I was hit by a semi & wanted to find a body shop associated with a Hyundai Dealer since my vehicle was a lease. The repairs to my car took almost 2 weeks. This was ok - I understand it takes time to get things done. The damage $ amt exceeded the quote so they contacted the insurance & was able to get the additional amount approved. They did this the same day I picked up the vehicle from the repairs - so I was only able to give them the original amount that was quoted. She told me that was fine they already contact insurance & it was approved & I didnt have to worry about anything else. I then left a couple days later to go to Ohio & handle some family stuff. I was there for almost 2 weeks. I then got a nasty voicemail & email stating that I owe the additional amount & that if the insurance had sent me the $ I have to give it to them it isnt for me to keep & that would be stealing. Apparently the insurance company sent the check to me instead of Knauz directly - but because I had been in Ohio - I had no idea this happened. After I reached out & explained I was in Ohio & that once I got home they would have their money & that I didnt appreciate being accused of being a thief the woman was like "Oh well we have an issue with people keeping the money." Ok I can understand that, but in no way is it right to accuse me of stealing, especially when barely 2 weeks has gone by & I had no idea what happened. I gave them their money & I thought I was done with them. Fast forward to 2 months later. I take my car in for an oil change to Midas. Immediately the guy comes out & asks me what happened to my car. I told him I had been hit by a semi a couple months ago but my car was fixed. He asked me the details of the accident. The semi had hit me on the rear passenger side corner. He said the wheel is bent, the control arm is bent & the shocks are leaking. He stated this would be consistent with the impact of being hit by a semi because he said you would have to have be hit pretty hard to do that kind of damage. After finding this out I immediately contacted the insurance company & was told I needed to take it back to the shop for an estimate. I contact Knauz & let them know I was going out of town but if I could bring my vehicle in for an estimate on return. I brought it in on a Saturday after they told me I could - but what they failed to tell me was no techs would be available for an estimate. I live in the city of Chicago - its over an hour drive to Knauz. So I went home with plans to bring it back during the week. I primarily work from home & live on a oneway street. Working from home means my car sits for days at a time not being used. Well between my getting back from Knauz on Saturday & going to use my car on Tuesday-someone hit-you guessed it!-the passenger side of my car. There is a long scratch & dent on the passenger door. Its not huge - but enough the panel will need replaced. Later that week I then brought the vehicle back first thing Friday morning 10/30. I asked again if they would be able to provide me an estimate for the insurance. That is all I wanted - an estimate on paper to give to the insurance. I didnt want anything else done. They told me they needed to keep the car to look it over & would give me a rental that I would not have to pay for. So I took the rental & went home. I received a call back stating my car was in an accident that is why the rear passenger wheel is damaged. I explained that happened earlier that week & was after Midas had seen my car & confirmed the additional semi damage. The amount of damage to my wheel is not consistent with a dent towards the front of the car nor the amount of impact needed to make a rear wheel base become bent. Knauz is refusing to give me an estimate, I had to rush the rental car back, being told I have to pay even though I didnt ask for it. I still dont understand why I couldnt get an estimate, or why I was treated this way. Im now taking legal action against Knauz & the company that hit my car.

This dates back to August of 2014. I was involved in a three car crash. I was rear ended by a wreckless female, and that resulted in a domino effect. Police and EMS came as there were injuries. My car was oroginally taken to a tow yard/body shop which Skokie used as their go-to" after cars are towed from crash scenes. Understandable. However, I did not want to give them my business. I called Knauz Body Shop and Lori answered the phone. Little did I know that she would be the one who I would deal with until the day I pick up my car. I told Lori about the situation and she advised the towing company to come to the "tow yard" and take the car to Knauz. Couple days later I came in to see the car again with the insurance adjuster. Lori was first-class. The way she conducted herself, was professional, but it made you feel like you were a friend. It was amazing! Over the next coming weeks, she described everything about the car, and everything that had to be done. She told me straight forward that it was going to be a lengthy repair job. Which three months certainly was. I didnt care. I knew that the car was in good hands and it would be fixed to like-new. During this timeframe, she kept me updated with the progress of the repair and took my calls when I had qestions. She took the time to answer and explain everything when I called. It was amazing. Not a lot of people have that quality. When the day finally came to pick the car up, I expected some flaws. My past experiences with body shops was not all that great. I could not have been more wrong. The car overall was flawless. There were no swirl marks on the paint, and the finish and color were flawless. The body work, rust inhibitor and welds were amazing. One could not tell where the original body panels/frame ended and where the new/replacement began. The car actually worked better than originally (as odd as that may seem). I have referred friends to Knauz, and they have never had a negative experience. My car was a 2011 Ford Taurus SHO. Which impressed me even more since Knauz mainly deals with imports.

Being a long time Karl Knauz BMW customer, I really enjoyed their excellent service. So when my car got keyed on street I came to this place for repair, I thought this place is related to Karl Knauz dealer and I would get excellent service but now I think I could be wrong after this experience. They did a good job on repairing damages and Allstate paid, somehow inside of my car had strong chemical smell after the fix, it would be good experience if without this dishonest enterprise car rental guy. When I asked him many times a simple question: how much is the total car rental price? No matter how many times I asked him, he always say its 35 which I know now the total price is actually 65 because he didnt add 30 dollars coverage from Allstate, which he didnt mention it on purpose. He knows if I know its on top of 30 dollars I wouldnt agree to pay 35 per day extra charges on the ground which I thought Allstate will cover 30. I mean how hard is it for him to speak the true number 65? And the truth will always set u free, but not this guy. So clearly he lied to me on purpose and I felt like got ripped off. What a disgusting way of doing business! Minus one star for chemical smell in my car, minus one star for enterprise guy lied to me on purpose, minus another star for insisting its my fault.
