in and cancel anytime if I needed to. I went in to cancel the membership July 10. The manager was present and told me that he would cancel the membership as soon as the system comes up because it was not working. I left thinking that everything was going to be taken care of and trusted his word ( I asked for a card and he said that look online for the number here so I was like ok that works). On July 12 I called to confirm and nothing was done, a message was left for him to call me back on July 13th as he was off the 12th. I received no call at all. I waited and called back on the 15 or 16 not to sure since I was traveling to my new home, and the manager surprisingly was not in the office until the 19th. This is the worst service I have ever had at a fitness place. I held an xsport membership and never had an issue but due to the limited parking I switched to La Fitness. I would give this place NEGATIVE STARS IF I COULD. I hope corporate looks in this because I want a resolution and I do not have time to go back and fourth with useless management.

Very poor management and unacceptable customer service. While at the gym my locker was open and all my belongings were dumped into a garbage bag. "The Manager" didnt do anything about it. He just let cleaning people to run the gym, When I asked the cleaning person why my locker was open, she responded: "because the 3 Spanish Ladies were complaining" - so I was discriminated because Im European. Manager new about it and have done nothing to prevent future discrimination. What he did, he asked the cleaning woman to buy me a new lock which I refuse take it. I agree with other members, the corporate office doesnt even care about our complains or reviews. Perhaps we all should go on their social media and post all the concerns to let all the world know their miserable reputation. Even though I visit this location once in the while due to convenience my rating is 0.
