Don’t believe the radio ads or hype and certainly do not be drawn into signing up with this gym if you drive by and happen to see their sign advertising a new members sale. It just isn’t worth it. Go with Lifetime Fitness 5 minutes away. They are a little more expensive but they don’t lock you into a silly contract. This gym isn’t spectacular at all. The upstairs workout area is small compared to Lifetime and the staff are more interested in flirting and chatting than helping a visitor who is clearly using a weight machine incorrectly. There is a spin room, a studio for their classes, basketball court, and pools. The locker rooms have a steam room and sauna. You know who else has all of that but doesn’t force you to pay for a full year? Lifetime! Like I said, the workout area is too small upstairs and the overall hours are not as good. The biggest problem I have with this place is their greed. I moved a couple of months ago to live with a relative in another state and I told Centegra this but they refused to cease automatic payments until I brought them a bill in my name. I live with a relative so none of the bills are under my name. Through much hassle and a 10 hour (back and forth) drive, I finally dropped off their “required documents” and received a receipt of cancellation. 10 days later I am billed again. This is corporate greed at its worst. They refused to accommodate us even a little knowing full well that we lived 5 hours away. This is not personalized service and they do not have our best interest in mind. It is not a great community and the staff are very stubborn and greedy. When signing up, the woman who did our paperwork did not go over the cancellation policy at all. It seemed like it would be a nicer gym because it shared the name of the Centegra Hospitals but honestly this place is a rip off and if I wanted to spend a hundred dollars a month on a gym membership for me and my girlfriend I would just go to Lifetime- better service, better facility, and NO contract that locks you in for a year. If you work for a living and you like your money being well spent and not siphoned off, go somewhere else. If you think life doesn’t throw curve balls and you’ll never have to cancel your gym membership due to unforeseen circumstances, then by all means sign up with these devils. There are plenty of other gyms out there who will be more cooperative with you than these people. Please don’t make the same mistake I did. Never sign up with a gym that locks you in for a year. And if they do, don’t sign up with one that won’t even take a fax…they want you to drop it off and sign the papers in person. I had to drive back from Michigan just to do this and then they decide to charge me again anyway. This gym isn’t worth the headaches.

An unfortunate end to a fair gym experience. I appreciated the equipment and the space. The daycare was helpful for me as a first-time mom. However, learning that children werent allowed in the pool area during weekdays altered my opinion of the facilitys family friendliness. Then, learning my one year old would cost $10 a day to get into the outdoor pool really steered me away from utilizing my membership during the summer months. When my family moved due to my husband starting the police academy, cancellation came with unexpected bumps. There is a policy that states you will be charged an entire month of membership (on top of the 30 day cancellation period). Unfortunately, this was not verbally expressed to me when I asked the membership specialist detailed questions regarding cancellation due to my knowing our family would be moving from the area within the year contract period. Not only was the extra charge troublesome for my familys currently single income, but the membership supervisor, Kevins patronizing email conversation with me regarding the situation left an even more bitter taste in my mouth. Hopefully this review gives new gym members the extra information I was foolish enough to think was given to me verbally.

The gym itself is fine, nothing spectacular. The price point was not at all competitive; when matched up against other, much larger gyms with more amenities at the same price. The biggest kicker is the contract. It is a scam. You sign up for a one year contract that you are locked into unless specified conditions that you are able to get out of the contract. Something they fail to tell you is that once that year is up, you are "auto-renewed" and locked into another year contract without being notified. When I tried to cancel 1 year and 2 months after initially signing up, they tell me I cant because its auto renewed and Im signed up for another one year contract and can cancel next June. The place has always had sub-par customer service, but their policies really take the cake. The only thing they have worthwhile is their classes which are overcrowded. Lifetime is same money, larger facility, open 24 hours, has an outdoor pool, and doesnt scam you into contract you cant get out of. I mean, why would you want to force angry customers to stay members?

Terrible customer service and policy terms! I called to remove my son from family account due to him getting married and moving with his military wife overseas in Japan. I was rudely told that I needed to "provide proof." Keep in mind that I wasnt calling to cancel my main account, which still has 4 members. When I brought in required proof, I mentioned to Denise how troubling this was to me and you could feel her indifference as she recited policy. When I asked what I needed to do to cancel entire policy (because she was so rude) she pointed out that I recently added my daughter (who came home from college) and added another year to my contract term and therefore cannot cancel without severe penalties. All of this bad will created over their rude adherence to policy. All someone needed to do was care just a little bit, or even just attempt to see my point. Apparently that is too much to ask for in this day and age.

Discriminatory with regards to lap pool usage. No easy entrance (steps) into lap pool, so apparently, if you are an adult with arthritis you are not supposed to be swimming laps. Only entrance in and out of lap pool is to pull yourself up stair slots set into side of pool, or the handicapped lift. Difficult (or impossible) for anyone not really handicapped but who has arthritis or weak legs. Basically, youre stuck using only the therapy pool, or family pool (full of kids and water slide). Great pool facility for families with kids, obviously. And the surrounding area is full of young families so I suppose this club is fitting for where its located. However, call me stupid, but I think the idea of a health club is to provide accessible health enhanced facilities to all.

Its a very dirty club. The company is very sexist (notice the girl to guy ratio everytime you go there) and they dont promote people based on skill or experience, but rather on how well you get along with the upper management. The space on the weight room floor is great, but the layout (how they use the space) is terrible. Dont bother going there after 5 pm unless you enjoy high school punks using all the machines and walking around like they own the place. Dont waste your money go to Lifetime and pay less for a better club and its open 24-7. Just in case you are paranoid about this I can assure you that Im not a Lifetime employee, but I do take my exercise seriously and this is the honest truth.
