Do not take your car here. My car died while idling so I had it towed to the nearest shop (Tuffy) simply out of convenience. SIX days after they got the car, they identified that it was a wiring issue, and for the small charge of **$500** they essentially replaced a few wires. At this point I was upset that I clearly got overcharged, but I couldnt even get the car off their lot so I was at their mercy. Paid them and went our separate ways. The following day, my car doesnt start again. FOUR days later (ten days altogether) they identify the issue as something completely different, and bring me a new charge of $250. When I tried to get refunded for the $500 I paid before, they claimed it was a coincidence that my car, that has never died before, died 18 hours after it left their shop, and that these current parts that now needed to be replaced must have failed in that 18 hour time span. I spoke to several other mechanics in the area and a personal friend whos a mechanic, all of which said that this was one of the most absurd claims theyd ever heard. I dont necessarily think these guys are scam artists, but theyre clearly not the best with cars, especially (from reading other reviews) with electrical issues. Avoid at all costs.

Wow, Tuffys really knows how to take care of there customers. I I was 8 hours away from home and made the made the mistake to go to Pep Boys with some minor brake maintenance and after 4 hours of waiting I left having an even bigger issue that before and of course it was going to cost hundreds of dollars. Long story short I took my car to Tuffys and they had my car in and out with in about an hour and ended up doing the exact same thing that the other auto repair shop did but this time they did it right. I was on the road in no time and the staff was so friendly. They are honest and straight forward. Whether you are from out of town or a local this is the place to go and they are open on Sundays!! Terrible service and shady business. I have been here twice, the first time they ripped me off and said they fixed my car but the problem came back right away. I went back for a refund and to try to have them properly fix it but the same problem came back, they didnt fix anything. I took my car to Pep Boys and got everything fixed properly for half the price. I went back for a flat tire to see what the estimate would be, and I wanted to go to other shops to get more estimates because it seemed too high. They got rid of my original tire so I could not take it to other shops for estimates. The staff is rude, unprofessional and always rips me off. Never go here you will end up getting ripped off and having to pay another mechanic to fix it. Not a trustworthy shop.

It started out well when I brought my car in to have them run a systems check on why my car was overheating. Great lobby area, almost concierge-level service provided by the desk guys but the estimate came back really pricey. They priced me about $900 for work and I got a second opinion after for $435. There is nothing wrong with that but the issue came after they gave me the estimate and I mentioned it was too high and I was going to look elsewhere...the guy literally started to pretend I wasnt there and had left...no wrap up statements, no see you next time, not another word until my car came out. It was really strange and they wont let you take the estimate with you. Be professional all the way through.

I took my car in there for the $17 oil change and mentioned to them to check a few things that hadnt been serviced in a while When I went to pick up the car, they told me I absolutely needed a whole slew of repairs Total cost: $800+ I paid for the oil change, left, and a few days later took the car to a friends mechanic. Guess what. NOTHING needed to be replaced. I didnt mention anything to my friends mechanic. Everything was fine. Its been three months now. No problems. These guys are TOTAL scam artists. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!

Who said you cant find an honest mechanic? Thats probably because you didnt come here! Theyve done nothing but good, quality repairs for me and the pricing is very fair - theyre not trying to rip you off like the others, or find something else wrong that wasnt there when you came in, just to get more money. That doesnt happen here. No more getting bent over by Sears and Firestone, Id rather get work done here and your car is ready when they say it will be ready, no bullshit here!

Excellent, quick and easy service. Had a flat tire in the rain and drove my car into the shop. The staff was precise, friendly, and turned around an otherwise miserable experience. The entire process took only ten minutes, and we didnt even have to leave the car. When I asked how much, they said it was all just a favor. I will be going back when I have any trouble with my car. Five stars. Great people and service.

The location is very easy for me, so I have taken my car into this shop on two different occasions. Both times they quoted me an excessive amount, and even had the gall to substantially mark up the parts (e.g. those rotors are $150 each, but other shops quoted $150 for the pair). Make sure you get a second bid before even thinking about getting work done here!

I paid $1,000 for new brakes. Everyone was nice, and I assumed that even if the price seemed a little high, I was helping a smaller business. However, when I later found out that I could have gotten the exact same repairs for $650, I felt completely taken advantage of. Make sure you get an estimate somewhere else before you commit!

As soon as I walked in the door, I felt so welcomed and comfortable. They took my car in right away and promptly repaired what was wrong. I will definitely be returning here for all my work as well as recommend this place to all my friends and coworkers. Such great people.

This is the third time Ive been to Tuffys for various car issues. They have always been prompt, professional, and friendly. Waiting room is clean and they charge a very reasonable price (one time did not charge me at all to fix a flat tire). I am now a customer for life!

They are very expensive, and the work they do it not that reliable or timely for that matter. I felt like they charged me for unneeded things in order to increase my costs. Chicago is a big city with many option for mechanics, there are many better options than Tuffys.

Tuffy did an excellent job diagnosing my vehicle and my check engine light. They found out that I did not need a cat, but instead needed an o2 sensor only. I was charged way less than the guy who wanted to sell me a cat and the car is working awesome now!
