Ive been going to Challenge Fitness for about a year and a half. Its great. The facility is always clean and the staff always gives a cheerful "Hello" when I walk in. The only potential issue is that its a bit small. The pool only has 5 lanes open during open swim, so sometimes youre waiting for a lane. (In fairness that has only happened to me once.) Ive never had to wait for cardio equipment, but if youre wanting to use the weight machines, youll probably have to go really early or really late to make sure nobody else is using them. To be honest I havent had any problems, but I just want to outline them for others who may have different needs at the gym than I do. The atmosphere of the gym is very nice. I didnt really appreciate it until I went to other gyms and felt like I was in a cave. Challenge Fitness has lots of windows to let in natural light. It sounds like a small thing, but for me it really helps to stay motivated and happy. Also, the treadmills and elliptical machines have screens on them that connect not only to basic TV stations, but also to the Internet. When Im running I go to YouTube and watch music videos to get the adrenaline flowing. Somehow its a lot more effective in getting me to run longer than just listening to music on my mp3 player. I have not found screens with wireless capabilities at other gyms I have visited. The locker rooms are very nice and always clean. The other gym goers are pleasant. Ive never done any fitness classes, but the employees Ive encountered are nice. And because the gym falls under the umbrella of the Lockport Park District, you can always find out whats going on in the community. The good thing about Lockport is that the downtown area is relatively small, so Im able to walk to the gym from my apartment in about 20 minutes. I recommend Challenge Fitness to any Lockport resident. (The monthly fees are reasonable--I believe its $20 for a single person and $35 for a two-person membership, which is what I have, but the start-up fee is a bit of a doozy. When my girlfriend and I signed up, I think we had to pay something like $80 for the two of us for that month, but its a one-time deal.)

Challenge Fitness is very current with Fitness Equipment. I also have a Country Club membership with the exact same equipment, but I pay a whole lot more each and every year. The staff is very friendly and seem to always go out of their way when an issue comes to their attention. They are expanding the Parking Lot area to accommodate all the vehicles. I am shocked that this facility is Park District facility.

Look no where else, you have found your destination for fitness! The staff is wonderful and instructors are top notch. The facility is nice and if you like Tennis, there are plenty of indoor courts. This is THE PLACE for Les Mills in the Chicago area; they have every class and excellent instructors that will get you the results you want. Cant wait to workout here again...

They generally have some less than informed high school looking kid running the front desk, which is frustrating. The facilities are beautiful and well kept. The pros are way more than the cons!
