Ive been going to this Car-X location for the past 8 years. I used to deal with the manager there named Chris and he was very nice and helpful, but I always felt a lack of appreciation for all the business I brought him. As of last year, however, they have become a franchise and the new owner/manager Joe has been just a breath of fresh air. Hes always very friendly and talkative with me. The new staff they have follow the same example. Tony and David are the new managers and they are always smiles and laughs. They really make me feel comfortable and they seem very trustworthy. Unlike most car repair places, this is the only one where instead of just telling me the problem, they show me! They will literally take you to your car and have you see what they see. They are very knowledgeable and explain everything in plain English for you. They are real car enthusiasts that have a genuine love for cars and it really shows when you hear them discussing the subject. They offer shuttle service if your car will be in for a while and are very courteous. I have four cars that I have maintained with them and so far, (knock on wood), everything has worked out well. I absolutely recommend Car-X Des Plaines for all of your auto repairs. Try to meet Joe if you visit, hell leave a very good impression on you for a long time.

11/3/12: Took my car for wheel balancing and learned of a bunch of things ailing my 2006 G6... Enough for me to have to save for the repairs. I was impressed with the very friendly, polite and inclusive evaluation of my car, but what was TRULY impressive for me was that a customer lady was comped for her service because "her day was ruined". Not sure what her issue was, but I have not seen such great customer service from a mechanic shop before. Update: After evaluating the cost of parts and labor needed, I realized the quote for repairs was inflated. I found all the parts for $500, then was quoted $130 for labor by another mechanic, add the wheel balancing & alignment, and the cost was almost half. Big difference from the $1,400 quoted at CarX. Not a complaint, but disappointed. Customer beware, and research.

Contacted them over a year ago with 4wd problems and a pending snowfall, not good for a snow plower. My "old" mechanic did not have time for me but Chris and his crew did. Got my Jeep up and running in no time. They have been my go to guys for all my vehicles now. They even work on my "snow plow". Been able to fix everything my wife and I break. Maybe they will work on my lawn mowers. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Thanks Chris, Sam , Rich, Mike & Dianna.

Found a screw in my tire. Took it here asked them to just remove the screw and patch it up. The man at the desk said he would need to see the screw so I showed him it outside he said the tire needs replacement. I took the car about 1 mile away to M & B Auto. They repaired the tire without needing to replace it. Needless to say it felt like Car-X was trying to scam me out of money for a whole new tire.

I called for estimate and the person who answered the phone said $100 for 1 tire without looking up anything. He said $100 even out the door. Unbelievable service...I called Discount Tire and their service was fantastic!!!

Hands down one of the most helpful places i have taken my car to. The staff here are experts at customer service, and they honestly care about you and your vehicle. I would recommend this place a thousand times over!
